Chapter 620 - 1

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC40: Call me Mommy

Chapter 40: Call me Mommy

"Athenodora," Caius called her name and looked at that face he had not seen in five years unsure how to feel.

He usually liked to be detached about the memories he inherited because he didn't want them influencing his actions and reactions to the events of the world lest he become like Caius in [To Kill A Demon Lord...], feeling bitter and holding on to a lot of resentment mostly at himself.

But this woman—this Vampire—easily became an exception to that detachment and had him feeling a wave of emotions.

The Vampire standing in front of him put the status of 'True-Vampire' he had just acquired to shame. An aura was emanating from her body that had him feeling an inclination to not only bow but also fall to the ground and kiss her feet.

Speaking of her feet, they were bare and they had to be the prettiest pair Caius had ever seen. And he said that as someone who would not consider himself a foot person. That had never been a fetish of his which was what made it feel especially weird how much he wanted to lick her toes. They looked so dainty and perfect. Her toenails were painted a deep black that absorbed all light and reflected none of it.

Moving on...

Caius' eyes moved from her feet onto her calves that continued the visage of perfection and then he was gazing at the end of her short black gown. The gown had partings on either side to let her move her legs freely so he got a good view of her thighs, feeling an urge to step forward and wrap his arms around them.

'Is she bewitching me?' Caius asked himself to no answer.

Caius' eyes fell on the Vampire's waist next and he saw her hands on them as she struck a pose that would have had him salivating if he had just a bit less self-control. But her hips and the ample, round asscheeks they teased were not Caius' main focus of attraction. Rather it was Athenodora's arms themselves.

She had tattoos all over both her arms with similar patterns like the ones he had seen on her back. Caius tried to decipher them but they were a mixture of Artistic diagrams and symbols that had his head aching the more he tried to understand them so he gave up.

And now his eyes were on her chest. Her gown was snug around her body but was loose enough to let her round tits push it out so they could wobble with every step she took.

That was another thing; While Caius took his time observing her, Athenodora stepped toward him.

"Oh sweetie," she said in a sweet voice that was rich in hunger,

"Call me Mommy."

That snapped Caius out of his eyeing tour of her body.

"What?" He asked with his eyes now on her face.

It was interesting how she managed to look about as young as Arlette and Cynthia Kragsten—late twenties to very early thirties—and at the same time looked older than either of them. There was an ageless quality to her face like she had lived for at least a millennium.

She had a regal look about her. Her features were not only delicate but commanding with a natural sense of authority. But this authority was not the kind someone could learn or grow into. It was an Authority you had to be born with. An Authority to always claim superiority over your fellows; In this case, those fellows were Vampires.

Besides the regality of her features, Athenodora was an incredibly beautiful woman. Her smirk was so charming that it'd melt the heart of the most hardened of men. The very feel of her presence was enough to earn her the favors and envy of her fellow women. She was just perfect.

Down to her tattoos.

It didn't matter your preference, when you saw her, your entire psyche would be swarming with thoughts and desires to take your time studying her. Her face, her body, and the intricacies and mysteries of the artistic depictions on her perfect, eternally youthful skin.

"You heard me," Athenodora said, even closer to Caius now as she reached out with her hand and trailed her finger across the front of his shirt,

"Call me Mommy.

After all, it's my blood that runs in your veins."

She wasn't wrong.

When a person is turned, the blood of their creator quickly overwhelms and overshadows the blood of their actual parents within them. Technically, in terms of percentage blood (if that makes any sense), Caius was now more related to Athenodora than he was to his father or his late Mother.

Athenodora's index finger suddenly grew a claw that she used to tear through his shirt and before Caius could lament the damage to his uniform, she raised her finger and touched his chin. The tip of her claw was touching his skin and just one light stroke away from breaking through.

"Oh, look how big you've gotten," Athenodora said in a cooing tone while her tongue stroked lightly across her fangs,

"Seems like only yesterday you were twitching under me."

She leaned in close then suddenly and took a long whiff of Caius' scent that had her quickly shaking with need as she let out a laugh.

"Oh, that smell. So unique. It's hardly changed in five years. I was worried it'd be diluted now that we share blood but, by Nyx, it's still as mouth-watering as ever.

I've missed it."

Caius' heart suddenly beat hard in his chest. The way she was all over him felt so predatory that he wasn't sure how to feel. She looked like she was so close to biting him.

The thought brought memories from five years ago to Caius' mind;

He remembered being a thirteen-year-old boy, curled up in his bed, still mourning his mother's death only to suddenly feel a hand caressing his cheek.

He'd opened his eyes and there she was, lying on his bed and looking so beautiful that it caused his heart to catch in his throat. But her eyes were so scary that they had him frozen in horror that only got worse when she grinned and showed off sharp fangs glinting like steel in the darkness of his room.

"Hey sweetie," she had said, "Your father is being a nuisance. Let's prepare a gift for him, shall we?"

And then, before Caius could even scream, she had had him pinned on his back, with her fangs sunk into his neck. She nearly sucked him dry and when she finally pulled away, she pricked her finger and dripped a few drops of her blood into his mouth. Enough to turn him into a Vampire Spawn and no more.

"We'll see each other again," she had said with an amused smile on her face,

"If HE doesn't kill you, that is."

The 'he' she was referring to was Caius's father who Athenodora had done all this just to put in a difficult position. She felt killing Caius would be too easy, too quick. It would be more satisfying to force the father to end his own son. In theory, at least.

"I knew he wasn't going to kill you," Athenodora said like she had read Caius' mind and knew what he was thinking about. But she was just musing to herself and coincidentally had similar thoughts.

"I always knew that underneath all that bravado and so-called 'Von Helsing honor' is a hypocrite."

Athenodora snorted then before her eyes were back on Caius' face with a doting expression again,

"Oh, but I'm glad he didn't have the stones. Imagine us losing out on this emotional reunion.

Oh, and what is this?"

With that question, Athenodora's other hand reached down and touched a bulge that had formed in Caius' pants.

"Seems you were busy with something before I arrived. Did I interrupt an impending Fuck?" She asked in a mocking baby voice that should not have worked in this scenario.

"How in hell—?" Caius asked, taken completely by surprise by his own erection.

He had had it while he was with Arlette but ever since getting transported here, he thought—No, he was sure he'd lost the erection. Things were just too serious to be sporting a boner. And yet, here he was, hard and only getting harder as Athenodora began to rub him even more.

"Ah, someone's getting excited," Athenodora said with a chuckle and she grabbed the rod through Caius' pants,

"Don't worry. I'll take care of it."

'I didn't ask you to!' was what Caius was just about to say when he realized he was naked.

His clothes had just suddenly vanished and Athenodora was holding his dick without the material of his pants as a barrier.

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC41: You belong to me

Chapter 41: You belong to me

Never had Caius thought he'd be so distracted despite a woman's soft hands around his cock. Even if the Vampire was gripping and jerking it hard enough to cause him pain.

Something about this situation—besides her insistence on referring to herself as his Mother and her painful handjob—didn't feel right. He looked around searching for his clothes but didn't find them. They really were just gone.

Also, this erection shouldn't be happening and it just came out of nowhere.

And then his eyes widened slightly in realization and he relaxed a bit as he smiled.

"None of this is real," he said.

Athenodora leaned back and away from him with a smile,

"Insightful. But 'real' is a matter of objective perception." She said.

Caius noted how those words sounded like what Samantha told him when they met for the first time. Of course, at the time, Samantha was talking about realities and forces on a scale greater than what was happening here but the similarity was uncanny.

'If I had a dime for every time I'm with Arlette and I get snatched up to have my perception on things around me flipped around, I'd have two dimes. Not much but very interesting that it has happened twice.'

Athenodora had no idea about the thoughts running through Caius' mind. She just continued to ask,

"Why? Are you not feeling this?" She asked as her hand began to glide up and down Caius' rod. It moved so fast that it started to blur.

She leaned in close and grabbed his earlobe with her fangs as she breathed into his ear.

