Chapter 9 - Dragon's

Meanwhile in that of Hermonia Corp, a few minutes later.

Shinku was checking documents, financial records of their held items and what was sold for this month, as he got a call.

He picked up his landline and put it close to his ear. "Yes"

The person on the other end spoke. "Sir, someone is here to see you, it's Jenny".

Shinku blinked as she sighed. "Send her in".

After a few minutes, Jenny walked into Shinku's office.

Shinku looked at Jenny as he spoke, greeting her like an old Friend. "Jenny, it's been a while. How have you been?".

Jenny sat down on the chair and cut to the point. "Your son found a Noibat".

Shinku leaned back in his chair, setting down his pen beside the open ledger. "A Noibat?"

Jenny nodded. "Yes. Wild. Injured. Found in the middle of Goldenrod Park."

For a second, the only sound in the room was the faint ticking of the ornate clock behind him.

Shinku's expression didn't change much, but the faint crease between his brows deepened. "That's… impossible. Noibat don't migrate this far west. The species is native to the far eastern mountain ranges."

Jenny crossed her arms. "Tell that to the one clinging to your kid's leg. Joy confirmed it's real — even ran a scan. No Poké Ball registration, no chip, no prior record. Wild-born."

Shinku's fingers tapped lightly against the desk. "And my son?"

Jenny smirked faintly. "Perfectly fine. Curious as always — though the Noibat seems… oddly attached to him."

Shinku gave a small, knowing sigh. "Of course it does. The boy attracts trouble like a magnet."

Jenny leaned forward, lowering her voice. "I don't think this is normal, Shinku. The readings on that thing were strange — elevated energy, same wavelength we saw in your Frostflame Project years ago."

That made Shinku's eyes narrow ever so slightly. "You're certain?"

"Positive," Jenny said, pulling a small datapad from her coat. "Joy ran a quick aura scan out of curiosity. Look."

She tapped the screen, and a faint hologram projected above it — a pulsating field of violet energy surrounding the Noibat.

Jenny continued, her tone low. "Same resonance frequency. This wasn't random, Shinku. If a Dragon-type from the East is showing up here, in Johto, something's shifting. Maybe… connected to whatever you and your father were studying back then."

Shinku was silent for a long moment. Then, finally, he said, "Thank you, Jenny. Leave the report with me. I'll handle this from here."

Jenny studied him for a second, then stood up, pushing her chair back. "Be careful, Shinku. The last time your family got involved with something like this, half of Saffron's radar went haywire."

He smiled faintly — that same calm, measured expression that never quite reached his eyes. "I'll keep that in mind."

As she left, closing the office door behind her, Shinku turned toward the large window overlooking Goldenrod City — his reflection dark against the bright skyline.

Under his breath, he muttered, "A Noibat, here of all places… and drawn to him."

His gaze drifted to the framed photo on his desk — one of his family, with Ethan and Kitsu smiling wide.

"…Just like the dragons before," he whispered.

Shinku looked at Jenny, holding up the Poké Ball containing Abismodible. "Do you think it's another Pokémon trafficking ring?"

Jenny crossed her arms, her expression dark. "What do you think, Shinku? Noibat don't just appear in Johto out of nowhere. And when I traced the energy residue… it led underground."

Shinku's eyes narrowed. "Under Goldenrod…"

Jenny nodded. "Exactly. We've suspected something down there for months — missing Dragon Eggs, strange black-market shipments. Your son finding that Noibat might've just cracked the case wide open."

Shinku exhaled through his nose, then set the Poké Ball onto his belt. "Good. I've been meaning to stretch my legs anyway."

Jenny gave a small smirk. "You mean, unleash that thing."

Shinku smiled faintly. "You know me too well."

A few hours later

The Hermonia estate was a scene out of legend.

The once-tranquil gardens were now alive with energy — Dragon-types of every kind rested on the grass, the air humming with draconic roars and rumbling breaths. Salamence, Flygon, Haxorus, and even an old Dragonite stood alert, their scales glinting under the moonlight.

Ethan and Kitsu stood at the balcony, their eyes wide in awe.

Ethan blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of what he was seeing.

"In the name of Arceus… what the hell happened?"

Down below, their father stood beside Officer Jenny, his coat fluttering slightly in the evening wind as they spoke in low voices.

Jenny shook her head. "Turns out it was a full smuggling ring. Underground caverns right beneath Goldenrod. They were breeding and experimenting on Dragon-types — illegally, I might add."

