Chapter 439 - Chapter 407: When in Doubt...

Just as Su Ming was enjoying the spectacle, a massive golden face in the sky spoke. It manifested two enormous arms, struggling against Hecate's attack, while posing a question to her.

"Why do you want to destroy me? I, Rama Kushna, have long simply guarded the boundary between life and death, guiding the deceased to a place of peace. I have not interfered in your matters."

The gigantic voice echoed across the sky. Su Ming couldn't help but hear it, as this mountain peak broadcast had only one channel.

Moreover, the program featured something like Godzilla or Ultraman; the most crucial part was that these two monsters could talk, which was indeed quite noisy.

"You haven't done well enough, my sister..." Hecate's enormous form was also a manifestation of her magic. Clearly, she was more experienced than the Inverted Man in turning intangible changes into tangible things: "The world is about to be destroyed, and magic will be nothing but a burden. I will set it ablaze and find something better to replace it."

Su Ming and his three companions stood on the city wall, listening to the conversation between the two goddesses.

"Oh, this proposal actually isn't bad, considering that the mysterious powers of the world are not just limited to witchcraft." Albella seemed to agree with Hecate's words.

Su Ming didn't comment, after all, Albella belonged to the Hell Faction, and the abolition of witchcraft didn't concern her. This was maybe a classic case of speaking without feeling any pain as one stood by.

Most other warlocks, however, likely wouldn't share this opinion.

"What are you thinking?" Bo Bo looked up, staring at Deathstroke's face, even though he could only see his chin.

"I'm pondering what purpose Luthor aims to achieve by instigating this..." Su Ming pointed to Diana and then to Hecate.

"Purpose?"

"Yes, every action has a motive, right? Yet I don't see what Luthor stands to gain from this ordeal," Su Ming quietly listened to the goddesses' dialogue.

Bo Bo stroked his chin thoughtfully.

Motive is a crucial aspect of criminal theory; even the most perverse killer has a purpose.

For instance, wanting to consume someone's liver or wanting to skin someone to make a jacket — those are purposes.

As for Luthor's purpose, nobody seems to know, or perhaps they only know a very flimsy concept: 'destruction.'

What does that destruction represent? What benefit would it bring to him?

There's no clue in that area.

Hecate had now retracted that portion of Witch Fire power, which was about a fifth of her complete form.

The portion of power within Diana was being used to control her actions.

The other two portions of power were temporarily hidden by Deathstroke.

It's impossible for Hecate to work for Luthor, only Circe might. And this type of magical benefit was likely a plan targeting Circe.

Could it be Luthor's reward for Circe to make her work for him?

And what role did Naboo play in these events?

Su Ming glanced at the thoughtful gorilla, knowing too little about these magical matters. If even Bo Bo couldn't figure it out, then chances are no one could come up with a reasonable guess.

"Aren't you going to save Diana?"

Turning his head, he saw Donna looking at her wistfully, like an abandoned little animal, eagerly staring at Su Ming.

Su Ming gritted his teeth, shaking his head slightly: "Currently Kushina and Hecate are almost evenly matched, I can certainly go down there to control Diana... But doing so will inevitably lead to Hecate reclaiming the energy within Diana, forming an absolute advantage over Kushina, which would spell disaster for everyone."

Albella, watching the skies from the side, nodded in agreement: "Deathstroke is right. If any of us gets hit by Diana now, it probably won't kill us immediately, but if we get hit by Hecate's actual form, any of us wouldn't withstand it."

"So what should we do?" Donna was momentarily at a loss, standing with a shield and Treasure Sword, unsure of her next move.

"There's a way, but I can't guarantee it will work." Su Ming looked at the group, seeking their opinions.

Albella didn't mind; if she died, she'd just go to Hell, a place as familiar as her backyard.

The gorilla lowered his head to look at the Night Blade in his hands, also agreeing to give it a try.

Sometimes one has to attempt the seemingly hopeless, especially in cases where the odds are fifty-fifty?

He remembered the Master of the Dark Night. If there had been even a small chance of success back then, he wouldn't have died fighting in the Forgotten Bar.

Donna nodded even more directly, eager to rescue Diana as soon as possible, putting her at ease sooner.

Su Ming laughed silently, pleased that everyone agreed, though he hadn't stated his position.

If anything went wrong, it wouldn't be his responsibility. He kept this backup plan just in case, ready to find someone else to blame should things go awry.

Quickly, he took out his phone from his pocket, dialing a few numbers. Before he could speak, a red figure appeared by his side.

"Uh, why so proactive this time?" Su Ming heard the phone ring next to him, reluctantly hanging up.

"Oh, Batman just upgraded the Hall of Justice's mainframe's positioning algorithm. Now even if you're in a magically shielded place like Shangri-La, it can roughly calculate your position based on your previous speed and trajectory, plus psychological and logical reasoning..."

"Stop right there, that's enough. After all, this phone is just for temporary use." Su Ming wrapped an arm around Barry's neck, patting his shoulder in a brotherly manner.

There's no choice. To deal with the vastly enhanced Wonder Woman, they must employ old tactics to gain a crushing advantage.

"Have you eaten?"

Barry first greeted everyone with a smile, then curiously glanced around; surrounded by a sea of fire, unsure of what to say.

Gazing at the Eastern-style city walls and streets around him, he instinctively asked the Eastern customary greeting.

"No..." Su Ming habitually answered, pointing towards Diana, who was hunting mages below.

Barry took a deep breath, focusing on the giant in the sky, previously unnoticed that Diana had transformed into that.

"She got some new makeup?" Barry hissed, glancing at Diana, covered in purple light, eyes appearing to flow black liquid, opting to jest immediately.

"It was a gift. See that Giant God over there? Use this Purple Light Night Cream, and you won't be yourself anymore."

"Pfft..." Barry covered his mouth, snickering, Diana's current appearance was indeed quite different from usual, especially between the fleeing Swamp Monster and Constantine, their expressions were genuinely amusing.

"Ahem, she's a traditional Amazon; she doesn't use such 'decadent indulgence' items like makeup."

Donna watched Deathstroke and Barry veer off topic, her expression lifeless as she reminded them from behind.

Why is the Flash so close to Deathstroke? She had no idea.

"Hmm!" Barry stifled his laughter, rubbing his face, focusing on Su Ming: "Alright, the plan is to control Diana first, right? What's your tactical arrangement?"

"Remember Hero? It's the same tactic."

Su Ming took a deep breath, placing his hand on Barry's shoulder, feeling the Divine Speed begin to spread once more.

"Ugh..."

Barry heaved dryly, and Su Ming nodded; apparently, Barry had a strong impression of Hero, which was precisely what they needed.
