Seeing Jiang Chen eat candy made Gardevoir a little envious.
"Here," Jiang Chen said, handing a lollipop to her.
A look of pleasant surprise crossed Gardevoir's face. She leaned in, hugging Jiang Chen affectionately, and planted a kiss right on his cheek.

Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue stared at Gardevoir with murderous glares. Neither of them had ever kissed Jiang Chen, yet this Pokémon had beaten them to the punch.
As if sensing their gaze, Gardevoir shot them a provocative look.
"This is too much! She's way too much!"
Xiao Luoxue wasn't the only one fuming; Ling Wanqiu was just as angry.
They wanted to vent their frustration but didn't know how. Could they really admit they were jealous of a Gardevoir? If word of that got out, they'd never live it down.
"Garchomp!"
"Salamence!"
Unable to take their anger out on Gardevoir, they turned their focus entirely to the battle. Ling Wanqiu's eyes seemed to burn with fire.
Xiao Luoxue felt much the same. In a battle against Ling Wanqiu, she absolutely did not want to lose again. She had already lost to her once; if she were defeated again, wouldn't that mean she truly wasn't as good as Ling Wanqiu?
With Jiang Chen watching from the sidelines, losing was out of the question.
"Garchomp, use Dragon Pulse!"
"Take to the air, Salamence! Evade it and use Dragon Dance!"
Amidst a swirling gale, Salamence took flight, narrowly dodging the Dragon Pulse before beginning its Dragon Dance.
"Garchomp, you use Dragon Dance too!"
"Your Garchomp knows Dragon Dance as well?"
Xiao Luoxue was momentarily stunned when she saw Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp perform the move.
"Is a Garchomp not allowed to know Dragon Dance?" Ling Wanqiu asked with a questioning expression.
Xiao Luoxue remained silent. The only Garchomp she had ever seen use Dragon Dance was Jiang Chen's; she hadn't expected Ling Wanqiu's to have mastered it as well.
Jiang Chen must have helped her Garchomp learn it. I'll have to ask him to help mine master it too, she thought.
She had a Garchomp of her own, but it didn't know the move. Dragon Dance increased both Attack and Speed, providing a massive advantage in battle.
"Lock on to Garchomp! Use Dragon Rush!"
"Don't let her intimidate you! Garchomp, use Dragon Rush as well! Let's see who's truly superior!"
Ling Wanqiu wouldn't back down. Since both were using Dragon Rush, it was a matter of who would come out on top.
In the blink of an eye, the two pseudo-legendaries collided.
Fortunately, an energy shield had been established; otherwise, Xiao Luoxue's villa might have been leveled to the ground.
With a pained cry, Garchomp and Salamence were both knocked back. Looking at the injuries on their bodies, it was clear that neither had come away unscathed.

"Block it, Garchomp!"
A hint of tension appeared on Ling Wanqiu's face. In a match between equals, a single mistake could lead to defeat.
Upon receiving the command, Garchomp immediately raised its arms to shield itself. The force of the Hyper Beam sent it flying backward, where it slammed into the energy shield.
If not for the shield, Garchomp would have been blasted who-knows-how-far.
"Now's our chance! Keep up the pressure! Charge in with Dragon Claw!"
Xiao Luoxue's eyes lit up. She had to seize this moment. Even a slight advantage could lead to victory if handled correctly.
Salamence moved with incredible speed, but Garchomp's reflexes were just as sharp. Reacting instantly, Garchomp countered with Dual Chop.
The Dragon Claw struck Garchomp's shoulder, but Garchomp's Dual Chop landed directly on Salamence's head.
Back when it was a Bagon, it had a very hard shell on its head. However, after evolving into Salamence, its head was no longer as sturdy.
After being struck twice in rapid succession, Salamence crashed to the ground, its head spinning in a daze.
"Phew...! Garchomp, quickly, Dragon Claw!"
Ling Wanqiu breathed a sigh of relief. Garchomp's alertness had saved the day; she was glad it had reacted in time.
"Salamence, get up! Quickly!"
The tables had turned so fast it was staggering.
Before it could even stand, Salamence was sent tumbling by Garchomp's Dragon Claw, followed immediately by a Hyper Beam.
"Don't stop! Garchomp, use Dragon Pulse! Strike while the iron is hot and finish this!"
Having fought Jiang Chen many times, Ling Wanqiu had picked up some of his style—once an opportunity arose, she would strike like a thunderbolt to defeat her opponent in one fell swoop.
"Salamence!" Xiao Luoxue's face was filled with worry, but there was little she could do.
Salamence was still reeling from the dizzying blows. It had to regain its senses on its own; if it didn't, Ling Wanqiu would surely seize the opening to finish the fight.
Fortunately, the dazed Salamence managed to clear its head. It glared fiercely at the incoming Dragon Pulse, its eyes sharpening.
It used Protect to negate the hit, then followed up by launching a Giga Impact toward Garchomp.
"Go head-to-head with it! Use Dragon Rush!"
Ling Wanqiu showed no fear. Her Garchomp already held the advantage; in a direct clash, they wouldn't necessarily lose.
"This is quite an exciting battle," Jiang Chen remarked as he watched the intense struggle.
"Gardevoir!"
Gardevoir turned its head with a look of disdain, clearly unimpressed. If it were the one fighting, Garchomp and Salamence combined wouldn't be its match.
"I know you're powerful, but don't let it go to your head. That's not good for you."
Jiang Chen lightly tapped Gardevoir's head.
While Gardevoir could indeed crush them, there was always someone stronger out there. There were plenty of Pokémon more powerful than Gardevoir.
Currently, very few Elite level Pokémon could threaten Gardevoir, but Champion level Pokémon were a different story they were significantly stronger. And that wasn't even considering the Legendary Pokémon above them.
"Gardevoir!"
Gardevoir nodded gently.
If anyone else had told it not to be so arrogant, Gardevoir would have ignored them, but it actually took Jiang Chen's words to heart.
The battle between Garchomp and Salamence raged on. They collided once more, and this time, Garchomp gained a slight upper hand.
After being hit by that earlier counterattack, Salamence's initial lead had completely vanished. If it weren't for its sturdy build, Salamence likely wouldn't have been able to keep going.
"Keep attacking!"
"Counter! You cannot be defeated here!"
Xiao Luoxue didn't allow Salamence to avoid the fight. Avoiding the confrontation would only lead to a faster defeat. At a time like this, showing weakness was the last thing they should do.
