"What?" I questioned, startled by the anger in her voice. Even though her entire demeanor suggested she was more afraid than angry.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
Harper's gaze locked onto mine briefly, saying nothing. Then she looked around. A small gasp escaped her parted lips, like she was only just realizing she was indeed in my house.
She shivered, and I moved closer, trying to catch her as she swayed. But she stumbled backward. Then, in an instant, she fell forward.
"Harper!"
I caught her, wrapping my arms around her drenched clothes. Her body shook violently. She clasped my forearm tightly.
"Help me, Dominic."
She whispered, then her eyes fluttered closed.bI stared at her still figure for a few seconds, bewildered, wondering what to do.
This was just like the first time she had appeared in front of me, fainting right into my arms. And it was as if I hadn't learned any survival skills in those five years.
