Chapter 426 - 426: Guns, Ghouls, and Secrecy

"What's left now is our best-performing stock," General Xu said, his face flushed with excitement. He pointed to the various guns and artillery listed in the information booklet.

"I guarantee, you take these, equip your army, and you can completely sweep the entire world of A Song of Ice and Fire. I'm not gonna overcharge you. I'll give them to you for 100 yuan each. Just take them! It's definitely the best price. You can ask around, you can't buy guns this good for that kind of money."

Jason was left completely dazed by the military representatives.

As an ordinary college graduate, he didn't pay much attention to military weapons. He didn't know or understand the market for guns and ammunition at all.

But Jason knew one thing for sure: these decades-old "antique" guns were definitely more than enough for the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. They were definitely much stronger than the flintlock guns he'd had made at IronForge Props.

"N-no... no problem, General commander. I'll take all of them. All the millions of automatic rifles."

Jason dazedly signed the purchase contract. And just like that, 100 million yuan of the 100 billion he'd just received was gone.

General commander, who could finally use this money to order new weapons from the military factory, was thrilled. He promised to ship all the guns immediately, without delay.

After buying the guns, Jason needed bullets. An automatic rifle eats a lot of ammo. He put in an initial order for 100 million rounds.

That was another tens of millions spent.

He signed a bunch of contracts without really reading them. Professionals had drafted them, after all.

The State Council, the company's other major shareholder, had sent a strong team to take over the company's operations. There was basically no need for Jason to worry about the details.

He just brought his girlfriends, Lin Xiaohan and Jiang Chuchu, into the financial department.

His other original employees, like Oliver and Regina, were put through confidentiality training by the security department. After they signed strict non-disclosure agreements, they were allowed to continue working at the company.

This made Jason sigh with relief.

He and Oliver had worked together for more than two years; they were friends. If his whole team was just kicked out, Jason would have felt terrible.

This was also a concern for the advisory group.

They worried that if they drove away all of Jason's original employees, it would look like they were just stealing his company. To reassure Jason and keep him happy, the advisory team retained his entire original staff. It made the confidentiality aspect more difficult, but appeasing Jason was the priority.

Millions of Type 56 automatic rifles seemed like too many right now.

But considering the future expansion of his army and normal wear and tear, it really wasn't.

Whatever, Jason thought. It's not like I'm short on cash. He'd just take it as helping the military clear its inventory and building a good relationship.

Today, Jason was loaded. He really didn't care about the weapon money. Compared to the huge amounts of money needed to build up Westeros, 100 million yuan was nothing.

In the conference room of the underground base, the drone footage Jason brought back from Westeros played on the projection screen. It showed the ghouls.

"Right now, this is the biggest threat we face at the Wall," Jason explained. "I asked IronForge Props to make a batch of flamethrowers before. The idea was to use gasoline to deal with these... flammable ghouls. But to be honest, I'm not sure how effective it will be. I'm a bit lost."

He finished recounting what he knew and returned to his seat.

"Judging from the description in the book and Mr. Liu's videos, these zombie-like monsters called 'ghouls' are very afraid of fire," Professor Liam said, stopping his pen. "So, attacking with fire is a good method."

Professor Liam exhaled a long breath and rubbed his sore eyes. "I just can't believe a seriously decomposed corpse can still move. Other than zombies in the movies... this... this involves magic. It's a huge shock to our scientific worldview."

"I agree. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes... all the video materials Mr. Liu brought back... I'd never believe that other worlds, or parallel spaces, actually existed," Professor Liam said, spreading his hands with a bitter smile.

"Honestly, compared to confirming the existence of a parallel universe, magical monsters almost seem like a minor detail."

"Parallel space theory!" another professor chimed in. "If it weren't for the need for secrecy, if this was released, I'm afraid the whole world would erupt. I can't imagine the impact."

Professors also from the expert group, nodded solemnly. "He's right. Once the West finds out about Mr. Liu's secret, those greedy and ferocious nations won't just sit back and watch us develop Westeros. To stop us... it's not impossible they'd even start a third world war."

"So, we must protect this secret!" Professor Liam said firmly.

Other Professor shook his head. "I'm afraid that's not realistic. In the future, when the scale of trade between the two worlds gets bigger and bigger... all those resources moving... you can't hide that kind of impact. All we can do is develop as much as we can, as fast as we can, while the secret is still hidden."

"We absolutely cannot let the Western countries know our secrets! Those bastards are vampires!"

"But that's not easy! Even with National Security, there's no guarantee..."

For a time, the conference room became noisy and chaotic. Everyone desperately wanted the secret to be kept, maybe even forever.

But they all knew that was impossible.

"Alright, now is not the time to worry about that!" Professor Liam finally had to interrupt, his voice loud. "The topic has strayed. Let's get back to the immediate problem: how to solve Mr. Liu's ghoul problem!"