"Do you not like it when Mommy touches you?"

Caius shuddered. The words, the tone, the delicious breath. Even the predatory nature of how she neared him and leered at him... It was all so exciting.

He tried to rein himself in so he didn't get lost in that feeling but it was so hard. Before he realized what he was doing, he had raised a hand and placed it on her back.

His hand felt across the smoothness of it and his fingers ran across the dip where her spine was as his fingertips began to tingle. He could feel an underlying power in the tattoos on Athenodora's back. Or maybe that was just his horniness sending thrills throughout his body.

"Haha," Athenodora let out in a short laugh, "So you do like it."

"It's hard not to," Caius admitted.

The memories he inherited reared their heads again, trying to fight the pleasure he was feeling. Trying to make him feel like every bad thing that had ever happened to him was Athenodora's fault.

The memories weren't entirely wrong.

Caius might have already been in pain and mourning before she arrived but her turning him into a Vampire was what really caused his years of depression.

The thing was though, the only reason to feel resentful at Athenodora was if he hated being a Vampire, and while for five years that had been the case, it all changed from the moment Kevin's soul took over this body. HE had no resentment for his creator. In fact, he was glad she turned him. He had seen the fate that lay ahead of Caius rejecting this 'gift' and had no intentions of following the same path.

That said, he wasn't entirely swayed by Athenodora's presence either.

[To Kill A Demon Lord...] had described her as too much of a manipulative bitch for him to not be cautious of her.

Everything she was doing so far, had to have a purpose.

And with that thought in mind, he finally managed to regain his lucidity as he took his hand off her back and grabbed her arm instead.

"Hmm?" Athenodora looked up at him in surprise.

With visible struggle, Caius raised his other hand and grabbed her other arm, staring into her Vampire-red eyes.

"Stop it!" He said through gritted teeth, "Stop toying with me and tell me why you're here. Why I'M here."

Athenodora raised a perfect brow and gave his dick one last jerk, smirking when Caius twitched and winced as he tried his best to not let out a groan of pleasure.

And then she released it and raised her hands in a look of surrender. But that only annoyed Caius more because one second he was holding her arms and the next, she had escaped his grip and was moving freely.

First, it was his erection and now it was this. It was so trippy how she was manipulating him and he wasn't sure he liked it at all.

"Seriously Caius, you're starting to annoy me," Athenodora said and turned away from him treating him to a view of the perfect arch of her ass and the way her short gown swayed around the lower half of her body as she sashayed away from him while letting out a sigh.

"Does a Mother need a reason to visit her son?"

"You're not my mother," Caius pointed out.

"Fine then," Athenodora said and for a brief second she sounded hurt but of course that was all part of this game she was playing. Whatever it was.

Her voice regained a lustrous tone as she turned back to face him with her arms raised and spread,

"Let me rephrase; Does a Creator need a reason to visit her Spawn?"

Caius frowned and when he opened his mouth to say something, Athenodora interrupted.

"The answer is No, sweetie," she said, "I can visit whenever I feel like it. However, I feel like it."

As she was speaking, she suddenly vanished from Caius' sight and reappeared right in front of him a quarter of a second later, leaning her face close again.

"Make no mistake, you are what you are because of me. You belong to me."

Her fingers were on Caius' chest again. First, she tapped her fingertips against his skin and then she leaned close and played a kiss on it before spreading her lips so she could graze her fangs across his sternum.

And then she dug in and stabbed her claws into him, drawing blood from all five puncture wounds as well as a gasp of pain from Caius' lips. The sound only made Athenodora's grin wider in some kind of sadistic desire before she let her tongue out of her mouth lick at the wounds, sucking the blood up into her mouth.

The taste had to have been glorious because she trembled with need that broke through the facade of confident ownership she had been portraying for a while now. And then the look was back as she closed her eyes and reveled in the taste of Caius' blood.

"Oh, absolutely wonderful. You won't believe how glad I am that you didn't lose your flavor. That would have been such a shame.

I can still remember that night when I first tasted it. I must admit, it took me by surprise. I knew right then my task was not going to be easy. Even harder than normal.

Usually, once I start, I can never stop. I've never had restraint. Never bothered with it. If I find you delicious, I drain you. Seems far too restrictive and way too much work to keep my meals alive and suffering just for a few pints of blood every day. Meals are a dime a dozen. They're everywhere. And I've always believed that no matter how tasty a meal is, there will always be another more tasty one to be found."

There was something chilling about how Athenodora referred to her victims as meals. Not even as humans or whatever race they were. Just food to be devoured.

Even worse was that this was probably the one time Caius understood where Athenodora was coming from. Except that he was glad he had restraint. It wasn't just about blood for him, after all.

Athenodora continued,

"It's why I've never had Spawns. If I tried to make one, I'd just kill them.

Also, the fact that I can't stand having the little runts around and having to teach them how to behave and whatnot. I've just never had use for them.

But you were the one exception to my lack of restraint. A miracle considering how much more tasty your blood was compared to my many, many, many other meals.

My hatred for your Father was so strong that it forced me to stop and keep focus on the task I came to do.

It's him we have to thank for this nice little moment we're having."

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC42: If I have to, I will

Chapter 42: If I have to, I will

Caius just frowned, not sure what to say to that.

He remembered how much Athenodora had drained him that night five years ago but he had just assumed she had done that to cause him as much pain as possible and make him feel like he was truly going to die better giving him a sliver of life with her blood. When he read [To Kill A Demon Lord...] as Kevin and it explored Caius' backstory, that was also what he'd thought.

Realizing now that the reality was even worse for him than that was chilling.

To realize his life had hung in the balance and on the whim of this aged Vampire who had never shown restraint for once in the over 1000 years she had been alive, caused his heart to leap up to his throat.

Athenodora saw his expression and it was like she could tell exactly what he was thinking. Her grin was too knowing.

"But we made it.

And it might have taken five years but your father's cowardly and hypocritical decision not to kill you can finally be our gain.

I wish I could be there to tell you all this in person but I think this medium got the message across clearly enough.

How clear was it for you?"

She gave Caius an imploring look like she were waiting for an answer. There was an intensity in her voice and an urge in her blood flowing in Caius' body that made it so he couldn't just keep quiet and had to answer.

"Crystal." He said through gritted teeth.

Athenodora gave him another one of those smiles she had in spades that melted his annoyed heart as she said,

"Fabulous.

We'll talk again soon, Caius Von Helsing.

I hope it'll be in person.

Goodbye... For now."

Her voice sounded so longing like it hurt her to let him go. Her tongue trailed across her lips and one hand touched lightly to her throat, caressing it like she could still feel the warmth of his blood running down and into her stomach.

With her free hand, she pushed Caius lightly on his chest and he felt himself fall into the darkness as it swarmed around him and absorbed him before he got the chance to make an indignant sound.

•••

*GASP!*

Caius came up like someone taking a deep gulp of air after being submerged underwater. And that was exactly how he had felt. Excluding the water, of course.

The shadows had held him for a minute longer than they had to and that minute had been spent reliving every experience he had ever had with Athenodora until that very moment. He kept recollecting even this very recent meeting as well as every change in her ever-smug but agelessly beautiful face until he knew it better than he knew himself.

It took him a second to realize he had been freed and that he was staring at a familiar ceiling above his head.

'Oh right,' he thought, 'I'm in Arlette's office.'

It felt like so long ago that he was here before Athenodora yanked him away into that shadowy scape. Speaking of that scape, Caius could tell with certainty now that it had been inside him. Or at least, it had been a representation of some connection that he and Athenodora shared because of her blood that was running through both their bodies.

"Gods, you're awake," Arlette said in a voice of concern and Caius saw she was sitting in a chair right beside his head on the sofa she had laid him on. She had readjusted her gown.

For a moment, his brain recognized how this was a very similar situation to what happened to him two days ago after he got knocked out in Mage-Knight Training Class. The tone and look of concern Arlette had was different from the expression Cynthia had had back then though.

