Emily sat in the secure communications room of the safe house, Clara Mueller beside her reviewing legal documents, when Sebastian entered with an expression that made her stomach drop.
"We have incoming intelligence," Sebastian said quietly. "Priority one. From Norvale."
Emily's heart jumped. "Alexander?"
"His courier network," Sebastian confirmed. "Encrypted. Urgent classification." He handed her a tablet with the decoded message displayed.
Emily read it once. Then again. Then felt the world tilt slightly.
