After finishing the Gym challenge today and spending a tiring afternoon shopping with Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue, Jiang Chen didn't train his Pokémon. Instead, he headed straight to a guest room to rest.

"Why did you arrange this room for me?" Ling Wanqiu asked, eyeing Xiao Luoxue.

The room she had been given was the furthest from Jiang Chen's, while Xiao Luoxue's room was right next to his.

"All the guest rooms are the same; there's no difference at all," Xiao Luoxue replied with an innocent shrug.

"Hehe, since our relationship is so good, why don't we just stay in one room tonight? That shouldn't be a problem, right?" Ling Wanqiu said with a beam, her eyes fixed on Xiao Luoxue.

"No problem."

Xiao Luoxue wanted to refuse, but since she couldn't find a valid reason, she could only agree. Regardless, the intent between the two of them was clear: neither was going to let the other "steal a march."

Ling Wanqiu was worried Xiao Luoxue would pull some small tricks, and Xiao Luoxue harbored the same suspicions toward Ling Wanqiu. Staying together ensured that neither would have an opportunity. It was perfect.

That night, they chatted for a long time. As long as Jiang Chen wasn't the topic of conversation, Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue actually got along quite well. Having traveled together for a while, they were considered good friends. However, when it came to Jiang Chen, they were nothing but love rivals.

The next morning, Jiang Chen was woken up by Gardevoir.

"I must have been truly exhausted. Normally, I would have been up by now," Jiang Chen muttered.

He checked the time and saw it was nearly eight o'clock. No wonder Gardevoir had come to wake him. He performed his daily sign-in, but unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side this time. All he got was a Fire Stone, which was completely useless to him.

After Jiang Chen got up, Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue were still asleep.

"I'll go make some breakfast first."

Though Jiang Chen's culinary skills were ordinary, he could manage a basic breakfast. He went to the kitchen, where Gardevoir helped him prepare the meal.

"You made this breakfast?"

Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue yawned as they walked out of their room, looking in surprise at the fried eggs, sausages, and toast on the table.

"Who else would it be? You didn't think I couldn't even make breakfast, did you?"

Most of it was pre-prepared; it only required a bit of processing. Besides, if Jiang Chen actually put effort into learning how to cook, he would master it quickly. As a Psychic, he learned everything much faster than ordinary people.

"So, how is it? Are you satisfied with the breakfast I prepared?" Jiang Chen asked after they finished eating.

"It's just so-so," Xiao Luoxue replied, her tsundere nature shining through.

"I'm very satisfied with what you made, Jiang Chen," Ling Wanqiu replied, her answer diametrically opposed to Xiao Luoxue's.

She then cast a meaningful smile at Xiao Luoxue. She knew her friend's personality was a bit too prideful, and being a tsundere could easily ruin one's chances in life.

"Where are you going?" Xiao Luoxue asked, getting up to follow Jiang Chen as he walked out.

"To train my Pokémon, of course. A Trainer needs to be diligent, you know."

They arrived in the backyard of Xiao Luoxue's house. It was quite large as expected of an Elite Four level Trainer's residence. There was plenty of room for Jiang Chen to release all his Pokémon for training.

"You're right. I've been a bit lazy lately. It's probably because I lacked your supervision. Why don't you stay in the Imperial Capital a bit longer and keep an eye on me?" Xiao Luoxue looked at Jiang Chen expectantly.

"I really won't be staying in the Imperial Capital for long. How about you come with me to Tianhai City instead?"

"Okay!"

Jiang Chen had expected her to hesitate, but Xiao Luoxue agreed immediately.

"You're going to Tianhai City?" Ling Wanqiu asked, having followed behind and heard everything.

"That's right. Are you saying I'm not welcome?" Xiao Luoxue asked, her lips curling into a playful, triumphant smile.

Ling Wanqiu stared back expressionlessly. What she really wanted to say was that it wasn't a matter of being unwelcome, but that she didn't trust her. If Xiao Luoxue went to Tianhai City, she would definitely be staying at Jiang Chen's house.

