Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Her eyes slowly fluttered open, hit by a strange, familiar sensation.

This room… she had been here before.

Groggily, she pushed herself up from the bed, only to be hit by a sudden headache. A soft groan escaped her lips as she pressed her fingers to her temples.

Her gaze fell on a floor-length mirror at the corner of the room. She walked over and froze.

She was wearing a white shirt.

It wasn't hers.

The fabric hung loosely over her body, stopping just above her flawless thighs. It carried a subtle, unmistakably masculine scent. She didn't need anyone to tell her where she was.

Feng Zhi's house.

And she was wearing his clothes.

Her panic rose as she searched the room for her own outfit, desperate to change before he saw her like this.

Just then, the door opened.

Ling Mei spun around, ready to confront him…

But froze.

It wasn't the main door. It was the bathroom door.

And there he stood: Feng Zhi, a black towel wrapped low around his slender waist, droplets of water still clinging to his skin.

He fixed her with a steady stare and smirked at her expression.

He walked toward her with slow, deliberate steps.

"Like what you see?" he asked, his deep voice calm and teasing.

Ling Mei snapped back to reality and gave him a death glare.

"You have no manners, President Feng," she scowled.

He chuckled softly.

Stepping closer, he forced her back until the edge of the bed pressed against her legs.

"Pre…si…dent Feng," she stammered, pressing her hands to his bare shoulders in a feeble attempt to stop him.

"You always find a way to get yourself into trouble," he murmured, ignoring her resistance.

Her heart thudded violently, her palms sweating. She couldn't meet his gaze.

Why was she feeling this way?

This wasn't normal. She had to stay away from him.

Feng Zhi noticed everything — the trembling fingers, the flushed cheeks, the way her eyes darted down. His smirk deepened. Seeing her flustered and furious simultaneously amused him endlessly. She was his cute, fiery woman.

She tried to push past him, but he was far too strong. Her feeble attempts felt like feathers brushing against his chest.

"Refusing to be my wife, yet staying in the same room with me?" he teased lazily, enjoying her reaction.

Ling Mei felt a sudden urge to smack his head.

"I can't be your wife! You haven't even courted me properly!" she snapped.

Feng Zhi chuckled darkly.

"So… you want me to court you?" he asked, his deep baritone sending a shiver down her spine.

Gosh. She needed to leave immediately. This man was shameless and thick-skinned.

"I would like to leave now, President Feng," she said, trying to steer the conversation.

Feng Zhi glanced at the wall clock.

"It's past ten," he drawled. "I can't allow my wife-to-be wandering around at this hour."

Her cheeks burned. What had gotten into him today?

Before she could think of an escape, a firm knock sounded at the door.

Her heart skipped a beat. Relief and panic tangled inside her.

Feng Zhi finally stepped back.

"Come in," he said lazily.

The door opened, and Madam Gong stepped in. Her eyes widened at the scene: Ling Mei in an oversized shirt barely covering her thighs, and Feng Zhi in only a towel.

She quickly lowered her gaze.

"I—I apologize for interrupting, Young Master… Old Master has returned," she reported.

"Mm. You may leave," Feng Zhi said calmly.

Madam Gong hurried out, but Ling Mei noticed the faintest smirk tugging at her lips.

Her face burned crimson. She spun to glare at him.

"It's all your fault! She must have gotten the wrong idea!"

Feng Zhi raised a brow, amused.

"Wrong idea?" he repeated. "You are my wife-to-be. She already knows."

Her heart skipped again.

"You expect me to meet Old Master Feng wearing your shirt?" she exclaimed. "And why did you even change my clothes?"

Feng Zhi's eyes gleamed with amusement.

"You had fainted, and Yan Yi took you to the hospital. I brought you here afterward. Your clothes were uncomfortable — I only changed you for your own comfort."

Her face heated further. "…Oh." Relief and embarrassment crashed over her at once.

Feng Zhi leaned closer, lowering his voice.

"Though… were you hoping it was me who changed your clothes?"

"President Feng!" she gasped, mortified.

He laughed, deep and rich, filling the room.