"How are you feeling?" Arlette asked.

'Same question too,' Caius thought still wrapped up in the feeling of deja-vu.

"I'm fine, I think," he said slowly, "Why, was I dead for a while?"

He actually was curious. Who knew what getting dragged into that Scape had done to his body out here?

"What? No, no. Nothing that serious. You just collapsed and went stiff for a while. I couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with you. No matter how I checked, you seemed fine and that only made things worse. You can't be treated if you can't be diagnosed." Arlette explained. She had calmed down and looked relieved now.

Caius looked around.

"What time is it?" He asked.

"More than a third of the way through the final class of the day. School will soon be over," Arlette told him.

"What happened to Break?" Caius asked with wide eyes.

That actually got Arlette to crack a smile,

"It's been over for a while now. You've been out for hours."

"And you never thought to take me to the Infirmary," Caius said slowly as it dawned on him just how long Arlette had been watching him unsure if he'd ever wake up.

"Well..." Arlette said and gestured at him.

Caius looked down at his body. He was still dressed in his uniform and it didn't have a claw tear on it so things within that Shadowscape had not affected the physical world. But then he looked past his shirt and off to the side to see one of his hands pressed against the sofa. It had claws.

"Oh," Caius said and for the first time, he realized his teeth were still fangs. He had remained transformed even while unconscious and taking him to the infirmary would only have caused problems.

His fangs retracted and so did his claws. His eyes also turned back to their normal violet color as he laughed a little with a hand raised to his forehead.

"We have Theory of Magic. Professor Melvin will be pissed if I showed up now." He said remembering how annoyed the Male Professor had been with him for being much less late to his class on the first day of school.

"Don't worry about that. I sent him a note saying you had an emergency and won't be able to make it," Arlette said.

"Thank you," Caius said truly grateful that she had thought to do that for him but still pessimistic enough to add,

"I know he'll still be pissed though."

Arlette smiled,

"You'll survive, I'm sure," she said and then her expression became serious,

"What happened with you though?"

"I met my Creator again after five years. We had a nice little chat."

Arlette looked a little confused as she said slowly,

"By your creator, you mean..."

"I mean the one who turned me. I'm not talking about God," Caius clarified knowing what the word 'creator' likely had her thinking of.

'Oh, alright. I should have known that," Arlette said with a little laugh before looking serious again,

"And what did your creator want with you?"

"She honestly just wanted to ramble a bit. Nothing important. Nothing for me to worry about right now anyway," Caius said brushing it off.

"Caius," Arlette said in a slightly grave tone, "I know enough about Vampires to know the relationship between them and their Spawns can never be equal and is never in favor of the Spawn. Are you sure it's nothing to worry about?"

"Why?" Caius asked with a smile tugging at the corner of his lips,

"Will you hunt her down for me? To free me?"

He was just making a joke but Arlette's grey eyes suddenly got darker and her posture in her chair became stiff as she stared hard into Caius' eyes to say in a voice steep with conviction.

"If I have to, I will."

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC43: A Change in Venue *

Chapter 43: A Change in Venue *

It was almost insane how quickly they moved past that declaration from Arlette.

The grey-eyed Professor cleared her throat and looked away from Caius like she felt she had divulged more information than she had intended to and that only made things more awkward. And also a little endearing.

Arlette had her reasons for getting close to Caius. He was aware of that but he also knew that despite that, it was insane for her to be so ready to go to arms for him against someone whose strength she didn't even really know.

It could maybe have been brushed off as bravado just to impress but Arlette didn't need to impress Caius. Not in this way anyway. No, that declaration was real.

"Tea?" Arlette suddenly asked and Caius realized that while he had been looking at her face and smiling to himself, she had summoned a stool from her storage ring. On the stool was a tray that held a kettle with two teacups that she filled up.

The sound of the liquid filling each cup was all that was heard in the office and then she lifted one and handed it to Caius who collected it politely.

"Thank you. But not what I'd have opted to drink," he said.

Arlette understood what he meant and it only made her laugh.

"I thought it best to play it safe. Last time you drank my blood, you passed out for hours." She said as she took a sip of tea.

"I think I'll be fine this time," Caius said with a smile as he raised the teacup to his lips and smelled it. It was calming.

When he took a sip, he found he liked the taste but could already tell he was missing something. There was a 'kick' in drinks like these as they had been made with ingredients meant to help Mages along with their Magical abilities. But it had no effect on him which made it taste bland. With a start, he realized food was going to taste even worse to him now.

Arlette looked at him over the rim of her teacup, smiling against the edge at the look on his face. She watched him take more sips and look more disappointed each time.

Eventually, she rolled her eyes,

"Fine. Here," she said, and held her arm out to him. She sounded exasperated but she had an inviting smile on her face.

"The tea was fine," Caius said but was already setting the teacup aside to reach forward and grab Arlette's arm.

She wasn't at all far from where he was seated on her sofa so it didn't take much for him to lean forward and touch his lips to her skin.

"As I start, I should probably let you know it's not just blood I'm after."

"Ah," Arlette said in understanding, and then she smiled as she asked,

"Don't you think that moment has passed?"

Caius shrugged, not denying her point,

"There are always more moments and even if there weren't, we'll just make one."

"Hmm, glib words. But where was this outlook on 'moments' for two days now?" Arlette asked and cocked her head to the side,

"You've certainly not tried to make them."

"I was... waiting for something," Caius admitted with a sigh that caused his warm breath to blow over Arlette's skin causing her to tingle as goosebumps appeared in anticipation she couldn't hold back.

Even then, she managed to ask,

"Waiting for what?"

"For this," Caius said and his eyes turned red as he grew fangs and claws extended from the tip of his fingers. He gripped her arm tightly and pulled her towards himself.

For the first time since he had arrived in this world, and for the first time since he had known her, Caius was able to use his strength to move her weight from the chair and into his lap on the sofa.

He couldn't describe the thrill that he felt at managing this. It might have seemed like a small thing but the fact that he had not been able to do this while he was a Vampire Spawn really put into perspective how weak he'd been.

"You were waiting until you got claws and your eyes were a little bit more red?" She asked and then shook her head,

"And here I was thinking you were just misguidedly hoping for a moment where everything was perfect and fell right in place. You know, like I was.

Both are stupid reasons but yours is so much worse."

Caius laughed.

"Well, I got my reason out of the way. What would we need to do to make this moment even more perfect for you?" He asked.

"A change in venue for one," Arlette said with a smile, "For some reason, my office is starting to feel cramped."

Caius raised a brow,

"Where would we go?"

Arlette smiled and stood up but she grabbed his arm as she did so that Caius stood up with her. Together, they walked toward a section of the wall in her office, and with a wave of her hand, she made a Portal Gate appear.

"Come," she said and walked through the portal, pulling Caius along with her.

Caius was sure they were going to a classroom but they walked out the other side of the portal into a wide lavish room. Looking to the side at doors leading to various locations locked away from sight, Caius could tell this was only a small part of a much larger space.

"We're still at Lochxen," Arlette said when Caius said nothing for a few minutes and just stared around confused.

"I know," Caius said.

—'As they all come from various locations with many not even living in the Capital where the Academy was situated, Lochxen Professors are encouraged to live on school grounds and of course, just as the Academy sought to make living as comfortable as possible for students, the Professors were not left out. They were also afforded privileges that the Students could only dream of having.'—

'Is this one of those privileges?' Caius asked as that passage of [To Kill A Demon Lord...] surfaced in his mind.

Not once had it been included that Professors could just open Portals to cross great distances right from their offices to their living quarters.

"What's wrong?" Arlette asked and Caius' eyes snapped back to her smiling face.

"Nothing," he said.

Why did it matter what privileges the Professors had that he didn't know until now?

Why should that be the topic most on his mind when this sexy grey-eyed woman standing in front of him, just brought him to her home and was standing mere feet from the gigantic bed at the center of the room?

"Nothing at all," he said and crossed the space between them to gather her in his arms and lift her off the ground.

