We speed through centuries of Hono's memories. After the first great purging of the Tyberias family, several, smaller purgings occur afterward. We watch whole villlages and towns destroyed because they harboured a Tyberias, or one who had their blood. It was irrelevant if or not the villagers were complicit in the crime.
In one memory, in a farming village, Hono and a contingent of Imperial guards storm a raunchy, struggling pubhouse in the middle of the evening's business. With a writ of execution from Augusta Lycaone and the monarch of that land, the guards drag out a harmless, hopeless drunk, and execute him in the square with a blade coated thickly in wolfsbane.
