Silva currently had a few drachmas in his pockets, and that was not enough for a bus ride to long Island. Since it was gold, he could trade it in a pawn shop. But he had no idea what would happen when mortals come in contact with godly money.
So currently he was walking through the city, trying to find a way to go back home before he comes across another relative from the Roman side.
'Hmm, this doesn't look good' Silva thought as he looked at the map he had borrowed from the public Library nearby.
The distance back did not have any train track that connects the regions directly, so he won't be able to sneak into a train to go home.
He closed the map and decided to take a walk around the city. Thankfully, he gets energy from the trees nearby, so he does not have to forage in dumpsters for food.
He tried to use the mist to make a call. But it seems like there was a barrier that stopped him form connecting to the Greek side of America right now.
Seeing that all options are gone at the moment, he decided to just sightsee the entire city for now. But after a few hours, he began to have a bad feeling.
'Wait a minute, I could have just gone through the areas filled with forest and nature. Why the hell am I creating reasons to stay within this city' Silva immediately brought out his bow. He knew something was wrong.
He was sure he was not mind controlled as the scarf his mother gave had the ability to change color if that happened. So, the only thing that is possible is that his instincts wants him to stay within the city.
He immediately spread out his senses. Even though the city was made up of concrete jungles, there were trees and plants at every corner which people put up just for the sake of decoration. And Silva's powers only required those plants to map the entire city right now.
It only took him some time to realise why his instincts wanted him to stay within the city instead of leaving it quickly.
'Monsters'
Silva realised that his action of taking out the entire Roman camp had actually reduced the security present within the entire city. The monsters must have realised that the romans won't be there to keep them in check, giving them a perfect chance to attack the people of the city. Plus, Silva was also able to see that, many of the people in the city had connections to the roman gods. Their blood although is too diluted for them to have any powers, most can't even see through the mist at all.
But even then, they were five course meal to all these monsters.
'I'll protect this city for a day' Silva decided as he zeroed in on his first monster. The Romans must also have items similar to Ambrosia and Nectar which allowed the Greek demigods to heal quickly. Plus, Silva had made sure that the wounds he created were shallow and therefore is easily healable within a day.
Pierce!!
The monster turned into golden dust as the arrow pierced through its chest, Silva then locked onto the next one and began hunting. But while doing this, he figured out that his absorption power had a certain weakness that he never saw before.
The power he can absorb from a single plant is very limited. When he is absorbing from a forest, it is inexhaustible as the numerous trees in the forest will keep on supplying him with energy while the rest of the trees will have enough time to regenerate the energy he had taken from them. But right now, Silva does not have the convenience of absorbing energy from the plants.
The plants by themselves are a few when compared to the entire city. But at the same time, if he exhausts the plant of its energy, it will lose its monitoring function until it regenerates its energy back completely. And seeing that the entire town was about to be overrun by monsters showed Silva that he had to do it without absorbing any energy.
The battle went on for hours as Silva cannot waste his stamina by creating an overpowered arrow. He had to create weak arrows and attack the monsters by targeting their weak spots without them even realising that he was nearby.
Luckily, he managed to find out another function of his bow. It had two blades that popped out from its two ends. Even though it seemed to be made of silver, it seemed to be deadly effective to all monsters as if it was made of celestial bronze itself.
Silva killed hundreds before he finally felt the exhaustion kick in. The monsters were unable to notice it because Silva was careful in the way he targeted them. This helped him not to get overrun anytime he took care of multiple monsters.
Just as he shot the last arrow, he fell down from the tree, realising that he had exhausted his entire reserve of energy. He tried to absorb energy for a nearby tree but was unable to do it.
'Damn' he realised. He had already killed hundreds of monsters by now; his body had actually been exhausted to its limits hours ago due to the number of arrows he had created along with the movements he had made to escape from the monster's senses.
He had actually been absorbing energy subconsciously and had sucked up the little energy present within the plants around him and currently he was exhausted and blind about his surroundings.
Not a good situation to be in when there might be monsters nearby.
He managed to pull himself up using his bow and prepared himself for the monster that was nearby. Even though he cannot sense it with the plants, his hearing was more than enough for him to realise that a monster was stomping nearby.
'A giant' Silva realised as the vibration created by the footsteps had surpassed the weight of any known cyclops and anything above that weight would have been tall enough for him to see clearly from where he was standing. The heavy step and shorter height hinted upon it being a giant.
'Damn it' Silva cursed as the blades popped out of his bow. He does not have enough strength to summon another arrow and he was barely standing. Just when he was about to think about what to do next, he was suddenly pulled form the side by an arm.
Silva was surprised; it was a girl. She did not seem to have any godly bloodline within her, but the way she pulled him towards the opposite direction from which the giant was coming showed that she was able to see it.
Silva was so tired that he was not able to stop the girl from pulling him towards the nearby building and getting inside.
"Come on" the girl muttered as she pulled him into a storage room within the building.
Silva wondered who the girl was, not knowing it was one of the most significant event of his life.
A/N- hope you like it and happy new year.
