Chapter 428 - 428: The Price of Ash

If any ghouls or White Walkers survived a trap like this, Jason could only assume their magic was truly unbeatable.

After General finished his call and heard the advisory group's full plan, he was stunned. He swallowed hard. "Awesome! This plan is perfect. I'll contact the factory to start producing these remote-controlled incendiary bombs right away. It's only 100,000 tons. That's trivial!"

Jason felt the biggest threat in his heart was about to disappear. He flushed with joy, smiled, and said, "Thank you, General. I appreciate the trouble."

General commander waved it off and immediately ordered the military factory to go into full production for the 100,000 tons of bombs. The advisory group had been given high-level authority, so the factory had no problem working overtime to fill the order.

After all, this amount of ordnance wasn't even enough for a small-scale modern conflict. The factory staff might have wondered why they were producing such basic, remote-controlled incendiary bombs, but soldiers follow orders. They just focused on completing the task as quickly as possible.

At the same time, the advisory group reported the plan and received approval from the leaders to implement it.

After arranging the production task, General commander looked at Jason with a smile. "Jason, I've already arranged for the bomb production. In view of our good cooperative relationship, I'll waive the labor costs. You just have to pay the base price for the bombs. That's it!"

Jason, who had been laughing, was suddenly dumbfounded. He just remembered: he had to pay for all those bombs.

He rolled his eyes and grinned, hoping to get them for free. "General commander, come on. With our relationship, do we really need to talk about money? Isn't this amount a drop in the bucket for you?"

General glared at him. "Jason, we can't compare to your massive business. The country isn't made of money!"

Jason smiled. "Forget it, let it go. With our relationship, we'll have more cooperation in the future!"

General commander shook his head firmly. "No, no. You can't avoid paying for such a large amount of ammunition. You have so much money on hand, and this is only 300 million. That's nothing to you!"

Jason looked at the unyielding General and felt helpless. He sighed. Oh well, 300 million isn't that much. I still have over 99 billion left. I'll just give it to him. Compared to the money, turning those ghouls to ash as soon as possible was much more important.

So, without even seeing the 100 billion fund he had just received, Jason transferred 300 million from the company's special bank account.

After confirming the ghoul elimination plan, Jason gathered a large number of engineer shovels, preparing to dig the holes outside the Great Wall of Despair. As soon as the bombs were delivered, they would be buried to set the trap.

At the same time, the advisory group began ordering quick-drying cement, steel bars, and other building materials from local cement, steel, and gravel factories.

These materials were all for building the new wall outside the Great Wall of Despair. In terms of construction materials, nothing in Westeros could compare to modern reinforced concrete. Considering the extreme low temperatures and constant snow at The Wall, they chose a special frost-resistant cement designed for construction in cold areas.

The distribution and transport of these building materials were handled through formal company channels, so it wouldn't arouse suspicion.

Jason took tens of thousands of engineer shovels and returned directly to Castle Black.

When Jon, Kent, and the other soldiers went to the warehouse to unload the sharp shovels one by one, their mouths dropped open in shock.

"My lord," Jon said, stunned by the sheer number, "why did you get so many of these... shovels... all at once?" He was looking at tens of thousands of the same tools Jason had brought before.

Facing his closest subordinates, Jason didn't hide the truth. "I got a very powerful weapon. We're going to bury these weapons in the ground to create a large-scale trap circle. When the ghouls attack and enter the trap, I can destroy all of them!"

"What did you say?" Kent asked.

"You're not kidding, are you?"

"Destroy all the ghouls?" Marb said. "Gods be good, that sounds crazy."

Jon, Kent, Marb, and Rubin were all shocked, their eyes filled with suspicion. "A trap? What kind of trap can wipe out hundreds of thousands of ghouls?"

Seeing their doubt, Jason waved his hand and didn't explain further. "Okay, don't worry. I know what I'm doing. You just need to do as I say!"

This was exactly why Jason hadn't planned to tell the lords of the North or the Riverlands about the plan. These Westeros natives would never believe him without seeing the power of modern bombs firsthand. There was no point in arguing. It was time to start digging.

Under Jason's order, the tens of thousands of soldiers under his command were each handed a stainless steel shovel. They began to dig at the bombing points, following the large circle Jason had marked out.

The weather was cold and the ground was hard permafrost. But the military shovels were made of modern steel, so digging wasn't too difficult. With tens of thousands of men working at the same time, the speed was incredibly fast.

The ordinary soldiers didn't question the order to dig holes. They were curious about why Lord Jason was having them do this, but they were used to obeying orders.

They got three meals a day—not just enough to eat, but also delicious canned meat. They had never had such good days. This made the tens of thousands of soldiers under Jason's command completely loyal and respectful.

Compared to the nobles in Westeros who never took them seriously, Lord Jason was truly the best lord in the world.

Supplying food, especially meat, for more than 50,000 troops was difficult. Transporting it all by carriage from Starfire City, thousands of miles away, was impossible.

So, Jason had raided a modern military warehouse and taken all kinds of canned meat that were set to be disposed of. These cans of meat were old and cheap. Jason had unceremoniously "helped" clear their inventory and shipped it all directly to Castle Black to supply his soldiers.

For these soldiers, who came from low-born families and had only eaten meat a few times in their entire lives, getting to eat delicious, hearty meat every day made them truly happy. They felt that even if they died in the coming battles, it would be worth it.
