Before Summer could fully register what he had said, Landon hurried on, terrified she would refuse before he finished. "I know Hope is in the hospital, and you'll go back to her as soon as you are done with work. But if it's possible, if you can, will you come with me?"
For a moment, Summer couldn't find her voice. She didn't want to attend any party while her daughter was still at the hospital. All she wanted was peaceful and quiet moments with her daughter, not bright lights and forced smiles.
Yet she couldn't turn him down outright, thinking about his kindness. He had done so much for her, stood by her without hesitation. And Hope… Hope was doing just fine now. Leaving her in her mother's and sister's care for one evening wouldn't cause any harm.
After a brief hesitation, she nodded softly. "Okay, I'll come with you."