Shinku's expression hardened. "And the Noibat?"

Jenny crossed her arms. "Was one of the escapees. Poor thing must've crawled all the way to the surface after breaking free. If your son hadn't found it…" she paused, looking at the Pokémon resting safely nearby in a Poké Ball cradle, "we might have missed the entire operation."

Shinku glanced toward the balcony where Ethan was standing, his red eyes glowing faintly in the distance. A subtle, thoughtful look crossed his face.

He muttered quietly, "Noibat found him, not the other way around."

Jenny blinked. "What do you mean?"

Shinku simply smiled, eyes never leaving his son. "Just a feeling."

Jenny looked at him seriously. "So… what now?"

Shinku adjusted his coat, glancing around at the dragons that now rested calmly across the estate. "Now?" He exhaled. "I'm going to contact the Champion. He'll forward the report to the Unova Dragon Village—Drayden can take these dragons home."

Jenny raised an eyebrow. "Drayden, huh? You're still in touch with him?"

Shinku smirked faintly. "He still owes me a favor from the Opelucid Conference. And besides—no one handles Dragon-types better than him."

Jenny nodded, crossing her arms as she watched a Flygon lift its wings experimentally. "Good call. These dragons aren't just displaced… some of them were experimented on. The sooner they're in Unova's care, the better."

Shinku's expression hardened. "I'll send them there personally if I have to."

Jenny smiled slightly at his tone. "Still as stubborn as ever."

He looked at her and chuckled. "Would you expect anything less from a Harmonia?"

Jenny laughed softly, shaking her head. "Not in the slightest."

Later that night…

The Hermonia mansion was silent, bathed in the cool glow of the moonlight that poured through the tall windows. Everyone had gone to bed after the chaos of the day — everyone except Ethan.

He sat cross-legged on his bed, the small Noibat resting against his lap, wrapped in a warm towel. Its breathing was steady now, the pain from its injured wing mostly gone thanks to Nurse Joy's treatment.

Ethan smiled faintly, whispering, "You really had me worried, you know that?"

The Noibat's ears twitched, letting out a soft "Naii…" — a weak but happy sound.

Ethan chuckled quietly. "You're welcome."

Then, it happened again.

That strange sensation.

A pull in his chest — deep, ancient, and heavy. Like something buried inside him was answering the Pokémon's presence. The air shimmered faintly around them, and for a moment, his reflection in the window shifted — his eyes glowing faintly purple, and behind him, a faint silhouette of something vast and draconic spread its wings.

Noibat stirred, sensing it too. Instead of fear, it pressed closer to Ethan, wings trembling but eyes calm.

Ethan froze, whispering, "You… can feel it too, huh?"

A gust of unseen wind rippled through the room, stirring the curtains, though the windows were closed. The purple glow in his eyes flickered, dimmed, then vanished.

Noibat yawned, curling up against him again as if nothing had happened.

Ethan stared at the ceiling, his mind racing.

"Arceus… what's happening to me?" he thought, his heart still beating with that same rhythm — one that echoed like the wingbeats of a dragon.

The next morning, a car rolled by, and out came a tall, muscular, and imposing man with white hair; he was wearing a white, short-sleeved shirt. He looked to be in his 30s

[Insert image of Drayden]

(Author Note: I am actually not sure how old he would be, before the actual start of the BW games, even, seeing the Pokémon world follows our world in ear, and current year is 1984, in this fanfic, so I made him 3 decades younger, and didn't give him the beard.)

Shinku looked at the men. "It's been a while, old friend".

Drayden looked at Shinku, then saw all the wild Dragon-type. "Yes, it has been, I came as soon as I got your call overseas".

Drayden's heavy boots crunched against the stone pathway as he stepped into the Hermonia estate's garden, his sharp eyes scanning the dragons scattered around. Flygon, Gible, Axew, and even a few Deino were calmly being tended to by caretakers. It was rare to see so many dragon-types outside of Unova's Dragon Village — even rarer in Johto.

Drayden crossed his arms, his voice carrying that commanding yet calm tone. "I can't believe something like this was happening beneath Goldenrod City. You said these were trafficked dragons?"

Shinku nodded, his expression serious. "Yes. Officer Jenny confirmed it. It's likely the remnants of an international smuggling ring. They were moving dragons from the east—some even from your village—through underground routes beneath Johto."