How could Ling Wanqiu be at peace with that? Especially after Xiao Luoxue had made such bold remarks yesterday.

Who knew if Xiao Luoxue would suddenly make a bold move and officially become Jiang Chen's girlfriend? If that happened, Ling Wanqiu would be out of the game. The problem was, she had no way to stop her and no reason to object.

"Welcome, you're very welcome."

"The expression on your face doesn't exactly say 'welcome,'" Xiao Luoxue whispered.

She then released her Pokémon, letting them train alongside Jiang Chen's. Seeing this, Ling Wanqiu also released hers to join the session.

"I feel like my Pokémon improve faster and are more motivated when they train with yours," Ling Wanqiu remarked to Jiang Chen.

"The rapid progress isn't just because of motivation."

It was because of the Plates he carried. They provided benefits to their Pokémon as well, which was why their strength improved so quickly when training near him.

"Your Garchomp is quite impressive, but my Salamence isn't bad either," Xiao Luoxue noted, glancing at Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp.

Currently, Ling Wanqiu's Garchomp had reached Elite Four Stage 1, and Xiao Luoxue's Salamence was at the same level.

"Why don't we have a battle?" Ling Wanqiu suggested.

During the New Trainer Competition, Ling Wanqiu had defeated Xiao Luoxue, but at that time, she hadn't used her strongest Garchomp, and Xiao Luoxue hadn't used her Salamence either, as the rules hadn't allowed it.

"Sure. I want to see who is stronger now."

While Ling Wanqiu had been superior before, Xiao Luoxue wasn't about to concede defeat so easily.

"This place isn't suitable for a battle between Elite Four level Pokémon," Jiang Chen reminded them. "Don't end up demolishing the house while you're at it."

The destructive power of an Elite Four level Pokémon was nothing to scoff at; they could easily level a building. While the yard was spacious, a single stray move could wipe out the entire villa.

"That is a problem," Xiao Luoxue admitted. She didn't want her home destroyed either; after all, her house wasn't as large as Jiang Chen's. It was difficult for Elite Four level Pokémon to fight at home.

"Tell you what. If you're determined to battle, I'll have Mew come help."

Jiang Chen called Mew over.

"Mew, create a battle arena for them."

Mew tilted its head in confusion, but after Jiang Chen transmitted his thoughts via Aura, it understood perfectly. Mew nodded and channeled its power. A shimmering dome descended, completely enveloping the training field.

"This is?" Ling Wanqiu reached out to touch the barrier.

"Mew created it. Don't be fooled by how thin that energy shield looks. Even a Champion level Pokémon couldn't break it. If you don't believe me, watch." Jiang Chen called out to his Beedrill, which flew over instantly.

"Use Twineedle! Attack the barrier with everything you've got!"

Beedrill swung its lance-like arms, slamming them into the energy dome with full force. However, the barrier didn't budge an inch, and there wasn't even a ripple on its surface. Beedrill's attack seemed to be completely neutralized.

To an outsider, it might have looked like the Beedrill was weak, but Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue knew that this Beedrill possessed Champion level strength.

"Then we'll battle inside here. Sorry for the trouble," Xiao Luoxue said, patting Mew's head before pulling a lollipop from her pocket and handing it over.

Mew's eyes lit up. It had a major sweet tooth and had zero resistance to candy. It snatched the lollipop from Xiao Luoxue's hand immediately.

"All you think about is candy. Watch out or you'll get cavities," Jiang Chen teased.

His words made Mew's expression turn conflicted. It looked at the lollipop with a sudden surge of fear. It wanted to eat it, but it was terrified of getting a toothache. Yet, it couldn't bring itself to throw the treat away.

Its bewildered expression made Jiang Chen burst out laughing.

"Go ahead and eat it. I was just joking."

Mew was a Mythical Pokémon; how could it possibly get a cavity? Jiang Chen had just been teasing, but he hadn't expected the little guy to actually fall for it. Hearing that Jiang Chen was joking, Mew was finally relieved. It quickly peeled the wrapper and stuffed the lollipop into its mouth.
