Chapter 106 - Chapter 106

The video continued to play.

On the screen, although Dr. Banner was a little hesitant, Tony Stark still persuaded him to work together to put a layer of armor around the Earth.

The result was the birth of Ultron.

Faced with everyone's complaints and misunderstandings, Tony Stark did not refute anything.

Until everyone was defeated by Ultron and the Avengers were torn apart.

Tony Stark and Steve had a conflict while chopping wood.

Tony Stark finally spoke out his thoughts.

"The most powerful team on Earth is now falling apart," Steve Rogers said as he split the wood in front of him with an axe.

"Steve, you should know that Ultron wants to split us, right?"

Facing Tony's words, Steve put down the axe and looked at him. "I think you know, but you won't tell us!"

"Banner and I are doing research and development."

"That may affect the team."

"But it may also end the team's mission!"

Tony Stark stepped forward, looking at Steve seriously. "Isn't this our mission? Isn't our goal to end the war and go home?"

Hearing Tony explain himself, Steve grabbed a wooden stump and tore it in half with both hands.

"Tony, whenever someone tries to win a war before the war even starts, people die. It's always been like that."

It was obvious that Tony Stark and Steve were arguing because their beliefs were different.

Everyone else quietly watched the argument.

Only Nick Fury stared at the backs of the two men, his expression serious.

Nick Fury naturally cared about what would happen in the future.

But more importantly, he cared about the difference in ideology between Steve and Tony.

Nick believed that the Avengers—a team formed from people with extraordinary abilities—should be capable of defeating any enemy they faced.

As long as the battles continued to be won, even opposing beliefs wouldn't cause too many problems.

But once something went wrong in a battle, their incompatible philosophies could very well split the Avengers apart.

From the moment he acquired the spoiler system until now, Nick Fury clearly understood that Steve and Tony would become the core of the Avengers.

So whether it was the argument shown in this video, the repeated scenes of signing the agreement, or even the future split of the Avengers—

Perhaps the true cause had never been outside threats.

It was the fundamental clash in their beliefs.

Thinking of this, Nick Fury felt a sudden headache.

Steve Rogers, Captain America, seems easy to talk to.

But in reality, he was stubborn. Once he believed something, he would never budge.

And Tony Stark was the same.

And these two just happened to be the core of the future Avengers.

If Nick couldn't resolve their ideological conflict, then even with the spoiler system, they would inevitably clash fiercely in the future.

Thinking about it, Nick Fury leaned back in his seat and stared at the big screen.

They were… two truly troublesome men.

Where on Earth was he supposed to find glue strong enough to hold the two together?

He focused on the screen again.

On the screen, Tony Stark was standing in front of a tractor.

"Please help me out. Don't make it talk," he said.

Hearing Nick Fury's voice, Tony spread his hands. "Mrs. Barton has learned to lie!"

"I knew it—Hill called you, right? I thought she was focused on working for the Avengers."

Then Tony Stark looked at Linen, who was standing beside Nick Fury. "Man, why'd you come with him?"

"I remember you saying you hate people who play tricks and pretend they can control everything, but who always end up face-down in a ditch."

Facing Tony's words, Linen tossed him an orange. "I didn't want to participate in the Avengers."

"It's just that Natasha called me. She said she was in a very dangerous situation and needed my help."

"You know, it's hard for me to refuse a friend's request."

At that point, Linen glanced outside. "You're arguing with Steve again?"

"Just different ideas."

"That's why I don't want to join the Avengers."

Walking up to Tony, Linen patted him on the shoulder. "I prefer killing the enemy directly, instead of arguing about how to kill him."

"I'll go find Natasha."

With that, Linen walked out of the barn.

Seeing Linen's statement in the video, everyone in the theater looked surprised.

"Wait—what? Linen isn't an Avenger?"

Tony turned to Nick Fury with disbelief, frowning. "What's wrong with you? How could you not recruit someone as powerful as Linen into the Avengers?"

Steve Rogers also looked straight at Nick Fury.

When Tony finished, Steve said, "We've seen Linen's past. We know what he's done for Earth."

"A man as powerful and honorable as him shouldn't be excluded from the Avengers."

"Steve and Tony are right," Thor added, nodding. "I think Linen should join the Avengers. I'd like to fight beside him."

Seeing everyone staring at him suspiciously, Nick Fury felt speechless.

If he hadn't wanted Linen in the Avengers, why would he send Natasha to approach him?

If he wanted to assemble the Avengers, he definitely wouldn't overlook someone like Linen.

Besides, it was obvious that Linen appeared because Natasha asked for help.

And in previous videos, Natasha and Linen trusted each other deeply.

That alone showed their friendship.

So the reason Linen didn't join the Avengers wasn't that Nick didn't invite him—

It was that Linen refused.

Natasha, who understood this as well, said to Tony and Steve, "This is just the original-space future. In the original timeline, Linen didn't join the Avengers, but he still maintained a very good relationship with us."

"So we just need to keep being friends with Linen."

"Besides, now that we have the spoiler system, we can find a way to make Linen truly join us."

Saying this, Natasha smiled at Wanda beside her.
