Ty Lee practically vibrated with excitement as she looked around.
From so high up, the world below looked tiny, the clouds were close enough to touch, and the sky itself felt within reach. Everything was wonderfully new to her.
"Can we fly into the clouds and see?"
"Of course."
Kahn laughed and guided Wu straight into the clouds. Ty Lee squealed the entire time. When they burst out the other side, both of them were soaking wet.
"Amazing! So clouds really are made of water—Achoo!"
Her eyes sparkled with wonder, but the sudden chill made her sneeze. Her face flushed pink with embarrassment.
"Don't catch a cold."
Kahn couldn't see her expression from where he was sitting, but hearing the sneeze, he casually used Firebending.
Ty Lee felt a gentle wave of warmth, steam rising as her clothes dried instantly.
"You dried me with Firebending?" Ty Lee asked, stunned.
"That's right. Why?"
"No reason… I just think you're really amazing."
Ty Lee had seen many Firebenders in her life, but none—none, not even Azula—had control like Kahn's.
Thinking of how not even Azula could match him, her gaze filled with admiration.
Terrifying as an enemy, perhaps, but as a companion… unbelievably reassuring.
And he was handsome. And could command spirits. And never boring.
The longer she thought about it, the more perfect he seemed.
Her eyes lingered on his back, her gaze softening.
Wu flew fast. Only a few hours later, they reached the Ancient Sun Warrior Ruins. After landing, they continued on foot.
Ty Lee glanced around curiously. "This is the Ancient Sun Warrior Ruins? It looks nicer than I expected!"
She had imagined something barren and broken. After all, "ruins" usually meant piles of rubble.
"It's probably because everything is made of stone," Kahn said, observing the architecture.
"As long as they weren't destroyed by disasters or people, they're easy to preserve."
The style looked nothing like the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, or anywhere else.
If anything, it resembled the Mayan structures recorded in his previous world.
Fire Nation temples clearly borrowed their designs from here.
Directly ahead sat the most complete and imposing temple among the ruins. Naturally, that was his first destination.
Most of the buildings were surprisingly intact.
Weathered stone blended perfectly with the surrounding landscape, creating a solemn, ancient atmosphere.
Walking through the ruins, the two of them looked almost like tourists.
Like they were on a date.
Thinking that, Ty Lee's mood brightened even more. Her steps turned almost bouncy.
She quickly walked ahead of Kahn, spun around, and walked backward with a grin.
"Kahn, don't you think this place would be super popular if it was turned into a tourist spot?"
Kahn laughed. "You'd have to ask the Ancient Sun Warriors if they're okay with that."
"You mean the Ancient Sun Warriors? But... haven't they disappeared? Are you talking about—ghosts?!"
Ty Lee stiffened dramatically, looking left and right like ghosts might jump out at any moment.
Kahn snorted. "Aren't ghosts just dead people's souls? You've already seen spirits. Why are you scared of ghosts?"
He had never been afraid of ghosts. Now that he could Spirit Bend, ghosts—if they even existed here—were simply too low-level to worry about.
He could literally astral project. Worst case? He could fight a ghost head-on. He doubted he'd lose.
"…That's true."
Ty Lee suddenly remembered Wu's presence and relaxed. No ghost could win against a spirit, right?
But at that moment, she felt something like a force kicking her ankle. She yelped and pitched backward.
Kahn reacted instantly. He stepped forward and grabbed her hand, pulling her back.
A split second later, the ground in front of them collapsed, revealing a pit full of sharp spikes.
If Kahn hadn't grabbed her, she would've been skewered.
"There are traps?!" Ty Lee gasped, pale with lingering fear.
Kahn kept his voice calm, but he was clearly more alert now. "Looks like this tourist project isn't happening. No one's paying to die here."
"I'm never coming back here again!" Ty Lee said angrily.
"Then be careful from now on. Also…" Kahn sighed, "how long do you plan on clinging to me?"
Ty Lee blinked—then realized she was wrapped around him like a koala.
"Oh!"
She quickly let go, cheeks burning red.
Kahn didn't even notice her embarrassment. He simply patted her head out of habit and kept walking.
Ty Lee froze for a second. Kahn's head-pat felt like approval, and her eyes sparkled instantly.
"Hey, stop daydreaming," Kahn called back.
"Coming! I'm coming!"
They continued deeper into the ruins, reaching the largest temple at the center.
The staircase leading upward was lined with murals, dragon head carvings, and massive fire dragon statues.
Everything emanated an ancient, dignified mystery.
At the top, the temple gate was closed—but Kahn immediately noticed something peculiar.
A massive ruby sat above the entrance, a mirror was placed in the opposite tower, and sunlight reflected off the mirror onto the ground.
Before he could say anything, Ty Lee pointed excitedly.
"I've seen this mechanism before! It's just like the main hall in the Fire Nation's Avatar Temple!"
