"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 225: Love Fortune Slip

In the shrine courtyard, Yotsuba tugged Draconis Yi beneath a leafy tree.

"Crouch down," she ordered, eyes bright with mischief.

Draconis Yi raised an eyebrow. "What's up?"

"Just help me out!" Yotsuba shook his arm, bouncing with impatience.

With a resigned sigh, Draconis Yi crouched, only for Yotsuba to swing her leg over his shoulders, settling herself on top.

"Okay, lift me! I can reach it this way," she declared, perched high and triumphant.

A middle-aged woman emerged from the shrine, a badminton racket in one hand, a young girl trailing behind her. The woman set down a small stool nearby, glancing at the pair with a smile.

Draconis Yi looked up. A shuttlecock was tangled in the branches overhead. Yotsuba stretched, fingers just shy of the prize.

"All this fuss for a shuttlecock?" Draconis Yi chuckled, steadying Yotsuba's legs as she reached. "You could've just asked me."

"I did ask you! I can't jump that high—almost, but not quite…" Yotsuba grinned, undeterred.

Her stamina was impressive, but the tree was taller than even she could manage. Draconis Yi sighed.

"You know, just because you can't reach doesn't mean I can't. Or did you just want an excuse to ride on my shoulders?"

"Eh? Really?" Yotsuba blinked, genuinely surprised. "Oops—I forgot!"

The woman and girl laughed, the younger cheering, "You can do it, big sister!"

Ha—no love for the guy doing the heavy lifting.

Draconis Yi braced Yotsuba's thighs, keeping her steady.

"Um… Yi, a little higher, please?" Yotsuba giggled, sheepish now that she realized her plan might've been a bit silly. If he jumped, he'd probably snag the shuttlecock with ease.

"Hold tight," Draconis Yi warned, then planted his hands on her hips and lifted—effortless, supernatural strength on full display.

"Whoa—!" Yotsuba squealed as she soared upward, grabbing the shuttlecock and tossing it down to the little girl.

The onlookers gaped.

"Mama, he's so strong!" the girl exclaimed.

"Y-yes, he certainly is…" the woman agreed, still surprised.

Draconis Yi didn't miss a beat. With Yotsuba still on his shoulders, he jogged around the courtyard, making a show of it.

"Put me down!" Yotsuba laughed, clinging tight.

"Am I your personal ride now?" Draconis Yi teased, swaying deliberately so she squeaked and giggled.

"Ah—stop, stop! I'm gonna fall! Your hair's tickling me—" she protested, half laughing, half pleading.

Finally, Draconis Yi set her down, both grinning.

The shrine keeper watched them, eyes twinkling. "You two make a lovely couple. Want to draw a love fortune slip? The gods will bless you!"

"Eh? Love fortune slip?" Yotsuba's face turned crimson, caught off guard.

Draconis Yi almost laughed aloud—was this a sales pitch or divine matchmaking? Did a demon really need heavenly blessings? Good thing there was a peace treaty these days; in the old days, shrines were off-limits for his kind.

Still, he smiled and nodded. Why not play along?

He paid the fee, and Yotsuba drew a slip. She unfolded it—highest luck.

"Wow! Top fortune!" Yotsuba beamed.

"Of course," Draconis Yi muttered under his breath. If it had been bad luck, he'd have marched straight to Michael and demanded an explanation—was Heaven's matchmaking system trying to sabotage couples now?

With the love fortune slip in hand, Yotsuba looked absolutely delighted. All five sisters were now officially his girlfriends, so surely they'd always be together—right? That thought filled her with joy.

As they left the shrine, Draconis Yi asked, "Think these fortunes are legit?"

"Of course! They have to be!" Yotsuba replied, then paused, suddenly thoughtful. "Wait… but Yi, aren't you a demon?"

"You just realized?" Draconis Yi grinned. "That's why I asked."

Yotsuba's face fell. "Does that mean the fortune doesn't count…?"

Draconis Yi squeezed her hand. "Doesn't matter. Even without the slip, we'll always be together."

Yotsuba's smile returned, brighter than ever. "Right! I'm going to show everyone!"

She dashed off, waving the slip at her sisters, who shot Draconis Yi affectionate glances in return.

They lingered on the mountaintop until noon, the sun growing hot overhead. Eventually, everyone made their way back to the Toragari Hot Spring Inn.

With rare free time, the quintuplets chose to spend the afternoon with their grandfather.

Draconis Yi kept his distance—he could feel the old man's protective glare, as if he'd pounce the moment Yi got too close to his beloved granddaughters. Yi understood; treasures like these weren't given away lightly.

Daylight slipped by, and evening settled in.

The sisters gathered in front of the TV, feigning relaxation but secretly sizing each other up. Nino and Miku, having tasted romance, schemed quietly about how to get the others out of the way for some alone time with Draconis Yi.

Ichika, Yotsuba, and Itsuki were late to the game, but their minds were already working on ways to snag their own moments with him.

Draconis Yi himself didn't mind—he'd welcome all five at once. But they were still too pure, too shy; maybe someday, but not tonight.

So the sisters plotted and counter-plotted, each determined not to lose ground. As the night wore on, no one managed to break the stalemate.

For a while, despair hung in the air.

Too difficult… each girl sighed inwardly.
