Once finished, Noah excused himself after offering to drive them to work later. The women stayed behind to finish getting ready.
"You didn't tell me you lived so close," Annabelle muttered, scanning the neighbourhood from the rooftop where she stood with Selina. "My house is just down the alley—about a kilometre away."
"Really?" Selina was surprised.
"Yeah… that means we can go to work together."
"Sounds cool," Selina mumbled, grabbing a small brown box which had packages of her customer's orders. She needed to drop the other at the agreed destination.
But Annabelle collected it from her. "I'll handle this."
Selina's lips parted to persuade her, yet words couldn't leave when the young lady was leaving already.
They descended the stairs and headed toward the small wooden gate that marked the little boundary Selina called home. She pushed it open, let Annabelle step out, then locked it quietly behind them.
