Chapter 26 - Exercise

Thus, Syla's training with Raywen and the other member of the hunting squad began from that day onwards. Every week she would come to the hunting storage building which is slowly being renovated to add an expansion that will be the room for other kids to learn swordmanship, turning the building into an academy.

Time passed quickly, and before she could know it, a year have passed—

.

.

Using the manpower from many of the families that are interested in entering their children to the academy, the expansion building was completed faster than expected, and the academy officially started 2 months ago, of course Syla was already admitted way before everyone else, albeit in secret.

One sunday morning, Syla woke up in her house like usual, after opening her eyes, she wiped her eyes off and quickly got up from bed before walking out of her bedroom.

"Morning." She said as she passed by her mom in the living room.

She went to the back of her house and approached a bucket filled with water that was placed on the side, washing her face and her tail with the cold water.

"Urgh.. It's cold."

When Syla was about to enter back to her house, she felt something pressing against her chest, it was subtle but Syla still felt uncomfortable about it.

'Huh?– Are you serious..' Syla said in her mind.

'It hasn't even been 3 months since i changed my bra.. And now it's gotten bigger again?!'

Syla was frustrated at her body because it was growing at a rate faster than she expected, her breasts was starting to expand and she had to wear a bra so that it won't become a trouble, in the past her mom nagged her for almost 30 minutes because she refused to wear one.

'Uwaahh.. Im still 14, so this means it'll keep growing right?— That guy– I mean god, really gave this body everything that can be categorized as attractive, though i was the one that initially requested it..' Syla whined quietly.

'Gahh, whatever.. It's not like i can do anything about it, that's that, and this is this– If im being completely honest, living as a girl isn't that bad, atleast not yet.'

Syla shrugged her growth off of her mind and went on with her morning, she entered her home and went on to have breakfast with her parents.

At the table, the three of them ate a stew made out of deer meat, specifically Grass Deer, type of deer that has a body covered with grass-like fur ontop of its body, despite the innocent sounding name and being a prey animal, Grass Deer are known to be aggressive, if they see anything that is smaller than them, they won't hesitate to attack, they also stood tall at 160cm, however as if being aggressive wasn't enough, Grass Deer also shown to be capable of identifying poisonous animals and plants, if they see a poisonous animals such as snakes, they won't attack and instead chose to run.

No one knew how they can identify poison in an animal's body, some said it's by the smell, while some said they are gifted with a vision that allows them to see poison much more clearly than other animals, many believed the former to be the case, but there are still many speculations.

After Syla ate her breakfast and changed her clothes, she set off to the hunting academy building, while the other students are enjoying their holiday, Syla was the only one that is attending the academy.

'Everyone in the village already found out that i was a unique student from only being taught at sunday, but they didn't know my abilities, they still think im just an average girl trying to learn swordmanship.' Syla thought after glancing left and right as she walked to the academy.

Inside the training room at the academy, she was greeted by Raywen, while her dad and the others were relaxing in their homes, Raywen still go to the academy, he was chosen to be Syla's tutor as looking from a skill perspective, Raywen was the most skilled among other hunters, above her dad who came in second.

"Good morning, Syla!" Raywen greeted Syla who had just entered the training room.

"Good morning, uncle Raywen." She said, closing the door behind him so that sounds won't travel too far and too loud to the outside.

"Have you succeeded in doing the exercise i gave you as a homework?" Raywen asked as he grabbed a wooden sword.

"Ah, Yes. I did it just like you said." Syla answered, she then walked to the middle of the room and stood still.

She then slowly lowered her body and stretched her leg wide open, forming a split position followed by her lowering her torso to the floor.

Raywen watched Syla's flexibility and smiled.

"Good job, does it still hurt to do?" He asked.

"Not really, at first it really hurts, but now i can do it just fine." Syla replied while maintaining the pose.

"I guess that's due to your previous training, you can stand now." Raywen said as he approached Syla, be then gave the wooden sword in his hand to her. "Do your best for today aswell."

"Yeah."

Syla held the wooden sword in her hand and walked back a few steps, on the other side of her, Raywen also grabbed a wooden sword for himself, she was about to have a spar with Raywen, the two of them stared at each other with fiery eyes. And when the silence broke, Syla was the one that attacked first.

CLACK!

A loud clacking noise was heard almost instantly, the sound continues to echo throughout the room as Syla and Raywen clashed, they swung their swords at the same time, blocking each other's attack and dodging the ones that can't be blocked. Their speed was equal, Syla had an easier time swinging her swords due to her flexibility, she was able to move in a wave-like motion, similar to how an ocean woud move on the coastline, however, she wasn't the only one with that kind of flexibility.

Raywen countered most of her attacks with his sword, his flexibility are also out of the ordinary, with each of his movement, the sword in his hand feels like it was made out of jelly that kept changing in shape as he move. Upon taking a closer look at the spar and slowing it down, it was clear that Raywen have the upper hand in this battle, his swings were more refined and clean, while Syla were more fast but often shaky.

"Keuk!!" Syla groaned as Raywen attacks became more and more harder to block.

When she was focusing on his sword, her vision abruptly glanced at Raywen's fist, he was clenching, as if trying to punch her, Syla immediately moved her other hand to anticipate the attack, but that's when Raywen's sword escaped from her gaze.

Swoosh!

In a split second, Raywen's sword stopped at Syla's waist, if he hadn't stopped his attack, Syla would've been hit.

"That ended way too quick, you fell for it again." He said.

"Haaahh.. I still have a long way to go." She said as she lay down on the floor, gasping for air. "Uncle Raywen, what do you think of my strength now? How strong am i compared to those outside of the village?"

Raywen stopped for a while, thinking for an appropriate answer, he stroke his chin and then crouched to see Syla closer.

"You're as strong as a C-Rank Adventurer, i guess! Haha." He said with a smile.
