"Regent? I thought my title would be Royal Advisor."
Jiang You experienced being suddenly summoned into a Duel for the first time. It was... quite strange. And isn't this effect a bit too powerful? It's like an ultimate Xyz version of Gudako.
The only problem was the absurdity of being summoned by NPCs while he was just trying to play the game. Jiang You didn't want to be yanked away mid-storyline every time someone decided to summon him.
He quickly found an option tucked away in a corner: [Accept Summon Directly?] (Disabling will generate a pop-up. Declining will create a non-sentient projection.)
Looks like the game designers had a shred of humanity, Jiang You thought, but only a shred. The feature guide is practically nonexistent.
"You have no self-awareness about what you did back then, do you?" Fairy Tristan accused. "Your so-called 'nation-building' was just you having fun!"
Fairy Tristan felt completely sidelined. "But surely you realize what it means for you to appear in my Deck, right? I've never seen anyone else summon you! From now on, you're not getting away!"
She declared, "I activate the effect of [Regent]! By detaching one Xyz Material, I can Special Summon an Xyz Monster from my Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions! The monster I summon is—[Queen Mother of the Faerie Realm (Pseudo)]?!"
"I don't even know where to start roasting this," Jiang You muttered. "That name is just too sloppy."
He couldn't figure out this game's system at all. Does this thing process everything in real-time? There can't possibly be someone in the background monitoring players and creating cards on the fly to match the story's progression, right?
As for who this card represented, Jiang You knew without a doubt it was Tiamat. As the Mother of All Things, being called "Queen Mother" wasn't entirely out of place.
Serving as a stepping stone, Jiang You was destined to have a short stay on the field. That was a good thing, though—he had no desire to charge forward and flail around like an idiot.
After the Xyz light faded, a white-haired girl with a (???) appearance materialized on the battlefield.
[Queen Mother of the Faerie Realm (Pseudo)] Rank 12 / Beast / ATK 5000
Summoning Materials: 4 or more "Faerie Realm" or Beast-Type Servants.
Effects:
1. This card is unaffected by other card effects.
2. Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card; banish all other Servants on the field, then gain 1000 LP for each Servant banished by this effect.
3. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Faerie Realm" Servant from your Graveyard. Servants summoned by this effect cannot be destroyed by card effects until the end of the turn.
4. If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from it instead.
"This Spirit Origin... it feels rather peculiar."
Tiamat tilted her head, chin in hand, as she examined her own effects. "But if little Baobhan Sith needs me, then it's no problem."
Morgan's eyelid twitched. Someone actually wants to steal my useless daughter? But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. She simply crushed the armrest of her throne, having already guessed the girl's identity. Confronting such a being required thorough preparation. Besides, the other party was only present as a card here, so there was no need for excessive concern.
Although its effects were somewhat weakened as an alternate version for the Fairy Tristan Deck, it gained battle destruction immunity as a bonus, making it practical enough. Additionally, since Tiamat also possessed complete immunity, Jiang You's Special Summon bonus couldn't take effect. Still, with 5000 Attack Power, she was more than capable of dominating the field.
"It's her?"
Melusine gasped. In her memory, Tiamat was supposed to be Jiang You's mother. Combining that with Fairy Tristan's identity and the card's description, she felt like she was on the verge of a revelation. Fairy Tristan's ability was powerful, but its manifestation was utterly bizarre. A Savior's power shouldn't work this way; it should be simpler, more direct—something even a boar could understand. Therefore, this ability must belong to the human-looking man.
Just as Melusine, having pieced together the truth, was about to speak, Jiang You noticed her expression and silenced her with a sharp gesture.
"The Queen Mother?"
Aurora scrutinized the petite girl before turning to Morgan, her face dripping with mockery.
"Look at you. The 'daughter' who returned to become queen won't even acknowledge you, choosing another Fairy as her mother instead. You truly are a failure..."
Tiamat was extremely sensitive to malice. The moment she saw Melusine, she knew this was the "very naughty child" Jiang You had told her about. In her words, naughty children needed to be taught a proper lesson.
"If you're talking about Morgan, she is also my child. So, you are not allowed to say such things."
"?"
Isn't this family tree getting a bit tangled? It's impossible to sort out.
Giant question marks appeared above every Fairy's head. Even they couldn't quite grasp the logic of Servants. It was like trying to understand just how many people the early Gudako was a reincarnation of.
"Anyway... my own effect!"
Before the conversation could stray further, Fairy Tristan pulled everyone's attention back to the Duel.
"Once per turn, I can discard one card to destroy all other Servants on the field except this one. In exchange, I cannot attack this turn!"
Aurora's Backrow was completely depleted, so Fairy Tristan no longer needed to hold back. Great Cernunnos unleashed a beam of light, spinning rapidly to sweep across the entire Duel Space. Even Melusine couldn't withstand an attack of this magnitude. Both she and her dragon form were sent to the Graveyard. Tiamat, however, remained unaffected thanks to her complete immunity.
"Enter the Battle Phase! Queen Mother's direct attack! Aurora, you've already lost!" Fairy Tristan declared her victory.
Tiamat opened her maw, and a world-class aria accompanied by a torrent of magical power surged toward Aurora.
"I... I still have a chance! Since you're launching a direct attack and I have no cards on my field, I can activate this! I activate the Trap Card 'Scapegoat'! This card allows me to Special Summon a servant from my Deck to the field, and that servant cannot be destroyed by battle this turn. As a drawback, the summoned servant's effects cannot be activated this turn. I summon Fairy Knight Lancelot!"
Fairy Knight Lancelot's Attack Power: 2800.
Melusine blocked the attack for Aurora.
Aurora's Life Points: 4000 → 1800.
