Chapter 32 - Departure

Syla approached Raywen, who stood in the middle of everyone, and asked them.

"What are you guys doing here!"

"Of course we're here to see you go! It's time huh.. You're ready for everything?" Raywen said, he tapped Syla's shoulder and acted like a teacher who was proud at his student.

"Yeah." Syla responded with a serious face.

"Good!" Raywen was about to continue when suddenly the other uncles interrupted his speech.

"Syla, you're going to become a wanderer right!? I suggest you register at an adventurer guild! It's easy money for someone as strong as you!"

"Watch out for bad guys out there!"

"Don't forget your uncle, me for example, should be remembered as Tusk the great!"

"I heard the Dictus Mountain have some amazing views! You should check it out!"

"You should create a journal for the things you'e encountered, so that you can share your findings to everyone."

All of the hunting squad members have their own advice for Syla, uncle Jroe, Falko, Tusk, Tared, and Drego then said their goodbyes to Syla and wished her the best before standing back in their previous spot.

The next person that wanted to talk to her was Ferin, she was one of the people that directly watched Syla's growth for the past 18 years, and she was also the first person that saw her when she was born.

Ferin walked closer to Syla and raised her head, showing the height difference between the two of them.

"I never knew you'd grow to be such an amazing girl, not to mention a total beauty too." She said. "Are you sure you want to leave? Because it seems like there's someone that still remembers you."

As Ferin was saying that, she turned her head to her back and called out a name that Syla hasn't heard in years.

"Lud, why are you hiding? You should say goodbye to your friend when she's about to leave." She shouted.

From behind the hunting squad uncles, a man walked infront and revealing his presence, the dark-brown hairs and ashen eyes were still the same as back then, Syla hadn't interacted with Lud for over 3 years now, the last time she greeted him was when they accidentally stumbled upon each other on the street, because of their age, Lud began to see Syla more as a girl, and that made him to feel nervous around her, as time passes by, the two of them began to ignore each other.

Syla thought Lud was just tired of her since he has more male friends that will play with him more than her, and she was completely fine with that, that's why she never bothered to ask. Not only Lud grew distance with Syla because of their age, he also barely had any time to see her because he was also attending the hunting academy, a year after Syla's admission.

"Umm.. Long time no see, Syla." He said, clearly being shy about meeting with Syla after so long.

"Yeah, it's been a long time, i heard you're training swordmanship, that's awesome." Syla responded while trying add a topic.

"Ah, Yes.. Im not that skilled though." Lud replied while scratching the back of his head. "I see you're going to leave the village, where are you going?"

"—To wherever i want, i suppose.." Syla shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

After she said those words, she saw Lud's cheek getting redder as if he was blushing, then after a few seconds of silence, he spoke.

"Umm, i just want to say‐ That you're beautiful, that outfits really suits you."

"Hm?! O- Oh.. Thanks.." Syla was startled by by the sudden compliment, especially from other guys that isn't her father, her face felt hot and she couldn't understand why.

After a few more small talks, Lud then goes back to his mother and stayed behind her, Syla was a little bit confused with his behavior, but decided not to think about it, since he has been like that when they were kids.

When she thought that it was over, Syla noticed another man coming towards her, she recognized his face as the village chief, the person who had been dealing with Demiria's recent prosperous growth, there's no one in this village that doesn't know him, and there is also no one in the village that doesn't respect him. Under his leadership, Demiria was able to sustain and make everyone happy for living there.

Syla was stunned to see the village chief personally coming to greet her, she thought that he'd be busy because of all the construction that was being built in the village, but no, he was here, right infront of her.

"I heard a lot about you, and even though we've met a couple times before, i suppose this is the first time we've ever talked properly, right?" The chief said, his smile was comforting and Syla didn't feel any pressure for him despite his importance.

"Ah, yes.. It's nice to meet you, Chief Ronin." Syla responded politely.

"Just call me Ronin, no need for any formalities.. We're all families in this village right?" Ronin said, his calm demeanor was the same with what Syla had heard about him.

"What made you to come here?" Syla curiously asked.

"Hm? Why? I noticed that one of my people are about to leave for the better, shouldn't i atleast give them a goodbye as a leader?" Ronin answered, his gaze turned to the sky above him. "Well, i do have a reason– You've grown quite strong, stronger than anyone i've met, even though you tried to hide your power, i understand why you did that."

'He knew!? Since when!?' Syla was surprised to hear that Chief Ronin knew her secret, she suspected that one of the uncles or her dad had told him, but ignored it in the end. She was already strong enough, having her secrets be blown out the cover now won't cause as much trouble as back then.

'Im about to leave anyway, what's wrong with him knowing about it..'

When Syla thought that his conversation with Ronin had come to an end, she was hit with another question.

"How long do you want to leave this village? You'll come back right?"

"Yeah, i'll come back.. As for how long i'll be gone.. I couldn't even tell." Syla replied, she already gave the answer to that question entirely to fate itself.

"Is that so, then.. Let me say goodbye to you, i hope your adventure be filled with wonders and surprises." Ronin bowed slightly and walked back to his spot.

Once everyone had bid their goodbyes to Syla, she turned her back to see her parents, they were holding their hands together and waved at her.

"Have a nice trip out there, Syla." Her mother said, a smile formed on her lips as she said her final goodbye.

"Don't forget our promise, Syla." Her dad added, his face was similar to her mother.

"Thank you.. I'll be sure to remember it." After everything that had happened today, Syla looked towards the outside of the gate, the dirt path that has been carved around the trees leads to the town of Direwell, once she stepped outside, that's when her adventure will truly begun.

"Im going now.. See you all in another time!" Syla said, taking a step forward one at a time.

She glanced back for the last time and saw everyone waving at her, and then, she stepped on the dirt path, and continue walking towards the horizon.

After 18 years, a grueling magic lesson, ruthless swordmanship training, and family conflicts. Syla had finally achived her goal, at 24 May, 227 Emperor's Year, 2 months after her 18th birthday, Syla officially became a wanderer. And her next goal of visiting every corners of the world, started at that very moment.