Arlette's thighs went around his waist and her legs locked tight behind him as they smacked their lips together.

"Mnghh!" She moaned sharply with her arms locked around his neck, holding him in place. When his tongue trailed across her lips and sought entry, she allowed it in. Starting up a battle for dominance in her mouth.

Caius had both his hands underneath her gown, grabbing and squeezing her asscheeks as Arlette began to rock herself against him even in that position.

One of her hands was in his hair now, rubbing at his scalp in what was becoming a signature move and she was so enraptured in the moment that she didn't realize they were moving. It only dawned on her when she began to fall and her back hit her comfortable bed.

Her legs unlocked around Caius' waist just so she could place her legs on the bed and gain the leverage to thrust her lower half toward his body even harder in an incessant move that screamed her need.

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC44: In her Home (1) {R-18}

Chapter 44: In her Home (1) {R-18}

Arlette took her one arm away from Caius' neck so she could run her fingers across the buttons of his uniform shirt and then, she began to work her way through the hoops, unhooking each button until the shirt fell to either side of his body.

With a groan that was muffled by the kiss she and Caius were sharing, she ran her hand across his chest and then worked her way to his back to grab at the contours on it. She wracked her fingers across and then dug her nails into Caius's skin. Pulling across hard enough to cause welts to appear.

If Caius was hurt, he didn't show it.

The feeling of Athenodora's claws digging into his chest and drawing blood was still so fresh on his mind that the pain of Arlette's claws did not quite hurt as much. In fact, he liked the little bit of pain to spice things up. Not that it was needed anyway.

He was so hard, he was sure his cock could come bursting out of his pants. Hell, he was sure it would have if the material of the uniform was not made strong enough to withstand spell attacks. His rod, however hard and strong it was, was not overcoming that level of protection. Not yet anyway.

Arlette soon grew impatient.

She felt her hand was restricted by Caius' clothes so she pulled her hand away from his back and out from under his shirt and jacket to start trying her best to pull it off his body.

"Hmm, take it off," she groaned against Caius' lips before it turned into a stronger need that caused her to groan and say in a pleading voice,

"Please."

Caius chuckled and Arlette chuckled with him.

Except Caius was chuckling because he found her funny while Arlette was chuckling because she realized how ridiculous it was to be pleading when she could just rip the clothes off his body.

She didn't really get the chance though as Caius pulled away just then and pulled the jacket off before starting with the shirt. Arlette lifted herself off the bed as well and joined him. Actually, she tried to take over. Only barely did Caius avoid the uniform getting ripped.

"Was that supposed to be revenge for your panties two days ago?" Caius asked with a raised brow.

"Maybe," Arlette said and shrugged with a sheepish expression.

"Sneaky," Caius said and laughed.

"Get over here," Arlette said laughing along with him as she fell back to the bed, pulling at him so that he fell with her and they locked lips again.

Caius' cock swelled in his pants and with more rocking from Arlette's body to press her lower half against him, he soon fell into the rythym and rocked himself against her too which caused Arlette to gasp as the fluid production in her nethers kicked up a notch.

Caius undid the fastening that kept the upper half of her gown in place, pulling it down until it bunched up at her waist allowing her breasts to touch his chest directly.

His lips went to her neck and then down to her chest where he grabbed one of her nipples and sucked while one of his hands wormed its way into the space between their bodies and toward her pussy that seemed to pulse for his attention.

Soon, he felt like he couldn't delay any longer and found his way downward with both of Arlette's hands now on his head almost pushing him downward.

As he moved, Caius grabbed the bunched-up garment of Arlette's gown and pulled it until he had it down to her thighs where, with excited cooperation from her, he pulled it off completely. Leaving her in only her underwear.

But he didn't just immediately dive into the location he just revealed to the room's comfortable feeling air. No, he took his time taking in her entire body. Dotting everywhere his mouth could reach with kisses.

And when his face returned to the in-between of Arlette's thighs and he let out his tongue to take a long lick of the wetness that was now all over her inner thighs, the Professor's hands were back on his head. Not pushing now but instead pulling.

His tongue was ticklish and licking up her smeared juices sent tingling sensations all over her body but Caius was still far from where she needed him to so she pulled to get him closer. To feel his tongue nearing the source of the wetness he so enjoyed.

Caius obliged, moving slowly but with purpose until his hands were grabbing the flimsy looking underwear she had on to pull it off her body and reveal her pussy lips that looked like they were trembling for his touch. So he got right to it.

His tongue lapped around the entrance of her pussy, teasing his eventual entry. His thumb and index finger grabbed the hardened nub that was her clit, and alternated between pinching and stroking it. All of which kept Arlette's lower half trembling as she thrust herself harder and harder toward his face.

And then, Caius got his tongue in, feeling immediately the tightness that constricted around him. But, still, he moved. Extending his tongue far deeper than he had ever thought he could and roaming at her insides, lapping at spots he knew would drive her crazy.

It was only once he had ever really been here, but he felt he knew her quite well already. As was proven by her reactions to every one of his machinations.

"OH FUCK!" She yelled out and arched her back against the bed, "THAT FUCKING TONGUE!"

Her fingers were wrapped in Caius's hair now, using them as handles to drag him even harder into her sopping wet pussy as she continued to yell out in the pleasure and anticipation of an intense climax.

"OH, I'M CUMMING!!!"

The announcement came along with a release of juices that Caius' mouth lapped up without letting any go to waste. Throughout her climax, his fingers continued to touch and his tongue continued to roam. Extending the duration for even longer and leaving Arlette feeling far too sensitive when it was over.

Caius crawled back up her body and connected their lips again. Arlette tasted herself on Caius' lips and that only excited her more.

And then she grabbed Caius' sides and turned them around until it was his back on the bed. In seconds, she had unfastened his pants and pulled them free. And then, with one hand on his chest, she stared deep into his eyes and leaned down to give him a long sensual kiss as her other hand reached down to grab his freed rod.

It was as hard a it could be and pulsed with need so Arlette found her way down to let out her tongue and lick all around it, getting it slick. She was tempted to take it in her mouth and suck it to a climax but her sensitivity had now waned and she found herself needing something more filling than the fingers and tongue she had gotten from Caius so far.

She raised herself and angled the tip of the member to the entrance of her pussy and began to lower herself, taking it inch by inch with her eyes closed and her back arched in pleasure at the way it spread her insides and forced her to accommodate size she'd never taken before.

When the last of the inches were in and her ass slapped against Caius' thighs, Arlette's body trembled and she let out laughs of pride and pleasure as she slowly pulled back up and worked back down in what was ckearly a start of a thrusting rythym.

Chapter 47: It's everything else... *

•••

Neither Caius nor Arlette had any real idea of how long they spent fucking.

When they left the bed with the sheets covered in the moistness of their fluids and entered Arlette's bathroom, Caius did notice the slight darkening of the day. It didn't quite seem like afternoon anymore.

He was aware that school was long over now. His storage ring had been flashing in alert for a while now as his Family's Estate guards were calling him so they could take him home. It became so annoyingly distracting that he'd taken the ring off his finger and tossed it on a large table in Arlette's room where it still flashed.

For a second, he wondered how much longer he had before the guards organized search parties and began to alert the Academy staff that their Young Lord was missing. And then he saw Arlette's hips swaying ahead of him before she waded into the water of her giant bath and all that left his mind as the blood seemed to flow away from his brain and into his cock.

Caius joined her in the water and could already feel its magical properties washing him clean. Even to the insides of his mouth. Every piece of dirt on him was getting disintegrated. He wasn't new to such, of course. It was just worth noting how he and Arlette seemed not to be cleaning off to end their passionate session but rather seemed to be getting ready to start back up again.

Arlette must have felt him watching her because she glanced over at him and when their eyes met, she smiled and dove deeper underwater causing her black hair to float on the bath surface and fan around the top of her head before she rose and brushed it away from her face with her arms in a pose on her head that reminded Caius of swimsuit models in his previous world/life.

