After struggling to hold on for a while, Salamence finally lost, falling in defeat to Garchomp.

As it lay on the ground, Salamence didn't lose consciousness, but it was completely drained of its ability to fight. It looked toward Xiao Luoxue, its eyes filled with apology. It understood its trainer's desire to win, but unfortunately, it had still lost the match.

"I don't blame you, Salamence."

Xiao Luoxue knew that losing to Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp wasn't Salamence's fault. Though she had lost, it didn't mean she had lost her confidence.

"You won this time, but I'll definitely get my payback next time."

She looked at Ling Wanqiu with complete confidence. Even though Salamence had fallen to Garchomp, Garchomp hadn't had an easy time of it either. If Garchomp hadn't suddenly seized an opportunity to counterattack, she wouldn't have lost. In fact, she had held a significant advantage at the start.

"Then I'll be waiting for next time," Ling Wanqiu replied with a smile.

Regardless of the details, she had won this battle. She used to say those same words to Jiang Chen all the time, yet the final result was always the same she had never beaten him once. Still, Ling Wanqiu was aware that the gap between her and Xiao Luoxue wasn't large. If she didn't work hard, Xiao Luoxue might actually surpass her.

"Gardevoir, drop the Energy Shield and treat their injuries while you're at it," Jiang Chen instructed.

Gardevoir dismissed the barrier and waved her small hand. In an instant, the battered Salamence and Garchomp were fully recovered.

Salamence glared unfavorably at Garchomp, and Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp didn't back down an inch; after all, it was the victor of the previous clash. Under the restraint of Xiao Luoxue and Ling Wanqiu, the two didn't start fighting again, but they clearly viewed each other as arch-rivals.

After a morning of training, Jiang Chen didn't continue to push the Pokémon in the afternoon. Instead, under Xiao Luoxue's guidance, they had a good look around the Imperial Capital.

"Huh, isn't that guy Lin Yuefeng?"

As they were passing through the Imperial Capital Square, they happened to spot their acquaintance, Lin Yuefeng.

When Lin Yuefeng saw Jiang Chen's group, a look of panic immediately flashed across his face. His eyes darted away, and he lowered his head, hurrying past them as fast as he could.

"Isn't that guy usually incredibly arrogant? Why is he acting like a mouse seeing a cat now? He seems terrified of you," Ling Wanqiu remarked, finding it strange.

"It's probably because his grandfather is no longer a Champion but an Elite Four member, so he doesn't dare to be arrogant anymore," Xiao Luoxue guessed.

Jiang Chen smiled but said nothing. If he guessed correctly, Lin Taichu must have given his grandson a severe lesson, which was why he was now acting like a mouse that had seen a cat. Lin Taichu had likely warned him never to provoke Jiang Chen again.

However, after the last lesson, Lin Yuefeng wouldn't have dared to provoke Jiang Chen even without a warning. Jiang Chen's guess was mostly accurate; the reason Lin Yuefeng feared him so much was primarily because of his grandfather. Otherwise, even if he were afraid, he wouldn't be this petrified.

His grandfather had beaten him half to death for provoking Jiang Chen earlier. If his parents hadn't pleaded for mercy, he truly might have been killed. Since Lin Taichu had lost his main Pokémon primarily because of his "good" grandson, it wasn't surprising that he had used a heavy hand.

"Just ignore him. Let's keep walking."

Jiang Chen had no intention of paying much attention to Lin Yuefeng. If the guy hadn't known his place, Jiang Chen wouldn't have minded teaching him another lesson, but since he was being so sensible, Jiang Chen couldn't be bothered with him. He wasn't the type to go looking for trouble.

On the other side, the frantic Lin Yuefeng looked back. Only after confirming that Jiang Chen's back was long gone did he finally let out a massive sigh of relief. He had been deathly afraid that Jiang Chen would come looking for trouble; he didn't dare offend the man anymore.

Led by Xiao Luoxue, the group visited several tourist attractions in the Imperial Capital.

