I woke up with a feeling of happiness I couldn't remember ever having before.
Last night kept replaying in my mind, the sound of the door opening, Raizel's presence beside my bed, his hand on my face, and then the kiss, brief and gentle and completely unexpected.
He'd kissed me.
I got up and went through my morning routine almost in a daze. The bath felt warmer than usual, when I got dressed, I found myself standing in front of the mirror longer than necessary, adjusting my hair. Making sure it looked good.
The thought made me pause, why did I care how my hair looked? But I knew the answer, I wanted to look good for him.
I left my room and headed to the dining hall, my heart beating faster with each step, would he be there already? Would he look at me differently today? Would I be able to hide that I'd been awake last night, that I knew what he'd done?
