Damian stood in the spot Ava had occupied just hours before, his hand tucked into his pocket as he replayed the way she left. The memory of her walking away from him, leaving a trail, lingered like an ache in his chest. He ran a hand through his hair because her face wouldn't stop popping up in his mind, he remebered her scent when she was close to him, the look in her eyes when she stared at him and... How he wanted her to stay longer even though he asked her to leave. His thoughts interrupted by his phone's insistent buzz.
He picked up the call, his expression unreadable as he listened to the caller. "I'll be there soon," he said, his voice low and even, before ending the call.
