"Is that so? Just over ten days ago, you were questioning me about why I broke up with you, begging me to come back to you—and now you're suddenly the one choosing to leave for America?" He stared straight into Sophie's eyes, his expression more complicated than it had ever been before. "If you agreed to the breakup back then, you shouldn't have turned around and come back."
"Then what about you?" She fought back the soreness in her throat and shot back at him. "After the breakup, did you really stop caring about me at all?! If you truly didn't care, then don't interfere with what job I take, who I see, or how hard my life is! You never actually let me go! If you had truly abandoned me, if you didn't care whether I lived or died, then right now I would feel so much better!"
Ned's face stiffened. "Yes… it's my fault. I hesitated…" He finally admitted it to her out loud. "Because I never wanted to let go!" He looked at her, enunciating each word clearly.