"The scenery is beautiful, but there are just too many people."

Many of the sights in the Imperial Capital were indeed lovely, but they were overcrowded. Ling Wanqiu, who preferred peace and quiet, didn't enjoy the crowds.

By evening, they returned.

"Jiang Chen, when do you plan on heading back?" Xiao Luoxue asked.

Previously, she would have wanted Jiang Chen to stay in the Imperial Capital for a few more days, but since she intended to follow him back to Tianhai City now, it didn't matter. In fact, she was actually eager to get back there as soon as possible. Here, Ling Wanqiu stayed with them, but if they went back to Tianhai City, Ling Wanqiu would surely have to go back to her own home.

"Let's head back tomorrow."

The primary goal of this trip to the Imperial Capital was to challenge the Gym, and since that was already finished, it was time to leave. They would depart first thing in the morning.

"Alright, let me pack my things."

Xiao Luoxue went straight to her room to pack and then called her mother.

"Mom, I'm planning to go to Tianhai City."

"Going to Tianhai City? You mean you're going to Jiang Chen's house, right?" Xiao Luoxue's mother, Zhao Jing, teased. Hearing that her daughter wanted to go to Tianhai City, she immediately guessed the real destination. "Go ahead. If nothing's happening, just stay in Tianhai City and don't come back."

"Wow, saying that... am I even your daughter?" Xiao Luoxue huffed with feigned indignation.

"Since you put it that way, I won't allow you to go. Stay home and look after the house instead."

"Bleh, I'm going anyway!" Xiao Luoxue hung up the phone.

The next morning, Jiang Chen didn't expect Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue to be up even earlier than him.

"How are you both up so early?"

"Ask her," Ling Wanqiu said, pointing at Xiao Luoxue. She let out a yawn, her voice filled with resentment.

"I realized I hadn't finished packing some things last night, so I woke Wanqiu up to help me finish a few things."

"You call that 'a few things'? It's more like a billion things. Someone would think you were moving house," Ling Wanqiu grumbled, glancing at the piles of bags and suitcases Xiao Luoxue had hauled out.

"That's exactly it. I plan on moving into Jiang Chen's house," Xiao Luoxue said, nodding at Ling Wanqiu with a provocative look in her eyes.

Ling Wanqiu bit her lip. You're feeling pretty smug, aren't you? Well, I won't let you stay that way for long, she muttered to herself. Seeing a love rival happy always made her feel uncomfortable.

"Once everything's ready, let's head out."

Jiang Chen released Gardevoir. To return to Tianhai City with all of Xiao Luoxue's clothes and belongings, he naturally needed Gardevoir to bring them along.

"Aren't we having breakfast?" Ling Wanqiu asked. She felt like she had spent hours helping Xiao Luoxue and had no energy left.

"We'll eat when we get back. I've already asked Sister Ning Ya to prepare it for us."

After Xiao Luoxue locked up the house, Gardevoir used Teleport to bring them all back to Tianhai City, luggage and all. Even with three people, herself, and a mountain of baggage, teleporting to Tianhai City was as easy as breathing for Gardevoir.

"Young Master, breakfast is ready."

Ning Ya took the Pokémon Egg from Jiang Chen's hands. "This is a Goodra egg. Young Master, don't you dislike Goodra?"

Ning Ya knew that Jiang Chen wasn't particularly interested in Goodra.

"Are you interested in Goodra, Sister Ning Ya?"

If Ning Ya liked it, Jiang Chen wouldn't mind giving the Goodra egg to her. He had always treated her like family, like a real sister.

"I don't like them either," Ning Ya said, shaking her head. The slime on a Goodra's body was off-putting to any sophisticated woman.

Not all pseudo-legendaries were popular. Both Goodra and Hydreigon were somewhat unpopular, though not because of their strength. For Goodra, it was the slime; for Hydreigon, it was primarily because its appearance was far too fierce and sinister. Most trainers felt a sense of fear just looking at it.
