Chapter 44 - "Arrival at the Lookout: Kami's Dread"

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

With Harry, Gine, and Celari finally in agreement, the spaceship slipped into Earth's atmosphere under the control of its AI system, heading straight toward the Lookout.

Meanwhile—high above a remote stretch of Earth.

The Lookout rose above the clouds like a holy fortress suspended in the sky, shaped almost like an enormous upside-down bowl. Its architecture was unique, yet carried an imposing and ancient majesty.

The platform was paved with neat white stone tiles, and on one side stood the sanctum of Earth's Guardian. Being here felt like stepping into a sacred world, isolated from everything below.

At that moment, in front of the temple, Kami—Piccolo—suddenly froze. Cold sweat streamed down his aged face.

A crushing sense of dread surged through him, leaving him weak-kneed and trembling.

Luckily, Mr. Popo caught him before he could fall.

"Lord Kami, are you alright?" Popo asked, full of concern.

Kami shook his head, steadied himself, then looked toward the distant horizon. "I'll manage, Popo. You felt it too, didn't you? Three terrifyingly powerful energies… they've arrived on Earth."

His expression grew heavier as he said it.

Popo nodded. His own strength was nothing to scoff at, and his mastery of ki was long since refined—if Kami sensed them, of course he would too.

"I can't tell whether those three outsiders come as enemies or friends. But if they're hostile… Earth may be facing the greatest crisis in its history," Kami said, voice low.

He had been Earth's Guardian for three centuries. Never—not once—had he imagined the planet confronting something like this.

"Lord Kami, we haven't even seen them yet. Everything is unknown. Please don't strain yourself," Popo urged nervously.

He knew all too well that Kami was at the end of his lifespan. Though the Guardian still had twenty or thirty years left, to beings like them, that amount of time was painfully short. Popo had personally witnessed the previous Kami's passing—his worry was instinctive.

"I know. Don't worry, Popo," Kami replied softly.

The two of them continued to stare toward the sky, anxiety written plainly on their faces.

As the seconds crawled by, large beads of sweat rolled down their cheeks. Not only could they sense the immense energies approaching—they could now see the incoming spaceship with their own eyes.

Within seconds, the disc-shaped craft descended and settled firmly on the Lookout's platform.

"Lord Kami," Popo said, stepping in front of him protectively, his loyalty obvious in the way he moved without hesitation.

Monstrous… beyond anything imaginable! How can anyone's ki be this overwhelming?

Kami's heart churned violently. Ever since becoming Kami, he had never—not even once—felt the shadow of death this clearly.

He could only hope the three beings inside that ship had not come to conquer Earth.

Clack… clack…

The hatch opened. Fresh air rushed inside, and Harry, Gine, and Celari all instinctively took deep breaths.

After half a year cramped inside the ship, even adults would have felt suffocated—Harry and Celari especially so.

"Hard to believe something this huge can float so high in the sky," Gine said as she hopped out of the ship, looking around in awe.

"Finally! I thought I was gonna die cooped up in there," Celari said, jumping out after her.

The crisp air of the Lookout made it feel like they had stepped into another world entirely.

Harry came out last. He admired the view for a moment, but soon his eyes fixed on the distant figures of Kami and Popo.

His scouter activated at once.

Kami: power level 220.Popo: power level 300.

Exactly as he'd expected.

Before he could comment, Celari suddenly tilted her head. "Huh? This place feels so weird… my whole body feels light."

Gine paused, curious, while Harry instantly remembered the reason.

"Almost forgot to mention—Planet Vegeta and Planet Aoyun both have ten times Earth's gravity. That's why Earth feels so light to us," he said, stretching his legs on the tiles of the Lookout.

"Oh, that makes sense. I thought it was because we'd been stuck in the ship too long," Gine said with a relieved expression.

"So that means I'm stronger than before, right?" Celari said excitedly.

She didn't fully understand, but she wasn't wrong. In a way, they were stronger on Earth.

"We don't feel a huge difference because our power has increased, and because we spent half a year in the ship—our bodies basically adapted to its optimal environment. But if gravity were ten times higher again, we'd notice it immediately," Harry added.

Gine nodded. Celari nodded too—sort of.

Then Celari looked toward Kami and Popo.

"Harry, Aunt Gine… are those Earthlings? They look really strange. Especially the dark one," she said bluntly.

Strange?

Of course they looked strange.

Kami didn't even look human—and Popo certainly didn't look like any Earthling either. If he hadn't lived on the Lookout in the original timeline, no one would've believed he was from Earth at all.

Suddenly, an idea flashed through Harry's mind.

He couldn't say anything about Popo. But Kami… that was different.

As a transmigrator, he knew everything about the original story. But he couldn't just reveal that openly—how would he explain that to Gine and Celari?

Still, there were things he could pretend to know.

Such as Kami's real identity.

He could claim he'd studied information about alien races, use that as an excuse to explain the Namekians—and from there, lead into the existence of the Dragon Balls.

Yes. They had come to Earth. And the Dragon Balls were one of their goals.

There were many things he could only accomplish through Shenron.

Figures… only when the moment actually comes do the right ideas appear. I spent so long thinking about how to bring this up, but it turns out it's simple.

With that thought settled, and Gine looking curiously at him, Harry finally spoke to the two of them.

"..."
