Chapter 28 - Rethinking It

Syla trained under Raywen's guidance until the sun was at its highest peak, she left the academy with muscle cramps and stiff body, accompanied by the scorching sun, her little walk to her house was a challenge, she thought to herself that she should watch how her body moves in the future to avoid stretching her joints too far.

After she arrived at her house, Syla was greeted by her parents, they have prepared a meal for her at the dinner table.

"Welcome back, mom left some meat for you at the table, go wash your sweats first before you eat." Her dad said, he was lying on the couch and staring at the ceiling.

"You're bored, dad?" Syla asked after seeing her dad's lack of activities.

"Well, maybe.." He answered.

'I suppose so, he usually helped mom doing her chores, but it seems like today all of it had already been done, the house is clean.. So there's nothing left to do, unlike on earth where there's internet and modern conveniences, he literally has no idea of what to do now.' Syla thought to herself as she walked to the back of her house to wash her face.

30 Minutes later—

Syla came to the living room after eating her meal, in there she saw her dad and her mom sitting together on the couch, they seem to be in some conversation, however after Syla was there, they suddenly stopped talking as if they were hiding the conversation from her.

She noticed her parent's abrupt stop, but decided that she won't ask them about it because she knew that everyone has their secrets.

'I wonder what they're talking about.' Syla said in her mind as she walked to her bedroom, when she was holding the door handle and about to open it, her dad unexpectedly called her.

"Syla." He said, his voice calm but also serious.

Syla turned her head to see her parents, curious with what they wanted to say to her.

"Yes?" She replied.

"Do you still want to explore the world?" Her dad asked while her mom averted her gaze from her dad to her, as if waiting for her answer.

"—Well, yeah.. Why?" Syla answered after a few seconds of silence.

After she told them her answer, her parent's face seems to be frozen, they didn't smile or frown, but rather just staring at Syla, like they weren't agreeing nor disagreeing with her answer.

"Okay, thanks." Her dad said, after that he looked at her mother and gave a light nod.

Syla didn't think much of it and continue to open the door to her bedroom, she went inside and closed it tight. Now she was alone in her room, and as soon as she knew that, Syla laid on her bed and began staring at the ceiling, her eyes focused at one of the crevices that appeared there.

'That face– Even though they're not showing any emotion, but i could tell that they're worried.. Is it because of me? They're worried that something might happen if i became a wanderer, despite knowing my abilities.. Is the world that dangerous? Or are they just don't want to lose sight of their daughter?' Syla wondered.

'They didn't tell me directly, why? Maybe because they think i still don't understand the consequences? That i would be angry because im still 14 years old? It's true that usually 14 years old child is still on their growth phase, and they will stand firm to their believe, unless given proof that they can see with their own eyes, they will act as if what they're thinking is right—

'And there's nothing they can do to proof to me that the outside world is dangerous because to do that, then they would have to invite real dangers to me and the village.'

"Haahh, I have to make a choice aren't i.." Syla quietly said, sighing in contemplation. "It's either– Go outside and explore the world while leaving my parents behind, or- Stay here and live my life in this village, with my parents." She said, thinking about the choices she had, picking one would mean sacrificing something around her.

The former would meant that she will not meet with her parents again, for a possibly long amount of time just to fulfill her dreams, and there's a big possibility that when Syla came back, her parents would be much more different than what she remembered, on the other hand, the latter would meant that she will have to abandon her dreams and stays in the village, continuing this daily life until her death but forever happy to be with her parents.

"—What if i brought them along?" Syla had an idea, however she quickly brushed it off. "No.. They won't agree to it, if they really wanted to, they could just said that they wanted to go together with me, and not trying to change my mind."

Time passes by unnoticed, when Syla realized it, the sun was already at the far west, the sky had turned orange and a pleasant smell of roasted meat entered her nostril like an addictive drug.

"Huh!? Damnit– I must've dozed off.." She said, scratching the back of her head before heading towards the living room.

4 Years later—

In the demi-human village, at the dawn of the day, the sound of a predator roaring in the distance made everyone woke up, followed by the birds harmonic chirps and cold breeze, the people that lived in the village began to prepare their morning, while many are still inside their house, some decided to take a morning stroll, the roads around the village had been renovated, unlike the previous dirty path made out of soil, it was now replaced with cobblestone bricks, stretching hundreds of meters.

In the pasf 4 years since this village had its big changes with the hunting storage building, it had undergone various evolution, from the hunting academy being known to other villages and towns for it's exceptional teachers and talent it produced, the hunting academy accepting many students that are from outside the village, the village chief discovering that there was a massive cave beneath the village and that it was full of rare minerals, to the most recent one, where the village was visited by a human town's mayor, from there the demihuman village was officially in relation with the neighboring human town, Direwell, it was then given a name, Demiria.

After its relation with the town's mayor, Demiria's location began to spread wide, the news that a demihuman village was able to grow this much was unheard of, and since Demiria's territory had become one with Direwell, it now has to follow the society rule, the kingdom's coin became a mandatory currency for the people, and moving back to the current times, the village was in the middle of an expansion, with more houses being built and other facilities such as shops, blacksmiths, adventurer's guild, and even clinics.

This changes was made in hope that the world would see demihumans as the same with humans, the Direwell's mayor was known to be a very kind-hearted mayor, he doesn't have any hatred towards any humanoid species and many demihumans who fled their hometowns are also living in Direwell.

Demiria was becoming more prosperous, security was improved, and the people who were living there originally was able to be introduced to many things they had never seen before.

Soon, humans began to visit the village aswell, adventurers seek to defeat monsters near the village while others seek to mine the rare minerals inside the underground cave, of course by paying a hefty entrance fee.

While the village was growing, so did its people. Inside a certain wooden house, lived a beautiful demihuman, people in the village regarded her as the most beautiful demihuman in here, with her silky smooth and snowy white hairs, her crimson eyes that reflect the bloodmoon glow, and her curvy figure that captivates any man who saw her.

That girl was Syla, and she had just reached her 18th birthday 2 months ago.

Syla stood alone infront of a mirror in her bedroom, she was brushing her hairs and tail, making them incredibly fluffy. When she was done with it, she spun her body around to see her fit, embroidered with white ruffled blouse and black skirt, she looked more like a noble rather than a normal peasant.

"Mhm, I look good!" Syla praised herself, smiling to her mirror self. "The clothing shop that opened a week ago had a lot of beautiful clothes, but dad said i could only buy one, so i chose this.. I have to say i think i made a good choice."

'Aren't i a bit too pretty!? Seriously i might fall in love with myself—' Syla said to herself.

'The last 4 years has been full of nothing but surprises, i can't believe how much this little village has grown.. There are many humans in this village now, though most of them are only staying for a few days– Speaking of growth.. I also grew a lot, and probably too much in certain areas..' Syla looked down at her breasts, it has grown way bigger than before, she almost couldn't see her own feets.

'Ahh, this is a problem for sure– the lady from the clothing shop said my size was 88.. That damn god– I can't tell if i should be thankful or not..'
