Cu Chulainn's reason for joining the Holy Grail War was simple.
He wanted a good fight.
It didn't matter whether his opponent was a monster, a god, a human, or a Heroic Spirit.
So when he entered the Dungeon and was met with endless monsters, he was excited at first.
But as the fighting went on, something started to feel off.
There were a lot of monsters.
But none of them were strong.
Most of them fell in a single blow.
Even with their numbers, the one-sided, musou-style slaughter quickly became boring.
"I say, Master, aren't there any stronger enemies?"
After clearing another wave and while collecting magic stones, Cu Chulainn complained to Emiya.
"There are," Emiya replied. "They're deeper down. The Dungeon has a special structure. The deeper you go, the stronger the monsters get. At the very bottom, there might even be a dragon or something like that."
Cu Chulainn's blood immediately ignited.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's head straight down."
Despite fighting countless battles and even rejecting a goddess's advances, he had never faced a dragon head-on.
And he wasn't alone.
Among the Heroic Spirits in the Throne of Heroes, only a handful had ever fought dragons.
Saint Martha. Siegfried. Beowulf.
You could count them on one hand.
So the moment he heard there might be a dragon below, Cu Chulainn couldn't wait.
Emiya thought about it briefly.
Then he agreed.
Stronger monsters meant purer magic stones.
One stone could be worth hundreds of lesser ones.
And the group itself was more than capable.
Cu Chulainn was the son of the sun god.
Medea was a disciple of Hecate.
As long as she had enough mana, she could freely cast high-level magic.
Artoria was the Eternal King of Britain.
And even Bazett, the weakest combatant among them, possessed Fragarach-a Noble Phantasm that could drag any Heroic Spirit down with her.
So without hesitation, they descended straight to the 50th floor.
A level only a handful of Familia could reach.
To be precise, only the Loki Familia and the Freya Familia.
The monsters there were stronger with each step.
But before Medea's magic, they might as well have been nothing.
She hovered in midair, chanting rapidly.
Layer after layer of magic circles unfolded.
Then Mana Bullets rained down like a storm.
Beams of light pierced straight through monster bodies.
In moments, the entire area was cleared by Medea alone.
The group continued downward.
51st floor.
As monsters appeared, Cu Chulainn laughed.
"Let me handle this!"
He stomped down with his right foot.
The ground exploded.
And his body shot forward like a beam of light.
His demonic spear danced freely.
SWISH.
SWISH.
SWISH.
SWISH.
One monster after another fell, collapsing into piles of magic stones.
52nd floor.
Artoria stepped forward, Excalibur raised high.
Endless light burst from the holy sword.
The King of Victory.
The King of the Undefeated.
She unleashed the signature skill of the Saber class.
"Excalibur!"
When Emiya said "Saber," he didn't mean just Artoria.
All Sabers shared one thing.
The light beam.
A Saber who couldn't fire a beam wasn't a real Saber.
And would probably be looked down on by the others.
Artoria's beam swept across the floor, erasing every monster in its path.
Magic stones fell like rain.
Emiya collected them one by one.
They continued downward.
An hour later, they reached the 60th floor.
In the DanMachi plot, this was a level even the Loki and Freya Familias couldn't fully explore.
The monsters here were genuinely terrifying.
Even Cu Chulainn felt pressure.
As for Bazett, although she possessed Fragarach, without using it, any monster here could kill her.
At this point, she was clearly holding the team back.
She understood that herself.
"I can't continue," Bazett said bluntly. "It's better if you send me back first."
Emiya nodded.
He sent her back to the Type-Moon world and immediately returned.
The entire process took less than a minute.
They pressed on.
Deep within the 60th floor, they encountered the floor boss.
A massive red dragon.
"I didn't expect a dragon down here," Emiya said, instinctively glancing at Artoria.
She was also known as the Red Dragon of Britain.
With the Dragon Factor-her dragon heart-she didn't even need magic circuits.
As long as her blood flowed and she breathed, mana was generated.
A magical core on a completely different level.
Honestly, Emiya wanted something like that too.
"No," Artoria said calmly. "It's not a true dragon. It's a wyvern."
With the Dragon Factor, she could immediately tell the bloodline was impure.
Before another word could be spoken, Cu Chulainn charged forward.
Wyvern or dragon-it didn't matter.
Today, he would kill it.
And become a true dragon slayer.
Medea and Artoria exchanged a glance.
Neither intervened.
They let Cu Chulainn fight alone.
Emiya watched from the side and casually asked Medea, "Do we have enough magic stones?"
"More than enough," Medea replied with a smile.
From the 30th floor to the 60th.
Thousands of monsters.
An overwhelming harvest.
Purifying All the World's Evil wouldn't even make a dent.
Emiya nodded and returned his attention to the battle.
With sufficient mana, Cu Chulainn's true power was unleashed.
His strength, speed, and reflexes were all terrifying.
And his demonic spear was impossibly sharp.
Even a real dragon's scales could be torn apart.
A wyvern stood no chance.
The battle was brutal.
Broken scales scattered like flower petals.
Blood sprayed into the air, falling like rain.
At that moment, Medea spoke.
"Master. These are all valuable materials."
Emiya's eyes moved.
Using Telekinesis, he collected every scale and drop of dragon blood, handing them to Medea.
She smiled faintly.
"When we return, I'll use this dragon blood along with other materials to brew a Dragon's Blood Potion. It will strengthen your physique even further."
"I'll be counting on you," Emiya said.
"It's my duty," Medea replied softly.
The battle continued.
Cu Chulainn couldn't finish the monster quickly.
The red dragon's vitality was overwhelming.
Even compared to Emiya's accumulated life force, the dragon still exceeded it by two or three times.
Its endurance was monstrous.
Cu Chulainn had inflicted over a hundred wounds.
Enough blood to fill a swimming pool had spilled.
Yet the dragon still lived.
Its aura weakened only slightly.
That was all.
The fight dragged on for more than an hour.
The surrounding area was completely devastated.
The ground looked as though it had been bombarded.
Half of it had melted into magma from dragonfire.
The heat alone would dehydrate and kill an ordinary person in minutes.
Finally, after being sent flying once more by the dragon's claws, Cu Chulainn made his decision.
"Gáe Bolg!"
He stomped down.
The ground shattered.
With a roar, he hurled the spear.
SWOOSH.
A streak of light tore through the air.
Causality reversed.
The spear pierced the dragon's heart.
Entering through the abdomen.
Exiting through the back.
And crashing into the Dungeon ceiling.
The explosion shattered the ceiling.
Rubble rained down with a deafening roar.
The dragon screamed.
But with its heart destroyed, death was inevitable.
Even so, it took another quarter of an hour to finally perish.
Its body turned to black ash, dispersing into nothingness.
All that remained was an enormous magic stone.
In Orario, it would sell for over a hundred million.
But Emiya had no intention of selling it.
He stored it away.
Magic stones of this size were rare.
By the time he finished, Cu Chulainn had retrieved his spear.
He shook the blood from his body and grinned.
"Hey, Master. I think I saw a hot spring on the way here. Want to soak for a bit?"
After battle, nothing relaxed tense muscles better.
Emiya looked at Medea and Artoria.
"What do you think?"
"I have no objections," Medea said.
Artoria nodded.
"Relaxing after battle is reasonable."
With no objections, the group headed for the hot spring.
