Chapter 427 - 427: The 100,000-Ton Trap

Everyone realized the topic had drifted and brought the discussion back to dealing with the ghouls.

General commander patted his forehead. "It's a pity Jason can't shuttle troops back and forth. If you could, we'd just send an artillery regiment to solve the problem. One barrage of incendiary bombs, and it wouldn't matter how many ghouls there are. They'd just be a giant bonfire."

Hearing this, Jason's eyes lit up. "General commander, can you give me some incendiary bombs? I want to take them over directly. It would be much better than the simple flamethrower I have to carry on my back!"

General commander frowned slightly. "Jason, it's not that I don't want to give you incendiary bombs. But are you sure your people over there can actually operate modern artillery?"

Jason deflated when General Commander said this.

The medieval soldiers under his command had struggled for half a year just to learn flintlock guns. He couldn't expect them to handle artillery, which required much more skill.

Jason didn't know exactly what artillerymen needed to master, but he knew his illiterate troops couldn't be counted on to use the cannons.

If they messed it up, they might just end up shelling their own people. That would be a disaster.

Professor Liam felt Jason's flamethrower was too unreliable. "Don't forget, besides the ghouls, you have those White Walkers covered in ice. Fire won't burn them."

"He's right," Professor Liam added, frowning. "If you can't kill the White Walkers, they'll just make more ghouls from the dead. Once the battle starts, there will be corpses everywhere, which is a huge disadvantage for the human side."

"General Commander, see if you can get the army to design an easy-to-operate cannon," Professor suggested, trying to describe it. "Something fool-proof. A cannon that even people who don't understand ballistics can operate. Well, even if the accuracy is terrible, it's better than having Jason make soldiers carry flamethrowers right up to the ghouls!"

Jason looked at General Xu with hopeful eyes. "As long as it fires incendiary bombs, I don't believe those ghouls can withstand it! Even the White Walkers probably couldn't resist the impact of an exploding shell."

"Well... it's not impossible to make something like that..." General commander touched his chin, thinking. He pulled out his phone. "Okay, wait a minute. I'll make a call and ask."

As General commander walked to the corner of the conference room to make his call, the other experts in the advisory group continued to discuss the ghoul elimination plan.

Using the topographical map data Jason had captured with a drone, the experts focused on the terrain north of The Wall, near Castle Black. They began arranging countermeasures to eliminate as much of the ghoul army as possible.

"Even with incendiary cannons, we're talking about an army of hundreds of thousands of corpses," Professor said thoughtfully, pressing his finger on the map. "Continuous shelling might not get all of them. It might even scare them off, causing them to cross The Wall somewhere else."

Professor stretched out his hand and drew a circle on the large open space north of The Wall. "Since shells alone can't eliminate hundreds of thousands of ghouls, then we need to expand the explosion."

He drew another, bigger circle on the map, enclosing a large forest north of Castle Black. He was planning a massive trap.

"According to the books, the ghouls are drawn to the living. We just need to attract all of them into this huge trap circle!" Professor said enthusiastically.

"That's right!" Professor Liam added excitedly, seeing the layout. "We can pre-bury bombs with a strong incendiary effect inside this huge trap circle. Then, we lure the hundreds of thousands of ghouls in. We use the drone in the sky to monitor, and when all the monsters are inside the circle, we hit the detonator! We can definitely destroy them—blow them up and burn them all to death."

"Yes, as long as there are enough incendiary bombs buried in the trap, clearing out hundreds of thousands of ghouls at once isn't a problem!" The other experts nodded in agreement. This was clearly the safest method.

Faced with the power of modern incendiary bombs, it didn't matter what magic the enemy had. They would be turned to ash.

Professor's idea opened the floodgates for the others.

"Even so, we won't eliminate all of them at once. There will be some fish that slip through the net. Jason will need to have his soldiers ready to clean the battlefield afterward to finish the ghouls off completely."

"We have to consider that the ghoul army is commanded by the Night King, and he's an intelligent magical creature. To make this work, we have to lure all the ghouls. We must create the illusion of a decisive, final battle to deceive him!"

"Well, if we're faking a decisive battle, the humans can't just hide behind The Wall."

"We could... we could quickly build a tall city out of reinforced concrete outside The Wall. Considering the time and the construction limits in Westeros, we could probably make the city walls about 10 meters high."

"We can station cavalry troops inside this new city. They can wait for the trap to explode and then immediately charge out to clean up any remaining ghouls."

"In that case, we might not even need many of those special incendiary cannons, as long as we bury more than enough bombs in the trap circle."

The discussion among the experts grew more heated, and Jason couldn't get a word in. He just listened, filled with admiration for the secret plan they were formulating.

He knew that if he were alone, he never would have come up with this "trap circle" plan. Even if he had, he couldn't possibly get his hands on such a huge amount of incendiary bombs to set it up.

But now, with the support of an entire country behind him, 100,000 tons of incendiary bombs were nothing in the face of modern industrial productivity.

That's right—according to the expert group's calculations, they would need at least 100,000 tons of incendiary bombs to cover the trap circle, which spanned nearly 10 square kilometers.

To enhance the burning effect, the experts even frantically suggested placing barrels of gasoline near each bomb site.

When the detonator was pressed, the incendiary bombs would explode, igniting the buried gasoline, which would then cause an even wider, more intense firestorm to burn the ghouls.

Hearing this plan, Jason could already imagine how explosive the scene would be. He couldn't help but wipe the cold sweat from his forehead. This advisory group was truly a terrifying think tank.

It was an absolutely foolproof plan.