Drayden's eyes darkened slightly. "They dared to steal from the Dragon Clan… unforgivable." He took a slow breath before turning his gaze toward the mansion balcony. "And where is the one who found the Noibat?"

Shinku smirked faintly. "My son, Ethan. He's inside — probably still half-asleep."

Drayden chuckled, the sound deep and genuine. "He must have strong instincts to stumble upon a dragon in distress… and strong luck to have survived the reaction that kind of presence provokes."

Shinku raised an eyebrow. "Reaction?"

Drayden turned, his gaze sharp. "Dragons can feel their own kind. Especially pure-blooded or ancient ones. Even a newly born Noibat would recognize a dragon aura if it sensed one. You're saying the little one sought out your boy?"

Shinku nodded. "Flew right to him, even with a broken wing. Jenny said it refused to leave his side."

Drayden's expression shifted — curious now, almost intrigued. "Hmph… interesting." He looked at Shinku, a rare smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Perhaps I should meet this boy of yours."

Shinku smirked. "Good luck with that — he's probably going to think you're here to lecture him for feeding a dragon too many berries."

Drayden folded his arms, half amused. "If he truly drew in a dragon's trust, then maybe he doesn't need a lecture… maybe he needs guidance."

Drayden then continue. "Now, where is the Champion"

"Here, old man"

They turn there head too see Someone landing down with Togakiss, he has spiky hair and brown eyes, and glasses.

Compair to his Champion look he is wearing a casual outfits, this was nun other then Elm Jr, or as he will be know in the future as Professor Elm

As he was the current Champion of Johto and it's strongest.

(Author Note: as much as this makes no sense, you have to deal with the fact that, Lance is 9 right about now).

Drayden turned toward the voice, his imposing presence softening slightly as he spotted the man stepping off the Togekiss' back.

"Elm Jr.," Drayden said with a grin. "Still making dramatic entrances, I see."

Elm chuckled, brushing a bit of wind-tossed hair from his glasses. "What can I say? Flying beats traffic."

Shinku smiled faintly. "Champion of Johto and still acts like a ten-year-old."

Elm shrugged. "Hey, you try running the entire League, teaching part-time at the Pokémon Research Institute, and dealing with reporters asking about Lance's training schedule."

Drayden laughed quietly. "You mean the red-haired kid who keeps shouting that he'll surpass you one day?"

"That's the one," Elm said, clearly both proud and exasperated. "He's got potential, I'll give him that — but I swear if he challenges me one more time in the middle of a grocery store…"

Shinku coughed, cutting the humor before it spiraled. "Alright, back to business." He motioned toward the garden full of dragons. "These were all found under Goldenrod City. Ethan — my youngest — found the Noibat that led us to the operation."

Elm's expression turned serious as he adjusted his glasses and walked among the dragons. "They're all Dragon-types, and… remarkably calm for what they've been through." He crouched beside a Gible and gently placed his hand on its head. "Whoever's running this ring knows what they're doing. They've been sedating and conditioning them."

Drayden's gaze darkened again. "Cowards hiding behind syringes and cages…"

Elm nodded grimly. "I'll coordinate with the League to start cleanup operations. We'll handle the local routes and underground tunnels. You'll handle the Dragon Village side?"

Drayden crossed his arms. "Already planned to. No dragon of mine stays lost."

There was a brief silence — only the rustle of wings and the distant hum of the estate.

Then Elm straightened, his usual calm confidence returning. "By the way, Shinku… where's that kid of yours? The one with the dragon magnet powers?"

Shinku groaned. "Don't start."

Drayden smirked. "Oh, I definitely want to meet him now."

The golden light of morning spilled through the Harmonia dining hall's massive windows. The family table was crowded as usual — filled with chatter, clinking dishes, and the sound of Ember and Kitsu arguing over who ate the last Oran pancake.

"Hey! That was mine!" Kitsu puffed her cheeks.

Ember grinned. "Finders keepers!"

Ethan quietly sipped his juice, hoping to avoid being dragged into another sibling breakfast war — until Akagi leaned over with a mischievous smirk.

"So…" she began, her tone dangerously playful. "Our little hero saved a Noibat yesterday, huh?"

Ethan froze mid-sip. "Uh— I just… found it."

Asagi smirked, waving her spoon. "Mhm. Found it. Next thing we know, he'll be taming Dragonite in the backyard."

Midori added while reading the morning paper, "If he does, I'm not feeding it."

