Chapter 665 - Chapter 665: The Splendor of That Arrow

Chapter 665: The Splendor of That Arrow

Carmor Falls

The facts proved that the toxin on the short blade could affect a God—at least it did with Carmor. The poison quickly invaded his limbs, cutting off nerve transmission and vital fluid supply. After only a few seconds, Carmor couldn't bear it. His hands and feet trembled, his divine power lost control, and he plummeted to the ground. His body began to decay, and his bones turned black.

This situation sent a chill down the spines of the surrounding Death Gods, who couldn't help but look at J'onn. Even J'onn was confused; when Clark was poisoned earlier, he seemed relatively unaffected, as if he just had a common cold. Why was the effect so drastic on the Death God?

Was Clark too strong, or was the Death God too weak?

He couldn't figure it out. He retrieved the dagger and flew toward Luke. This time, no one blocked him; they instinctively parted to clear his path.

Reaching Luke, he tossed the long bow over.

"The item you wanted."

"Nice job. That was badass," Luke gave a thumbs-up.

He had initially planned to use J'onn as bait and launch a surprise attack, but he never expected such a huge surprise from his teammate.

It seems I underestimated them. Those who become Justice League mainstays are no ordinary characters.

Luke took the long bow and examined it closely. It was about 1.4 meters long and very heavy, weighing at least sixty kilograms. The surface was covered with dense scratch marks, suggesting it had survived extremely brutal battles.

In Western magical texts, there was a legendary item called the Rune Bow. When drawn, it would automatically generate an energy arrow. The fired arrow would never fall, capable of piercing the sky and reaching the cosmos.

This bow appeared to be similar to the Rune Bow, but Luke wondered about its actual effect.

Luke gripped the bow with his left hand and pulled the string with his right. The bowstring was surprisingly heavy; he couldn't tell what material it was made of.

Amid a low humming sound, the string slowly opened. Instantly, a strange suction came from the bow's body. It seemed to yearn for something, like a hungry infant waiting to be fed.

"Interesting!"

Luke curled his lips, released the restrictions on his power, and allowed the bow to absorb his energy: life, soul, divinity, green flame... all poured into it. It was like a bottomless pit that could never be filled, frantically swallowing, plundering, and growing stronger.

Gradually, the bow's body changed. The surface scratches healed, and large amounts of jade-green bone spurs grew out, looking like the fangs of a ferocious beast. Its appearance shifted from ancient and simple to ugly and savage, exuding the brutal aura unique to an ancient monster.

"What the heck is this thing?"

"It looks extremely unnatural."

Had it not been for the faint soul connection radiating from the bow, Luke would have wondered if it was alive. After consuming nearly a quarter of his soul energy, the long bow finally stopped, like a fed child, closing its "eyes" and going to sleep.

Luke exhaled sharply and, ignoring his fatigue, drew the string. Lightning flashed, and a dark-green lightning arrow materialized. With the injection of fire, the arrow solidified, radiating a terrifying energy fluctuation, like a colossal monster exposing its fangs to devour the world.

Piercing the Heavens

The distant Death Gods fighting immediately stopped, looking over with puzzled expressions.

"Carmor's Soul-Devouring Bow... how did it change like that?"

"Such a powerful energy fluctuation. What is that human doing?"

Suddenly!

The sky rumbled. A streak of aurora flashed through the void, running from bottom to top, piercing the clouds, and disappearing into the firmament. Where the aurora passed, it left a brilliant, fiery streak.

Fast!

Extremely fast.

It was too fast for the naked eye to register, too fast for the soul to perceive. This speed transcended the limits of physical rules, reaching a different realm entirely.

The Gods looked blankly at the sky, then turned their gaze to Luke below. He drew the string again. The first shot went into the sky; this time, he was aiming for a person.

Bang!

The roar exploded. The aurora vanished into the firmament.

The Giant Beast Death God, now only a head, looked down. When it saw the hole in its chest, its eyes were bewildered, mixed with a hint of incomprehension. Its massive body rapidly turned to stone and crashed to the ground like a mountain.

The residual soul, protected by the Death God power, desperately fled into the distance.

The air fell into an eerie silence, as if time had been paused.

Even Luke was stunned. He hadn't expected this result.

A God downed with one arrow!

This is too exaggerated!

Is it because I'm too strong? Or because of the bow?

Okay, it's definitely the latter.

Luke did not attack again. He made a gesture and turned to fly away. Clark and the others exchanged glances and followed suit.

The remaining Death Gods stopped in their tracks, their faces showing profound shock. That single arrow had shattered their confidence. The Giant Beast had been instantly slain, its residual soul barely clinging to life. It meant they could easily meet the same fate.

Faced with this, how could they pursue?

Just then, a figure appeared before them—Dom, who had been observing from above.

"You cannot let them escape! This is the Underworld!"

With that, he rapidly rushed forward. The other Death Gods instantly reacted, ashamed and angry, and hurried to follow him.

The two groups, one leading and one trailing, sped across the Plain of White Bones.

The Ambush Plan

Diana asked, confused,

"Why didn't you finish them off?"

"It's not that simple. The bow can wound, but it can't kill them easily. Continuing to fight would only lead to a drawn-out, endless war of attrition."

"Death Gods are not that easy to kill."

J'onn interjected, "Luke, someone just sent me a psychic message, telling us to fly toward the front-right."

"Who was it?"

"I don't know," J'onn shook his head. "His psychic signature was very subtle. He likely has a talent for psychic abilities like mine."

Luke twitched his mouth. If he guessed correctly, the psychic was the tentacle monster hidden beneath the plain. After waiting this long, they were finally making their move.

"I'll go right. You three go left. Remember, if anything unexpected happens, leave immediately! Don't worry about me; I have a way to escape."

With that, he changed direction and sped toward the front-right.

Clark and the other two had no choice but to follow his instructions and fly toward the left.

The pursuing Death Gods also split into two groups. The larger group, led by Dom, darted after the rapidly escaping Luke. The rest chased the other three.

This split caused the Human Gods, hiding underground and waiting for their chance, to frown simultaneously.

"What's happening? Didn't you tell him?"

"I did," the psychic Human God replied. "I told him to go right. Who knew it would turn out like this?"

Artemis sneered,

"He's wary of us. That cunning human boy!"

"What do we do now? The Evil Gods are split into two groups, but we only have one trap. What about the other group?"

"You stay here. We'll go to the other side."

Artemis took the Olympian Gods and sped off in the direction Diana had vanished. The Ancient Indian Gods joined them. The Celestial Court, Ancient Egyptian, African Witchcraft, and Mayan pantheons remained behind.

The Plain of White Bones was once the main base of the Human Gods. To win the war, the Gods had infused the land with vast amounts of magic. Tens of thousands of spells combined to form an incredibly powerful magic array.

After the war was lost, many arrays were destroyed, but a few remained, becoming the trump card of the tentacle monsters.

Now was the time to unleash its power.
