Chapter 15 - White Moth (1)

Tzzz....

A soft sizzling sound reached my ears as the shadow manifested clothes melted from my body.

Wooosh!

Wind blew as I manifested mist around me. The mist coalesced into white threads that wrapped around my body, forming simple robes, then further forming a long cloak, its edges seemingly made from fur.

Particles of light floated from the statue and moved toward me. They formed the winged earrings and gold-tipped gloves.

At the same time, a pair of white moth wings burst from my back, both with symmetrical silver cloud patterns. The wings folded and merged with the cloak, imprinting the pattern onto it and transforming it into four split layers that resemble the folded wings.

I extended my hand, placing it on the statue, then nodded.

"I will." My tone held respect, but also a comfort level only shown between friends.

I turned to Lilith, "Let's go."

Lilith looked at me with a dumbfounded look, unable to believe her eyes. She had witnessed my change of attire, along with a physical transformation I had yet to notice.

My hair had become pure white and as smooth and soft as silk, my eyes turned from gold to bright yellow, as if the colour had originated from them. My skin became smoother, and my face gained an attractiveness beyond what any mortal could achieve.

A mystique aura surrounded me, one that would make most mistake me for a royal figure.

This transformation seemingly came from nowhere. What truly befuddled her, though, was the fact that he casually touched and spoke to the statue of the mother, speaking to her as if talking to a close friend.

This wasn't noticed only by Lilith, as the three elders shared similar expressions to her. They whispered among themselves, discussing what could be going on with me.

'Who is that? Is he someone mentioned in the bible?'

'Not that I can recall. Maybe an unknown angel of the mother?'

'No, no way, his tone wouldn't be so friendly, it'd be more respectful.'

'A descended god then?'

' ...'

' ...'

Though they tried coming up with other solutions on what this man could be, the last suggestion was stuck in their minds, the mystic aura around fueling this theory. They found a newfound reverence toward Adam bubbling inside them.

Lilith, who overheard the conversation, also shared the sentiment. Unlike them, though, she was further convinced by the strange illusions she had around him.

Wearing the feathered earrings, I felt the emotions Lilith and the elders were feeling.

Confusion...

Suspision..

Shock...

Fear...

And finally reverence...

It wasn't hard to figure out what they were thinking, but this worked in my favour as I needed to gather followers, as I was now a demigod. While I didn't plan on stealing Annarith's believers, I could use them to build a reputation.

Looking at Lilith and the elders with a smile, I spoke. "Have no worry, I mean no harm, I came to meet with my friend, Annarith."

Gasp!..

I heard a gasp, then whispers. It was understandable; I had spoken the true name of their god. My words also held another meaning to them—I had practically confirmed being a god, being just short of a direct confirmation.

"I guess this is a better time than any. I am Adam..." I paused for a moment before continuing, "The White Moth."

I bowed nobly with a smile.
