Having never been married before and therefore having no experience on the matter. Deacon Roth had no idea as to whether or not Haley Slater was a good wife. Personally he thought she was, but maybe he could have been wrong. After all some men wanted obedient women who agreed with everything they said instead of challenging them every step of the way like Slater tended to do.
But one thing that Deacon was certain about when it came to Haley Slater was that she was an excellent shield. Whenever danger was coming his way Slater would suddenly be in the way protecting him in ways that Deacon would have struggled to protect himself.
