Chapter 322 - The Ultimate Construct

The other battlefield involved the two ladies fighting the brainwashed Killer Croc. Harley Quinn had been extremely unlucky, parachuting right into the city's canal. Before she could figure out what was happening, she was ambushed by Killer Croc.

However, Harley's skills were impressive, and she had some enhancements. In the critical moment, she stuffed her baseball bat into Killer Croc's maw, then whipped out her pistol and fired furiously.

Killer Croc was much larger than when Thea had last seen him. His atavism was becoming increasingly obvious; unless someone pointed it out, you'd never guess this thing used to be human. Hit continuously by bullets, he went into a frenzy, grabbing Harley's arm and attempting to smash her to death.

Fortunately, at the critical moment, the Japanese woman, Katana, arrived. Using her skillful martial arts, she saved Harley, and the two supported each other in a double-team battle against Killer Croc.

"Looks like everyone's engaged. I'm the only one left?" Muttering to herself, Thea flew up, rapidly approaching the city center square. Barring any accidents, Enchantress and El Diablo would be there.

"You again! Government lapdog!" Seeing Thea again, Enchantress instantly recognized her by her aura.

"Nice fusion. You speak American English really well!" Thea teased. When she rescued the Secretary last time, it was just a hurried glimpse; only now did she have the time to look closely.

The specific process was unknown, but the scenario could be guessed. Dr. June Moone's body couldn't withstand absolute zero, while Enchantress had the magic but lacked the vessel. In their despair, the two completed an extremely deep fusion—a comprehensive merging of mind, body, and soul. They were no longer distinguishable from each other. This was probably why Rick Flag finally made up his mind to walk this path of treason for his lover.

It could be said that the original Dr. June Moone and Enchantress no longer existed. Standing before Thea now was a new enemy with Enchantress as the dominant personality.

Regaining a body, Enchantress's spellcasting ability finally recovered. Moreover, with a body, she could continuously draw new mana from the surroundings, unlike before where every bit used was lost.

However, in everything, there is give and take. In the haste to prevent Dr. June Moone's body from freezing to death, Enchantress had to cut away more than half the mana that wasn't compatible with June Moone's body. Her current strength wasn't even fifty percent of her prime.

"Laugh while you can. You won't be laughing in a moment!" Enchantress stared viciously at Thea, then turned her head to continue her spellcasting.

What is this guy doing? Thea took a closer look. Piled in front of Enchantress were thousands of comatose citizens—visually estimated to be at least ten thousand. She was chanting in a language Thea didn't understand. Translucent tentacles constantly extended into the citizens' bodies, bringing large amounts of blood back into Enchantress's body.

"Seems like a spell to improve bloodline potential?" Thea really hadn't seen this spell before, but she could see the principle. It was similar to the process she used to help Damian purify his blood for mana extraction that day.

Except Enchantress didn't want to extract mana; she wanted to improve the body's mana affinity. Through massive blood infusion and purification, she was artificially improving Dr. June Moone's physical constitution—which originally had absolutely zero magical affinity—creating a magical physique through bloody means.

Going through such trouble... it must be hard on her! Thea felt a tiny bit of sympathy, but she still had to fight.

She drew her freeze gun and pulled the trigger at Enchantress. If it were a righteous hero, they might shout some nonsense like "Drop your weapon and surrender," but Thea didn't have that bad habit. The coolant and ultra-low temperature reactor operated rapidly, spraying out a large cloud of freezing gas.

"Stop her!" Enchantress shouted at El Diablo, Chato Santana, whose body was covered in tattoos.

It was clear Chato Santana hadn't been brainwashed by her. His eyes were full of helplessness, but he still stepped forward. Fire erupted from his hands, blocking Thea's freezing gas.

His pitch-black flames were indeed impressive; for a moment, they were deadlocked with the freezing gas.

"I don't want... to be enemies... with you. I just want... to see my family again..." Although the fire and freezing gas were evenly matched, Thea was using a technological weapon; she herself consumed nothing. Chato Santana was using his own energy. Every bit of energy had to cycle through his body. In less than a minute, his flame temperature wasn't as scorching as before.

"Stop resisting. We will help you. This guy is harming innocent citizens; can't you see that?" Thea didn't know what conditions Enchantress had offered him, but she tried to pull him back to her side.

"This...?" Chato Santana wasn't blind. Apart from being slightly cleaner, the whole setup around Enchantress wasn't much different from the blood sacrifices you see in movies.

"Think about the family you accidentally killed. Once I recover my power, I can let you see them again!" Having regained a body, Enchantress wasn't as silent as before. Thea spoke of public morality; she spoke of personal interest.

Chato Santana pondered repeatedly and finally gritted his teeth, making up his mind. He said to Thea, "I'm sorry. I have to stop you."

"What a joke! You think you can stop me with the power of that low-level demon?" Thea's eyebrows raised. If Trigon said this, she'd believe it, but the nameless demon inside Chato Santana wasn't even worth mentioning.

"Let me show you what a real demon is!!" One former gangster, one African witch sealed for hundreds of years—Thea prepared to let them witness a true demon!

The Yellow Lantern Ring operated at full power. Massive amounts of fear energy were manifested by the ring and amplified ten-, even a hundred-fold.

Deep yellow smoke swirled over the square. Enchantress and El Diablo both gazed intently. As the smoke dispersed slightly, the first thing to catch their eyes was a pair of curved horns, exuding a deep demonic aura and resembling those of a ram. The eyes were filled with soul-stealing light of fear, and it seemed as if sulfur were dripping from the manifested mouth.

Long, slender arms were equipped with wrist blades. The demon seemed very dissatisfied with the smoke. It pushed its hands outward with force, dissipating the smoke instantly. The demon walked out slowly, its reverse-jointed hooves stepping on the ground, its massive tail constantly whipping the surroundings. It clearly didn't like this environment either.

"Huh?" Thea let out a soft exclamation. She had intended to construct the bulky version of Diablo you see in games, but perhaps because she herself was female, what appeared instead was a slender, feminine Diablo—more like the Prime Evil's Leah form...

However, using fear energy to construct the Lord of Terror was truly a perfect match! It moved like an extension of her own body. The two complemented each other. Thea even felt her understanding of fear reaching an even deeper level. This was incredible; keeping in mind her understanding of fear was already "unmatched," now it seemed she was making even further progress.