By the time she was dropping her arms, causing her breasts to wobble enchantingly, Caius was already there, his arms wrapped around her waist.

Arlette chuckled.

"Are you planning to stay here all night with me?" She asked and Caius could detect some earnestness in that question despite the jest in her tone.

"Maybe," Caius said and was already slipping back inside her.

Arlette raised her legs and wrapped them around him as their lips pressed together in a kiss.

Past the bathroom door and in Arlette's room, Caius' storage ring continued to flash while he continued to lose track of time to indulge in Arlette's body as many times as he could.

Eventually, though, he had to find his sense of responsibility and stop.

"You're leaving?" Arlette asked as Caius snapped on the buckle of his uniform pants and pulled his shirt off the ground.

Caius looked back at and saw she was laid face-down on her bed, moving from side to side and sometimes arching in a way that places her ass in a prominent view like she was tempting Caius back into bed.

He laughed as he slipped his flashing storage ring back onto his finger.

"I'm surprised you're trying to keep me here. If they start to search for me, yours will be the first place they check. I WAS with you last, after all."

"Oh shoot," Arlette said and her eyes went comically wide even though Caius could already tell she had thought of that. It was why her sarcasm wasn't lost on him when she said,

"Oh, the horror. If they found out I was doing it with a Student, I could lose my job."

"You could at least try to look broken up at the thought," Caius said,

"As one of your students, it hurts to hear you sound so uncaring that you could have to leave us."

Arlette waved him off,

"Eh, it's fun sometimes. The actual teaching, I like. Watching you kids get all flustered staring at my knockers before you get your mind blown by Alchemy... Ha, that IS fun.

It's everything else that I despise. All the lesson planning and whatnot.

Worse is, I'm starting to get used to it. That scares me."

A moment of silence passed as Caius heard the note of genuine worry in Arlette's voice. So he asked,

"Why does it scare you?"

"I don't know," Arlette said in a low voice now and she looked a bit somber as she continued,

"I guess I miss my life before this. Before I received this..."

She stopped then and Caius knew why; She had gotten close to saying more than she should.

Fortunately, he knew what she was going to say.

"Before you received this Assignment?" He completed for her.

Arlette's eyes went to his.

"You know, it worries me how quickly I forgot you know way more than you should about 'Ophiuchus'."

Caius smiled lightly as he picked up his jacket from the ground. Then he stepped closer to the bed and grabbed her chin between his thumb and index finger to kiss her lightly on her lips. Arlette pulled up on the bed and one of her hands grabbed the back of Caius' head but not to force him to stay but rather to add a bit more intensity.

When Caius pulled back, he was smiling at her and groaned to show just how much he wanted to stay.

"I have to go."

"I know," Arlette said with a smile, "Don't be late tomorrow. We've been slacking on your Dark Magic education."

Caius raised a brow and said in a sarcastic voice,

"That was ongoing? I thought it was a one-time thing."

Arlette rolled her eyes,

"Just go," she said laughing as she waved her hand and caused a Portal to appear.

"I'll see you tomorrow," Caius said before he fell into the portal and left her room.

-Right outside Lochxen's Gigantic Gates-

"You don't understand. It's been hours since school ended and our Young Lord isn't out yet." Gareth, leader of the squad of Guards in charge of ferrying Caius to and fro Lochxen as well as his safety, said in a loud voice.

The person he was talking to was a mousy-looking man dressed in fairly fine robes. He was the one of Lochxen's groundskeepers and looked incredibly pissed to be standing there.

Lochxen's security was so great that their job hardly ever included standing by the Gates. But Gareth had been yelling in impatience and worry for so long now that the mousy man had to show up.

"Maybe something is keeping him. I don't know. What I know is you need to keep quiet. This is a place of learning. Not a place for this barbarism!"

Gareth's hand went to the handle of the sword and the mousy man flinched,

"Let us into the grounds to search for him!" He demanded.

The mousy man was not strong enough to keep him out but the Academy's security measures would not allow so he still needed permission. Permission that only the groundskeeper could give.

"I'm afraid I cannot allow that," the mousy groundskeeper said in a shaky voice. Despite being safe behind the Academy Gates, he still feared Gareth's sword as well as the intense aura he was starting to feel.

Gareth was about to yell again when one of the Guards said,

"Gareth, look. He's here."

Gareth looked and Caius had indeed arrived. He walked up to the Gate with his uniform Jacket in hand, his shirt untucked and a wide smile on his handsome face.

The Gates sensed his approach and he was allowed to step out of the grounds like he could barely see the mousy groundskeeper. In fact, he barely looked at any of the Guards.

"Young Lord..." Gareth said in a wave of relief that he was alright. And he even smelled good. Like he just spent time soaking in rose-scented water.

"Hmm," Caius answered mostly oblivious as he sat inside the Mana-powered Carriage.

Gareth took his hand off his sword, cleared his throat, gave the groundskeeper a curt nod before he and the rest of the Guards entered the Carriage and started it up to take their Young Lord home.

Caius was aware that he must have caused some worry. But he just couldn't feel too bad when he was feeling so good.

All through the ride home, he was smiling and almost humming to himself.

And then the Carriage pulled into the Von Helsing Estate and Orland the chief Butler was waiting in front of the Main Mansion's gigantic double doors.

"Master Caius," he called with an unreadable expression when Caius stepped out of the carriage.

Caius's smile faltered now because there was only one reason Orland would be waiting to receive him like this. It had only happened once so far and that was after the first day of school.

Sure enough...

"Lord Lucian is awaiting your presence at the Garden."

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC48: Part of being a Parent

Chapter 48: Part of being a Parent

The Garden was massive, like many other things in the Estate. The ground was covered by a soft and uniform carpet of grass that flattened under pressure but sprang back up once the pressure was gone in a show of resilience. Multiple types of flowers were planted and released their scents in a wonderful mixture that would have you immersed and completely convinced that nature was wonderful.

Caius had memories of spending time here five years ago. It used to be his mother's favorite part of the Estate. She tended most of the flowers here herself.

The garden looked about the same as it did all those years ago but, there was one thing Caius quickly noted was different; The rack of practice weapons placed off to the side.

Standing close to the rack was Lucian Von Helsing. He was dressed in a uniform that was only a tad bit less formal than what he usually had on and he had a practice sword in hand, looking it over.

"Master Caius, My Lord," Orland said with a bow.

"Thank you, Orland," Lucian said, "That will be all."

Orland bowed once more and then gave Caius a small encouraging smile.

"Good luck." He said and walked briskly away from the Garden and back to the Estate's mansions.

Caius watched Orland leave and gulped. He felt he knew what this sudden summon was about and decided he should get ahead of it with an apology.

"Father, about being late..." he started.

Lucian laughed a little and turned to him. He looked about the same as ever with crow's feet at the corners of his eyes due to the smile on his face. He still had on his magical glasses. The one change was with his hair which he had tied in a ponytail.

"Were you safe?" He asked when his laugh ended a few seconds later.

"What?" Caius asked surprised by the light tone of the question.

"Were you safe, son?" Lucian asked.

"Yes. Yes, I was," Caius said.

"Then it's fine. Just try to let Gareth and the others know when you'll be a few hours late. They sent multiple messages to Orland to prepare us for the worst news. And also to see if I could get them the required permission to storm the grounds to search for you."

"You weren't worried?" Caius asked, noting the calmness in his father's voice.

"Well, of course I was. Any longer and I would have made the call. But, to be candid with you, I'm always worried. It's part of being a parent. Another part is trusting your child's safety to the institutions you send them to. Lochxen is many things but it's not unsafe.

Also, you've been doing so well. I've received no complaints about your conduct so far despite your... unique situation. I think I can afford you a few hours to spend with your friends without going crazy with worry."

Lucian's eyes narrowed now.

"That IS where you were, right? There's nothing I should know about?"

With the intensity of that gaze, Caius would have gulped if he didn't know that would only allude that he was hiding something. He managed to maintain a poker face as he said with nonchalance.

