This planet was called Mugul, located in an untouched corner of the Mid Rim. If not for the detailed coordinates in the stolen data, Amir would never have been able to find it.
The yellowish-green earth was covered in continuous mountain ranges. Only small lakes remained, but they were gradually dying in the arid environment.
The Traveler flew in stealth mode and landed quietly at the foot of a mountain.
This peak was taller than the surrounding ones. Its yellowish-green rock face was bare, lacking the sparse vegetation of its surroundings. Amir could see many heavy laser cannons hidden in the rock.
This was the mountain where the experimental base was located. The entire mountain had been modified. It was undoubtedly a solid fortress.
Fortunately, they didn't need to attack it head-on.
Under Parks' guidance, Amir landed the ship in a hidden location.
The group disembarked together.
Parks said, "The children here... very few are left alive. They're scattered in different laboratories. We may have to split up after we get inside."
Amir already knew this. The entire lab had fewer than ten test subjects left. Gideon would take the important ones to his ship. The remaining ones would be thrown back to the base to have their remaining value squeezed, or simply thrown away as waste.
The main purpose of this base was to cultivate new clones for the experiment and to complete the tedious, complex batch-testing process.
The group had learned about the situation here on the way. The mood became oppressive. Even Mando, who had been shrinking in the corner, began to constantly wipe his weapons, a murderous aura rising from him.
"Take this." Amir handed 32 a lightsaber. It was the blue one he and Sien had found. 32's marksmanship was... touching. In contrast, he was very familiar with a lightsaber, so he had requested one from Amir.
Although Amir had the spinning double-bladed lightsaber he'd taken from the Seventh Sister, he didn't give it to 32. A lightsaber was connected to its user's heart. The negative emotions carried in the red lightsaber would affect the user. Amir never wanted to use it. Fortunately, 32 didn't like that saber either. So, it could just hang there forever.
"How many groups are we splitting into?" Obi-Wan asked.
"It's not clear yet. Once we get in and infiltrate their network, we can check today's logs. The content of their research changes every day. We don't know where they'll take the children, or how many," Parks said.
Led by Parks, the group walked into a remote cave at the foot of the mountain. After walking for nearly five minutes, the cave widened, showing signs of artificial excavation.
When Parks arrived, he looked around. "Last time I was here, I found an abandoned sewer exit. It should lead directly inside."
Amir breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing it's abandoned. If it wasn't, I'd definitely have to cut a hole with my lightsaber and crawl in.
This cave was wider than imagined, but it was filled with a strange smell. Amir subconsciously took out his filter, about to put it to his mouth.
Parks saw this and said, "The air here is harmless, just stinky. Don't worry."
Amir put the filter away, but he still felt uneasy. He sensed the surrounding Force becoming cold, and a dense dark Force was flowing nearby. Just as he was about to ask Obi-Wan, Parks said:
"Found it. The abandoned sewer entrance is right here."
Just then, BD-4, with its spotlight on, beeped twice in the distance. Amir turned his head and asked, "Why did you run so far?"
"Bleep-bzz-bzz-bloop!!" BD-4 seemed anxious, beeping nonstop.
Amir walked over, puzzled. "Why does it stink more the closer I get?"
This can't be the real sewer, can it? Amir twitched his nose. He walked up to BD-4. BD-4 actually continued to run forward, but stopped after two steps.
There was a dilapidated tank here, still glowing blue. BD-4 had been attracted by it.
"This looks like a medical tank, but... not quite..."
"It's a cultivation tank. For incubating embryos, accelerating clone growth, storing body tissue... it has many uses," Parks said, having followed him at some point.
"Bleep-bloop-bloop!" BD-4 was still beeping anxiously.
Amir craned his head forward. There was actually a deep pit here, with the faint sound of running water inside.
The moment he stuck his head over, a foul stench hit him, but the scene in front of him stopped Amir's thoughts.
The deep pit was filled with dismembered bodies! Arms, legs, torsos, even heads... rotting in the pit like garbage, along with a scarlet waste fluid. A huge pipe continuously transported the foul-smelling liquid into it. Just then, a deformed, broken corpse fell from the pipe into the pool.
This was a corpse-dissolving pit! All the useless "waste products" from the experiment were dumped here!
Thrown here to rot slowly without any treatment!
An uncontrollable anger surged into Amir's heart. This time, it wasn't the dark side's doing; it was his own genuine rage. Amir had originally just wanted to rescue the children, but at this moment, he felt an overwhelming disgust. He wanted to completely destroy this filthy, despicable place!
Parks put a hand on Amir's shoulder, pulling him back. He was also silent. He had clearly known about this.
"Why didn't you say?" Amir asked, suppressing his anger.
"We don't have the strength to destroy this place yet," Parks's voice was equally cold. He also had endless anger in his heart, but he had hidden it, not wanting to affect his companion's emotions and make them do something rash. "But we will end this at its very root. That's what we're doing!"
"So, calm down, Amir. Save the children first. They've suffered too much already."
Listening to Parks, Amir gradually calmed his emotions. He knew Parks was right. The Resistance was still too weak, and he wasn't strong enough.
But Amir still didn't want to leave it at that.
"Wait for me. I'm going back to the ship," Amir said.
Parks hesitated, looked at Amir's eyes, and knew he couldn't be stopped. He nodded. "No rush. Ahsoka will wait for us. We have time."
Watching Parks return alone, Obi-Wan asked, "Where's Amir?"
"He said he left something on the ship and went to get it," Parks replied.
"I'll go scout ahead. The air here stinks," Obi-Wan said and walked into the pipe. 32 followed him.
Parks and the Mandalorian stood guard at the entrance, waiting.
