Rafael's POV
I opened my eyes after clenching my fist too hard and turned to her.
Her eyes were wide with shock as she rubbed her arm, the one that had nearly slammed into the cabin wall when I brushed her off earlier.
Bastard.
"Nana, no, I'm sorry. I… I didn't mean to hurt you. I…"
I reached out to grab her arm, then froze halfway. I pulled my hand back, lowered my head, and clenched my fist again, forcing myself still.
My breath shook. Guilt. A sharp exhale.
I hurt her.
I fucking hurt her.
And right as I was cursing myself for it, she suddenly took my hand with her delicate palm.
"Rafael, it's okay. I'm fine." Nana held my hand tightly, her eyes searching for mine.
That soft, heavenly gaze. Always warming my cold chest. Always calming my frantic heartbeat.
"Did I ask something uncomfortable? I'm sorry," she said softly, a faint, worried smile on her lips.
She pulled me into her embrace. She didn't ask anything else.
She just held me and patted my back.