"Nothing to worry about. I lost track of time. I'll do better."

Lucian's intense eyes didn't let up.

"You know you can tell me anything, right?"

'Not everything,' Caius said in his head.

"I know," was what he actually said and his father's expression went back to normal so he was smiling again.

"Good. Try for less impromptu lateness next time. At least a heads up beforehand if something comes up that keeps you."

"I'll keep that in mind," Caius assured with a nod and then he realized that if his lateness was not why he was called to the Garden, then it had to be something else.

He was about to ask 'what?' in his head when his eyes fell on the practice weapon rack and the practice sword still in his father's hands.

"Oh."

Lucian didn't seem to hear him as he said in a musing tone.

"So Caius, how has Mage-Knight training been?"

'So that's what this is about,' Caius said in his head.

"It's been fine," he answered, "We've only had the one class."

Lucian's eyes were back on him but there was a strange smile on his face.

"I know, Son."

"You know what?" Caius asked, confused.

"I know about that class," Lucian said and Caius' eyes widened in surprise.

"You do?" He asked.

Lucian nodded,

"I do," he said, "You lost to a Kragsten girl."

"The gossip has spread that much?" He asked with the corner of his lips twitching at the ridiculousness that Lucian had caught wind of 'Staff Room' talks.

He didn't know why but he was suddenly imagining his father in the middle of a hunt only to have someone whisper in his ear that his son had lost in a Mage-Knight spar. Even though he knew that was unlikely to be the way his father found out, the ridiculousness of the thought still made him smile.

And then his expression became more controlled as he studied the look on Lucian's face.

For the first time since that spar, he actually felt self-conscious about the result.

"So you're disappointed," he said. It wasn't a question. He was just making an observation based on what he was expecting his father's reaction to be.

"What? Gods no. Would I have preferred you not to lose? Of course. But I understand why you did. Besides, I deserve a lot of the blame. Can't remember anytime I showed you more than the damn basics.

I was waiting."

"Waiting for what?" Caius asked.

Lucian laughed like it was silly in hindsight and then said,

"I was waiting for you to have the first class. Maybe decide it's what you actually want to do and then we can get to the learning."

He shook his head then before he added,

"I should have taught you something and not sent you unprepared."

Caius shrugged,

"Well, it's not your fault. How were you suppose to know I was going to get my ass kicked on the first day," he said in a light tone trying to inject levity into the conversation.

Lucian smiled.

"The girl you lost to. Delia Kragsten. I heard that's her name."

"It is," Caius confirmed.

"I've heard of her. Her family is NOT pleased that she wants to be a Mage-Knight.

A bunch of traditionalist idiots who don't understand that being a Mage-Knight comes with its own set of complexities. I'm glad she's not letting them dim the otherwise bright future she has."

"Right," Caius said but there was little to no enthusiasm in his voice.

He'd be the first to admit Delia had talent but that didn't mean it was what he liked to hear right now when his loss to her was the topic of discussion.

Lucian caught his tone and chuckled but instead of saying something, he looked at Caius through the lens of his magical gold-rimmed glasses before he announced.

"You've gotten stronger. Your muscles are denser."

"They are," Caius admitted.

"Was this before or after the spar?" Lucian asked.

"After," Caius said, "It's a recent development."

"Huh-uh," Lucian said and Caius was sure he was wondering what had caused such quick changes. The two had only seen each other at dinner a few times so far because of how busy Lucian was but the development still took him by surprise enough for him to wonder...

Eventually, he appeared to decide that the only thing that mattered was that Caius was stronger. At least for now.

"Good," he said, "Your body can now just barely handle one-sixteenth of the Von Helsing Training regimen."

Because he was saying it with a big smile, it's easy to assume he was joking. But he wasn't. The Von Helsing regimen was that serious and, despite Caius' better body, he would only be able to handle a portion of it. But that wasn't even what caught Caius's attention.

"We're going to train?" He asked.

"Of course!" Lucian said boisterously,

"I need to whip you into shape. I'm not disappointed that you lost but I'd like to avoid that in the future.

You ARE a Von Helsing, after all."

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC49: It's why I'm here

Chapter 49: It's why I'm here

"Really? Here?" Caius asked with a gesture at the garden. It seemed like such a shame to desecrate the ground with blood and other body fluids caused by exertion.

"I thought grass was better than concrete. Not to worry though, next time we train, we'll head to the Arena instead," Lucian said.

"Great," Caius said through gritted teeth feeling like he just put his foot in his mouth.

Lucian let out a laugh and then went silent for a while before saying,

"I need to ask you one thing first.

Do you want to become a Mage-Knight? It's alright if you want to follow the 'Traditional ways' instead but if you decide to be a Mage-Knight, it will require all of your dedication, all of your focus and it will be tough.

You can't excel at it if your heart's not in it."

Caius took a breath.

"I want to do this." He said with determination.

"Good," Lucian said with a bright smile as he handed Caius the training sword he had been observing before his arrival,

"Here. Tell me how it feels."

"Good," Caius said as he felt the sword's weight.

Lucian stroked his bearded chin as he said in a voice of sagely wisdom,

"There's a lot that goes into making a weapon 'perfect'. Swords especially are meant to be balanced and that can vary from person to person.

It's made even worse because, due to our ever-increasing physical ability with each Magical Advancement, we can outgrow the weight of our weapon and have to get it re-adjusted. We have to seek out increasingly denser materials or just have the weapons carved with special runes to make them wieldable."

Caius gave the sword a few swings.

"I think this is fine though," he said.

Lucian folded his arms with a bit of a frown,

"It's the average weight for a Third Circle Mage-Knight. If swords become your preferred weapon, we'll have to get a better one custom-made for you.

But it'll do for this introduction."

"Alright," Caius said, ready for the next set of instructions.

"Your task is to land a hit on me," Lucian said then.

Caius laughed.

"That's impossible unless you stand still."

"Don't sell yourself so short. I won't be attacking and I'll have one hand behind my back," Lucian said as he took a stance and indeed placed a hand behind his back.

"Exactly," Caius said with a self-deprecating smile, "Standing still."

"Just do it," Lucian said with a little laugh,

"The goal here is not to win or lose."

"Alright," Caius said and raised the practice sword. He was just about to charge forward when Lucian called out in a clear voice.

"Right there already. Your stance is too lax. Try this..."

Lucian showed Caius a stance and he replicated it, already feeling more grounded.

"Good," Lucian praised, "Now, begin."

The stance Caius had adopted put one of his legs forward and also had his foot pointed at Lucian in a way that made him feel like he was practically springing forward when he did decide to move.

"Ha!" Caius let out in delight before he realized he had become so lost in the springiness of his movement and didn't swing his sword until he was within a foot of his father's body.

He made to correct his lapse only to have his wrist easily grabbed.

"You got distracted by your footwork?" Lucian asked, accurately pinpointing the issue.

"Yeah," Caius said a bit sheepishly.

"Happens to the best of us," Lucian assured him, "Try again."

And try he did. Taking steps back to the position he had started in, Caius adopted the stance again, taking a few seconds to make sure he got it right, and then he sprang forward.

He almost yelled 'Weeee' in his head at the feeling but he kept focus and swung his sword in time. Lucian blocked the swing with his forearm while nodding.

"Good. But try it like this instead," he said as he mimicked holding a sword and taking a swing.

"Ohh, that does look better," Caius said.

He stepped back into position, took a few seconds to adopt the stance again, and then sprang forward. He had a perfect image of what he had just been shown and replicated it so well, it got his father's black eyes twinkling with pride behind the blue lens of his glasses. Like he was glad this would actually be a fruitful endeavor.

They spent about fifteen minutes after that on Caius making different swings only for Lucian to stop it easily and tell him how to do it better before telling him to repeat what he was just shown.

The sun was setting and cast the garden in a red-gold glow that added to the atmosphere. For a moment, Caius found it funny how this seemed like a scene from a movie when the hero goes on a montage for about ten minutes before emerging as an expert.

