Chapter 666: Division, Endless Division
The Ambush is Sprung
From the beginning, Luke never trusted those so-called "Human Gods." A bunch of tentacles—how could they call themselves Gods?
And the Old Woman—her shriveled body contained an extremely chaotic yet incredibly powerful soul, much like Adam once was, a corpse-puppet merged with many consciousness fragments.
Such beings are inherently dark and cold-blooded, with death as their endpoint. If she ever returned to Earth, who knows what would happen.
The Plain of White Bones is vast, nearly hundreds of kilometers across. At Luke's speed, he should cross it in three minutes, yet he'd been fleeing for eight minutes and still hadn't reached the edge.
He realized what was happening and stopped immediately.
"What, ready to surrender?" Dom said coldly. "I can give you a chance. Put down the Soul-Devouring Bow and tell me the location of the tentacles, and I will let you leave."
Luke shook his head, finding the offer laughable.
"Sirs, you are the ones who should be running, aren't you? Haven't you realized that this area is no longer the original Plain of White Bones?"
Dom frowned slightly, instinctively glancing around. The surroundings were quiet, with no visible changes.
"My Lord, something is wrong," a Death God stepped forward, his tone serious. "I can't sense the location of the other Death Gods. This space seems to be sealed."
The remaining Death Gods enhanced their senses, but the result was the same: they couldn't see or hear anything, and outside their immediate vision, there was only blankness.
"No, it's a trap!"
Dom's face changed drastically. In the next second, the earth cracked open, and dozens of tentacles burst from the ground, arching across the sky like giant Dragons, completely surrounding them from all directions.
A figure emerged from the tip of each tentacle. They were men and women, old and young. Their lower bodies were fused with a hideous mouth-like organ, leaving only their unclothed upper bodies free.
"It is you! You are indeed alive!"
Dom's face was grim as his gaze swept over them.
"Moon God, Sea God, Akala, Shiva, Earth Venerable, Ancient Tibetan Buddha... thousands of years have passed, and you have become this."
Hanyue said coldly, "Dom, you haven't died."
"I will not die, and no one can kill me. But you, Princess Hanyue, you were slain in battle. Why revive? It is incredible that a proud God like you could tolerate becoming a tentacle. I am truly curious as to what reason."
"Your nonsense is too much."
Hanyue shot into the sky and began to sing loudly. Her song echoed in the air, clearly reaching everyone's minds. The Human Gods instantly became frenzied, like warriors under a fervor buff. The Underworld Death Gods, however, clutched their heads, overcome by sleepiness, barely able to keep their eyes open.
With one side energized and the other debilitated, the battle situation fundamentally changed.
That ability is insane! Luke secretly gave a thumbs-up. An ultimate weapon on the battlefield—able to render enemies powerless just by singing—no wonder she was a Guardian of the Celestial Court.
"Hanyue, you are still so memorable."
Dom stared fiercely at the woman on the tentacle. "It was your song that allowed the Lord of the Celestial Court to ambush me, forcing me to leave the battlefield. For thousands of years, I've replayed that moment countless times."
"I suffered that loss once. I will not let it happen a second time."
Dom pulled out something resembling a snail shell from his armor. "This is specially prepared for you—a Conch Shell of the Nether Sea Sirens."
As divine power was injected, the conch began to glow. A melody, seemingly from an ancient era, resonated in the air. The song carried the scent of home, stirring memories buried deep in the soul, plunging listeners into thought and reminiscence of their eternal youth.
The Human Gods, who had been frantic moments before, instantly entered a state of contemplation, their expressions vacant, a mysterious smile on their lips.
Hanyue frowned slightly and immediately changed her tune, forcibly rousing her allies.
The situation returned to the starting point. The Human side lost their buff, and the Underworld Death Gods were no longer sleepy.
"Without your song, how will you defeat me?"
Dom put away the conch and drew the four scimitars from his back. The blades sliced the air, a flash of black light appearing and vanishing.
Puff!
The human figure directly in front of him cried out in pain. Its body split into two, then four, then eight... The tentacle below suffered the same fate. In a matter of seconds, the body vanished, disintegrating into millions of particles of flesh and blood, the smallest less than a millimeter in size.
"Holy cow... What was that?"
Luke was utterly speechless, unable to comprehend. With a single slash, the enemy went from a mountain-sized behemoth to tiny particles.
That's too exaggerated! How can such an ability exist?
"The Gods of the human world do not belong in the Underworld," Dom declared.
He struck out with a flash of black light, aiming directly at the Ancient Tibetan Buddha. The speed was too fast to react. The Ancient Tibetan Buddha could only watch helplessly as the black light approached.
At the critical moment, a translucent, jade-like hand appeared in front of him, blocking the black light.
Splutter!
A dense pattern of bloody cuts appeared on the palm. The cuts rapidly crawled up her arm, covering her entire body.
The Ancient Tibetan Buddha was shocked. "Princess!"
"I'm fine. Go deal with the others."
Hanyue forcibly swallowed the blood in her mouth and used her divine power to repair her body. However, as soon as the wounds healed, they burst open again, the spurting blood drenching her red.
"It's useless. Zeus and the Lord of the Celestial Court could not withstand my power, much less you."
Dom leaped into the air, his blade flashing as he unleashed dozens of black streaks. Hanyue dodged left and right, constantly evading. However, she was no longer the Moon God of the past. Her body could dodge, but the tentacle could not.
Struck by the black light, the tentacle tore into countless particles.
The tentacle was the source of her energy. Without it, her divine power was drastically reduced. Exhausted, Hanyue could only stand stock-still.
"Farewell, Moon God."
"This time, I will ensure you never get a chance to revive."
Dom swung his blade for the final strike. Suddenly, a chill rose in his heart. He immediately retracted his blade and turned backward.
Clang!
Blade met arrow tip. The surrounding air was sucked out and merged with the lightning and flame, forming a circular shockwave that spanned several kilometers.
After forcing Dom back, Luke rushed forward, catching Hanyue's body and retreating.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Hanyue weakly shook her head. "Put me on the ground."
"The ground?" Luke was confused. "Your body right now..."
"It's okay. Hurry!"
Luke dared not delay. He quickly plunged down, placing the upper half of Hanyue's body on the bone-strewn earth. The moment she touched the ground, her body rapidly recovered, and a new tentacle even began to grow back.
This sight stunned Luke.
"W-w-what kind of magic is this?"
"I'll tell you later. Thank you for saving me."
Hanyue gave him a gentle smile, then turned and charged back into the sky. Dom also realized the truth, observing the surroundings before his gaze finally settled on the ground below.
"The Blessing of the Life Goddess. So your true form is underground."
Hanyue said grimly, "Though you are powerful, here, we are immortal."
"You escaped the War of the Gods back then. This time, I will ensure your downfall and avenge my fallen comrades!"