Violet, who was quietly buttering toast, finally spoke. "Given how many dragons are literally outside right now, that might not be a joke."

Ethan groaned and slumped into his chair. "Why do I feel like I'm never gonna live this down…"

Kitsu giggled beside him, Flareon sitting on her lap. "Because you won't~ Big bro's the dragon whisperer now!"

"...Please don't start calling me that."

Before anyone could make another joke, the sound of the front gates opening echoed faintly through the hall — a deep rumbling of engines and footsteps.

Crimson, sipping his coffee, raised a brow. "Looks like our guests arrived."

Shinku stood from his seat, straightening his jacket. "Everyone behave. These aren't ordinary visitors."

Ethan blinked. "Wait—visitors? Who?"

Shinku just smiled. "You'll see."

Outside, several Dragon-types rested calmly in the garden while a few League transport vehicles were parked nearby.

Two figures stood out immediately: Drayden — towering, broad-shouldered, his presence commanding; and beside him, a younger man with brown spiky hair and glasses — Elm Jr., the Champion himself.

Ethan stepped out with his family, eyes widening as he saw Drayden's cape fluttering slightly in the wind.

His whole face lit up. "No way… that's Drayden! The Dragon Master of Unova!"

Kitsu tugged his sleeve, whispering excitedly, "He looks so cool!"

Ethan nodded, grinning ear to ear — until his father spoke next.

"And this," Shinku said, gesturing toward the brown-haired young man beside Drayden, "is the current Champion of Johto — Elm Jr."

Ethan froze.

His grin vanished. His brain completely short-circuited.

That's… Elm. Professor Elm.

The same man who'd handed him his first PokéDex in his previous life. The one who told him, "You're destined for great things, Ethan."

But here he was — eighteen, confident, and the Champion of Johto.

Ethan blinked several times, mouth opening slightly. "Huh—wha—Elm? Professor—Champion—wait—what!?"

Drayden blinked, looking down at the stunned boy. "...Is he okay?"

Kitsu snorted, barely holding in her laughter. "He's just broken again."

Elm chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I get that a lot. Usually from people realizing I'm not some old man with a lab coat."

Shinku sighed, amused. "Welcome to the family chaos."

Ethan finally managed to mutter under his breath, "Arceus help me, this timeline's weird."

Drayden's sharp eyes flickered — a subtle gleam of recognition passing through them as he folded his arms. The air around him grew heavier for a moment, like a dragon sizing up its prey.

He turned to Shinku. "Shinku… my Aura is reacting to your son."

The entire garden froze.

Even the wild Dragon-types lifted their heads, sensing the sudden shift.

Ethan's heart skipped a beat. Oh no. Oh no, no, no—

Drayden took a step forward, his presence almost overwhelming. "This pressure… it's faint, but familiar. I think… your son possesses the ability to use Aura."

Kitsu blinked. "Huh? Aura? Like the Lucario stuff?"

Ethan's mouth opened slightly — nothing came out.

His brain was screaming.

"Aura!? I wish I had Aura! That's not even close! This is Dragon Force, you giant muscle-bound aura detector!"

Elm, standing beside Drayden, adjusted his glasses, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. "If that's true, that's impressive. Even among League trainers, natural Aura sensitivity is rare—especially in children."

Crimson blinked, looking between them. "Wait, are you telling me my grandson might be able to talk to Pokémon and sense their emotions? Because that power's supposed to skip a generation!"

Shinku raised a brow, clearly amused but hiding it under a sigh. "Looks like the family pattern just broke, old man."

Drayden knelt slightly, meeting Ethan's eyes with surprising gentleness. "Tell me, boy… have you ever felt energy flowing through you? Like a pulse or a presence responding to your will?"

Ethan internally screamed louder. YEAH, IT'S CALLED DRAGON FORCE, NOT AURA!

He forced a nervous laugh. "Uh… maybe? A little?"

Drayden nodded approvingly, completely buying it. "Excellent. Then you have potential. The bond between dragons and Aura-users is ancient. If nurtured properly, you might grow into a true Dragon Master one day."

Kitsu gasped, eyes sparkling. "Ethan, you're gonna be like Drayden!"

Ethan smiled awkwardly. "Yeah… totally… haha…"

Inside, his thoughts were in absolute meltdown.

"Arceus above, this world just keeps stacking expectations on me! What next, Ho-Oh calling me its chosen one!?"