Alas, reality was not that easy.

He was replicating swings well but certainly not with the same intensity and drive and with much less practiced moves. Caius wasn't disheartened, of course. After all, this was quite literally his first time doing this in both lives.

What he was disappointed with himself about was how difficult he was finding it to chain the swings he had been taught together into combos. Whenever he hit an attack, there'd be some break in his structure that Lucian could easily exploit and send him back a few steps to try again.

And then, when the sun was completely gone from the horizon and the moon had begun to rise in the sky, he finally felt himself in tune with the moment.

He settled into the stance the fastest he had so far and didn't have to spend seconds trying to make sure he got it right.

When he sprang forward from his stance, he did so with an alertness that left him sharp enough to time his sword swing just right. It was blocked but the point was never to land the hit. He took advantage of the way the block deflected the blade of the practice sword to transition into the next swing in the combo. Again, he was blocked and again he transitioned to the next swing.

Every swing was executed right when it should have and it all culminated in a jab that aimed the practice sword's blade at his father's throat.

Lucian blocked it with a finger but he was nodding encouragingly while Caius was already grinning at finally succeeding at the combo.

"Well done," Lucian said.

Caius stumbled back and doubled over to grab his knees.

"Thank you," he said trying not to heave too much in a show of his fatigue.

"We still have a long way to go. Fortunately, we'll have all weekend."

"Oh," Caius said, "Great."

His voice sounded a bit deadpan and that was partly because he was tired and also partly because he wasn't sure how he felt about that news. He had enjoyed this little moment enough but was worried about doing this for many, many more hours over the course of two days uninterrupted by school.

Quickly enough though, he shook his head and knocked all those doubting thoughts from his mind. This was quite literally one of the most important things to his overall goal and reason for being in this world.

"I'm starting to feel bad for starting this up right after you got back from school," Lucian said with a slightly unsure smile as he observed his son still doubled over.

"It's all good," Caius said and raised a hand to give a thumbs-up.

Lucian laughed.

"Go get some rest, son. You have school tomorrow," he said, and then retrieved a canister from his Storage Ring which he handed to Caius just as he was getting back upright.

"Here. This should help you recover."

Caius received the canister, already able to smell the fresh beast blood within. It was certainly appetizing. All the energy he had gained from today's bloodsucking was already spent so he was very grateful.

"Thank you," he said.

"For the canister?" Lucian asked in a tone that made it clear he was waving it off as a nothing burger even if he still looked hurt at having to feed his son blood.

"And for the training," Caius amended.

Lucian gave him a crooked smile.

"It's why I'm here."

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC50: Open wide

Chapter 50: Open wide

***

-The Next Morning-

-At Lochxen-

Kaya and Eloise walked through the corridor on their way to the cafeteria. Kaya looked tired and a bit sleepy, and Eloise was pouting.

"Everyone is already going to be there!" She said suddenly and even in her annoyance, her voice came out like music.

"There'll still be food, Eloise," Kaya said and stifled a yawn.

Eloise snorted,

"There better be," she said, "What happened to you anyway? I kept knocking on your door and you didn't come out."

Kaya yawned now. Her eyes were clearing up a bit but she still looked mostly out of it.

"I was poring through the Arcane Codex all night. You know, for Professor Melvin's assignment?" She said in a tired voice.

That took Eloise by surprise.

"The Assignment? The Arcane Codex? Why would you spend your time doing that? Of all the useless topics Professor Melvin could have chosen to start us with..."

"It's not useless," Kaya interjected, "Not to me anyway."

Eloise looked confused now.

"You're Kaya Aiesling. Your family, like every other noble family, has had their interpretations of the Codex since forever. You won't be here otherwise."

Kaya shrugged.

"Yeah, but their interpretation is very limited on Nature Magic."

Eloise opened her mouth now, looking embarrassed.

"Oh, right," she said, "Sorry, I should have remembered that."

Kaya smiled.

"It's fine."

Eloise became even more flustered to be so easily let off the hook so she hurried to add in a bit of a ramble,

"You know it only slipped my mind because you make it so easy, right? You're so good at your Magic that it sometimes doesn't look like you struggle with it at all."

Kaya chuckled then.

"Thanks. But it really is fine."

Nature Magic was an Elven specialty and besides leaving the Acheron Empire to seek them out in the Forests they resided in or hoping she one day lucked out and met an Elf Adventurer, there were very few channels Kaya could learn Nature Magic from.

The element did come easily to her. She had been manipulating nature since she could walk. There were even certain things she could do without ever having to cast an actual spell. Like healing or creating a bed of vines. But it still didn't feel as 'complete' as it should be. She turned to her family's Arcane Codex and discovered quickly it wouldn't be much help. But then, she learned that there was a whole array of raw data she could peruse and decipher on her own.

The Arcane Codex is meant to frustrate the mind and force it to expand, increasing enlightenment and Magical acumen. But by 'reading between the lines' and creating mismatches of symbols such as the ones meant for 'Light' and 'Life', she was finding herself alternatives and already starting on the path of creating Nature spells to bolster her repertoire.

It was insanely difficult. Spending all night on it had only yielded two complete and usable symbols that couldn't even be strung together to make a spell.

But this was just a start. She was learning so much about deciphering the Arcane Codex that she was expecting things to get easier soon.

They were at the Cafeteria doorway now and Eloise let out a slightly hungry groan.

"Gods, is that roast I smell?" She asked and looked like she was salivating.

Kaya was chuckling when she noticed Eloise had stopped short.

"What's it?" She asked but Eloise was already pointing at someplace in the cafeteria.

"He came!" She said and her voice came out in a bit of a squeal that Kaya could already guess who she was talking about.

Her eyes followed Eloise's pointing finger but really, it wasn't needed because there was something just different about that place that attracted eyes. Everyone was looking over already.

Caius was sitting at a Cafeteria table and by his side was the impossibly beautiful Aylin Khione who was leaning so close her breasts looked to be touching his arm and she spoke in an almost sensual whisper. It wasn't clear at first if the reason so much attention was on the two was because of Caius or because of Aylin but Kaya soon decided it was both.

Caius's presence was a unique oddity and the girls would always gawk at him. Add in Aylin who always had the attention of every boy and you have a Cafeteria where people were hardly eating. Or at least touching the food to anywhere other than their mouths.

Caius raised his hand then as he spotted Kaya and Eloise.

"Hey," he called with a wide grin and then gestured them over with a finger.

Aylin followed his eyes and gesture but was already frowning before her eyes fell on Kaya and Eloise. Her annoyance wasn't even about those two. It was about how quickly an intimate moment between her and Caius was getting crowded.

"You can't be serious," she said and was releasing that chilly aura of hers.

"Cut that out. You're welcome to stay," Caius told her shivering a bit at the cold.

He arrived at the Cafeteria about five minutes ago, and looked for Kaya and Eloise before picking an empty table when he realized the two were running late.

He gave Aurelius a wave and gestured at Doran Langston, ignoring Baler Khione as much as the grey-haired boy was trying to ignore him, and began filling his plate with food he was going to try his best to enjoy.

And then, while many were gawking and wondering whether to join his table, Aylin led the charge. Leaving a table filled with her posse of gal pals to sit as close to Caius as she could.

For the few minutes they had sat together, Caius didn't hate her. She had very few dialogues in the original story that showed her as much of a feeling human person as this short conversation had done. And then her expression soured when Caius invited Kaya and Eloise over.

Eloise was grinning and Kaya still looked stunned. But the two made their way over immediately.

Aylin scoffed when they got closer and then gave the two ladies a glowering look aimed especially at Kaya before she stood up and whipped her head around so hard, it swung her hair an inch away from slapping into Kaya's face before she walked away.

Every boy watched her go. Caius just sighed and smiled up at Kaya and Eloise.

"You're late," he said, "Come on, sit."

"What was that about?" Kaya asked as she sat down while she kept watching Aylin until she sat her round ass down at the table with her group of friends, folding her arms and practically freezing that entire area of the cafeteria.

