"Do it then," Valentina challenged her.
"I am really going to shoot you, Valentina. At least it is one more problem I'll be getting rid of."
"Then do it, you coward! But do you think it'll change anything? Do you think it'll make Luciano love you or want you in a way that is not out of pity?"
"You don't know what you're saying," she screamed out roughly. "He loves me. He adores me. You are the problem!"
"No," she shook her head vigorously. "Your blindness is the problem. Say you kill me, then what? He'll love you? Another woman will probably come around and you'll have to kill her too. And then another, and then a–"
Her hand went to the trigger. "I will fucking shoot if you don't stop talking, Val!
"And then another," she continued fearlessly. "Because it's not these women that are the problem. It's your inability to read the room. Can't you see how pathetic it is to fake an incurable disease just to be with a man?!"
