Pinned to the ground, with the wolf about to rip off his arm, Adam tried to use his remaining strength to strike it with his good hand.
(BOOM) (BOOM)
Two sharp blows to the wolf's neck made it let go of his arm, which was completely covered in blood, with shreds of flesh hanging off it. In some places, the flesh was missing, the skin had turned black and green around the missing pieces of flesh, the bones were visible, and signs of rot were beginning to spread up the arm to the shoulder.
"Pffff, pffff, I'm not dead yet, bastard." No sooner had he finished his sentence than Adam saw the wolf attack again.
Blocking the wolf's mouth a few inches from his throat, both hands held the wolf's jaws open.
His arms trembled, the pain was excruciating, only the energy of despair allowed him to fight for his survival. His right arm, torn to shreds, like a miracle of life, still possessed the minimum amount of muscle needed to move and produce a derisory but desperate force.
Adam's mind was close to breaking. Pain, fear, and hatred all formed a mixture of emotions that were used as fuel for survival.
"Arrrrrrrugh!!!!!!!! LET ME GO, YOU FUCKING WOLF, DIE, YOU BASTARD!!!!!!" The pain intensified, and his strength weakened.
His injury worsened with every passing second, the wolf's jaws closing in on his neck. His right arm was about to give out at any moment. Adam was sure Death was just playing with him, hoping to crush any remaining sense of hope he might have.
The wolf's blue flame-filled eyes were far too close, conveying no emotion, content to be a nightmarish vision that would haunt the dead forever.
His mouth was now filled with blood, dirt, and tears, a horrible mixture of metallic, salty, and bitter tastes. Adam now knew that death and despair had a taste, and it was terrible.
(BOOM!!!!!)
As his last strength left him, Adam saw the wolf disappear from his sight, replaced by a stone giant crushing the body of a giant wolf in one of its hands, its face now an unrecognizable mass of flesh and bone.
He saw Primo look at him for three seconds before slowly moving to his left. His head turned in that direction and he saw the body of his tormentor a few feet away, convulsing on the ground.
Primo advanced toward the wolf, still dragging the pack leader by the throat. Once he reached his target, he simply crushed its head, stomping on it violently, causing it to explode into pieces that splattered in all directions.
The wolf's body twitched one last time before ceasing all movement.
"HAHAHAHA!!!!! JESUS, PRIMO, I LOVE YOU!!!!" Exultant with joy, Adam felt his body collapse from exhaustion, drained of what little strength he had left, but filled with joy and hope, the silhouette of death now replaced by the silhouette of an angel, a stone angel.
Forcing shreds of energy to appear within him, Adam raised his head to look at the rest of the battlefield.
The defense specialist golem walked slowly toward him, leaving behind two wolf corpses covered in wounds, their bodies methodically destroyed. The other golem tried to remove the wolf corpse from his arm, which he had pierced with his fist, the second wolf under his right foot, its body practically split in two.
Coughing and laughing, Adam spat out some of the blood and dirt in his mouth, trying to think calmly despite the pain and overwhelming fatigue. "Cool, we won the fight, but now I'm bleeding out and dying on the spot. I don't think there are any other wolves nearby, so healing is the priority, and there's only one solution."
Using almost all of his remaining energy, he left himself only a fraction of energy so as not to have to discover the consequences of being out of steam. Transforming his energy into pure life energy, he injected it directly into his arm, watching his wounds slowly close as his muscles and flesh slowly reappeared, the bleeding gradually slowing down, but after a few seconds, it stopped completely, his wound no longer getting worse but also no longer healing.
"Oh shit, this is going to be a long night." Injecting the little energy he recovered every few minutes into his healing, Adam knew he couldn't faint or he would die. For now, he was content to delay his death, knowing he was far from healed enough to allow himself a nap.
Looking at the golems around him, he said, "Primo, you can let go of his body, you know? And please check that the wolf under the tent is really dead."
Staring at Primo, he lifted the tent slabs one by one, then blew up the head of the wolf underneath and smiled slightly. "Can you carry me and lay me against the tree, please?" he asked to the golem on his right.
...
Sitting against the tree, Adam stared blankly at the camp without really seeing it. He just tried to ignore the pain and fatigue, contenting himself with healing in small bursts of life energy every few minutes.
In the blur of his vision, he saw something remarkable happening. It was as if the bones of the rabbit he had placed in the corner earlier had moved on their own. Focusing his gaze, he saw them slowly reassemble themselves into the shape of the rabbit's body.
"Damn it, you've got to be kidding me, you can't even die in peace in this world." Breathing heavily with fatigue, Adam contented himself with watching the rabbit slowly come back to life, its body now rebuilt, a blue flame lighting up in place of its eyes.
The moment the rabbit came back to life, the golem adept at destruction placed one hand on its back and the other around its head.
(CRASH!!)
With a sharp pull, he ripped off the undead rabbit's head before it had time to move. Breaking the rabbit's head in his hand into fragments of bone and scattering them on the ground, he turned around and repositioned himself next to Adam, still emotionless in his stone knight's helmet.
"Haha, nice and clean, no time wasted, perfect work, man." Laughing at this strangely funny spectacle, Adam watched over the corpses of the wolves, continuing his healing work despite his extreme fatigue.
"I wouldn't say no to a coffee right now to stay awake. Pain is a really annoying stimulant to keep you awake."