"Some people are just rude," Caius said, waving it off.

Eloise was eyeing Aylin as well and then her eyes narrowed suspiciously as she returned them to Caius' face.

"Is that really all it is?" She asked.

"It's the gist of it, yes," Caius said as he grabbed a piece of food with his long fingers and brought it to his mouth to chew.

"Hmm," he said with slightly widened eyes, and then he picked up another piece and held it out to Kaya who froze.

"What?" She asked, staring like a deer caught in headlights as her pointy ears twitched a bit with anxiety.

Caius' expression remained the same.

"It's good, try it," he said.

Kaya looked all over the Cafeteria feeling self-conscious only to have the feeling proven right when she saw all eyes were on them. She blushed hard but leaned forward, opened her mouth, and let Caius put it in before she started to chew.

"Good, right?" Caius asked like he was completely oblivious to all the attention they were getting.

"Good," Kaya agreed with one hand over her mouth as she tried to get her hyperventilation under control.

"Gods, get a room, you two!" Eloise said rolling her eyes.

Caius chuckled.

"There's no need to feel left out," he said as he picked up another piece of food and held it out to her,

"Open wide."

"Oh?" Eloise said and stopped short before giggling to herself and barely keeping it together as she took the food from Caius' hand.

Caius shook his head a little and then felt someone's eyes on him. He followed the feeling and crossed eyes with Baler Khione.

ASCENDANT PATH OF A LUSTFUL VAMPIREC51: Lea Gilligan

Chapter 51: Lea Gilligan

It's funny how quickly Baler's facade of indifference dropped.

It started with watching his sister rubbing against Caius and being so blatantly obvious about wanting to sit with him.

It got worse when he called Eloise and Kaya over and they practically skipped over. (Baler didn't notice their confusion at how Aylin was looking at them and just saw them walking over the Caius as a show of their joy. He wasn't wrong, of course. He was just blind to additional context).

A smile played at the corner of Caius' lips at the look Baler was giving him and Baler must have interpreted it as a taunt because his grip on his cutlery tightened until he was freezing it. When the metal spoon shattered in his head from extreme cold, it called many to look over. Including Eloise who had just fed off Caius' fingers.

She looked as surprised as anyone else and realized soon that Caius and Baler were locked in a stare. Baler was irate. Caius was amused.

"What's happening?" Eloise asked.

"Nothing," Caius said with a little chuckle and broke the stare exchange as he smiled at Eloise,

"A temper tantrum."

"Oh, okay," Eloise said brightly and began to fill her plate with food.

That was the first thing in this whole exchange that took him by surprise. Eloise didn't seem embarrassed at all. In fact, she brushed off the events as very uninteresting and was quickly absorbed in grabbing as much food as she could.

Caius was not the only one surprised by Eloise's reaction.

"Eloise, you just saw Baler destroy his spoon because of you," Kaya pointed out.

"Because of me?" Eloise said and glanced over at Baler who was not looking over at them anymore but rather at his plate of food looking like he had lost his appetite.

For a moment, it looked like Eloise was working it out and coming to a realization but then she perked up and scoffed,

"No. It's not because of me, silly. You know boys. They're always after each other for one thing or the other." She said with a nonchalant wave before she shoveled food into her mouth.

Now Kaya was genuinely stunned to the point of being just a bit concerned about how oblivious Eloise seemed. She looked over at Caius and he was still smiling as he shook his head to signify that she shouldn't bother.

Kaya took a moment and then let the matter drop, smiling to herself now at how ridiculous it was that Eloise was missing something so obvious that she was sure the entire cafeteria was whispering about it among themselves. And then she saw how Eloise was looking at Caius and she understood; It wasn't that Eloise was unaware but that she was choosing to be unaware because her attention was somewhere else.

"Huh," she said and smiled to herself as she started to eat.

Caius was not exactly on the same train of thought though. He was thinking of something else; He was thinking of how, although Baler Khione's attraction to Eloise remained the same as it was in the original story, Eloise was being unaware of it in a way she hadn't been in [To Kill A Demon Lord...].

In the original story, the attraction between Baler and Eloise became fairly mutual and ultimately led to Eloise's death when the 'Mad Golem King' came knocking for vengeance. Just an all-around sad situation that Caius could not be happier to be potentially having a hand at changing.

As for Baler's annoyance, he really couldn't be bothered. For one thing, it paled by multiple degrees in comparison to his sister's chilly aura that was already covering her area of the Cafeteria with frost.

In fact, Baler seemed to realize this himself and reined it in because the longer it went on, the more embarrassing it was that he was even losing out in his expression of anger. To his younger sister no less. And it was all technically because of the same guy!

"So, Caius," Kaya said after a minute had passed, "Yesterday... What happened?"

"There was an emergency," Caius said immediately.

"Professor Louvene's letter said that," Kaya said with a little roll of her eyes, "But what was the emergency?"

"Extra lessons ran long," Caius said again quickly. He had the answer already prepared. Of course, he knew it was too short to satisfy Kaya's curiosity which was why he included a pointed look that told Kaya it was something he couldn't easily talk about right now.

"Oh," she said and then cleared her throat, "Right."

It's the beauty of having her be the only one in the cafeteria to know his secret. It meant that whenever he gave her a certain look and appeared reluctant to talk about something, her mind would understand that it likely had something to do with the secret she knew. And with that, she decided to let the matter drop. At least until they were alone.

Eloise was the exception to the unique exchange though. She looked between Caius and Kaya with eyes narrowed in suspicion and then she asked the question that was most at the top of her priority.

"What caused the change?"

"What?" Caius asked and blinked in confusion.

Eloise smiled,

"I meant this change," she said and gestured at him sitting at the Cafeteria table,

"You've never joined us for breakfast before. What caused the change?"

'Was there a reason?' Caius asked himself.

After training with his father yesterday he had lain in bed awake for a while before he decided he needed to start diversifying his time better. He was going to be going to Arlette's office at Break to learn Dark Magic which left very little time—besides the times they sat together in class—for him and Kaya to spend together.

He decided, since he didn't actually spend breakfast with his father at home anyway and a canister of blood was all he needed for a meal, he might as well leave home a bit earlier to join his fellow students for the first meal of the day.

"I was curious. And it's been interesting so far so I'll likely make it an everyday thing," he said sparing them the much longer explanation he just ran through in his head.

"Great," Kaya and Eloise said together like they had practiced it.

The rest of Breakfast was spent eating and chatting and laughing together in a way that kept pulling attention to them. Aylin Khione kept glaring over but Caius could feel that it wasn't exactly aimed at him but rather at the girls he was with.

Whenever Caius found that he couldn't ignore that chill that kept creeping over, he'd glance over at Aylin and wave at which point she'd brighten up in a smile that pulled back on that chill of hers and gave their group a full minute of reprieve before she was looking pissed again and swarming them with chill.

"Class?" Kaya asked eventually like the annoyance of the chill was getting too much. She was done eating or at least had no appetite for more.

Caius, who hardly ate because he had very little to no use for it, nodded in agreement,

"Of course."

Eloise looked disappointed like there was still more food she'd like to sample on their laden table but she joined them. Together, the three walked out of the Cafeteria ahead of everyone else and started on a long journey to class. The longest they had had to make all week, to be precise.

They had a double-period of 'Study of Magical Beasts' next and unlike every other lecture that took place in the 'First year' section of the Lochxen Academy, this one was meant to take place past the many buildings and right at the outskirts of the Massive Forest that bordered the Academy.

A minute after the trio of Caius, Kaya, and Eloise stood up, everyone else stood up as well and they all made the journey together. They arrived just one minute before the start of class with many having shaky legs from the stress of the long walk.

Their Professor was already there, smiling as she spread her arms surveying them all and looking so perked up that her boobs jiggled ever so slightly.

"Well, look at all these excited faces ready to learn.

I'm Lea Gilligan.

Welcome to Study of Magical Beasts. We're going to have so much fun together."
