Silence had won over us again.
But not for long.
Zeref stood, and the look on his face made every alarm in my body go off at once.
He took a step forward.
I stepped back.
He did it again.
So I did too.
Until my back hit the wall.
Both his arms came up on either side of me, caging me in. This was going to end up somewhere else entirely.
I was glad Kael wasn't here. Because if he was... I'd be doomed. In a good way.
"Eunji... Tell me if you want me to stop before I start."
Like he would actually stop. I swallowed hard. The heat coming off him was contagious.
I could still feel it, the desperation. The need to be assured.
So I didn't push him away.
I wrapped my arms around him and tiptoed to kiss him first.
He melted into it immediately and lifted me up, pinning me against the wall.
I was right.
The desperation was still there, radiating off every movement.
Worry.
Uncertainty.
