A few days ago, I left the lodge. Even though I had intended to stay there for as long as I wanted, I hadn't been able to come across Harper.
Not because I didn't try or hadn't seen her when she and her fiancé were outside making out… it was because I just never wanted to approach her.
She already thought of me as a creep and, even though I didn't mind at this moment, I believed I had made enough progress with her back at the hospital with her friend. I didn't want to ruin it.
"It's going to storm," Jason said, leaning toward the open window and staring at the sky.
I looked back from where I was seated and saw the grey clouds hovering. My thoughts immediately went to Harper.
Rain. She hated the rain.
Even though she never told me the reason and even tried to deny it, I couldn't help but wonder if she was doing fine now.
But I shouldn't even worry about her because she had a fiancé. He was going to worry about her more than I ever could.
