—Inner Headquarters. Meeting room. half an hour earlier
Lilith sat at the far end of a long table. Behind her was a painting depicting the Mother descending into a primitive tribal looking village. This was Radius, though, it was a time before they were called Radius, but that's a story for another time.
Surrounding the table before her were five others. These were the five captains of the heart order, third in the order of command, and stationed primarily in the inner circle.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
The man at the other end of the table tapped his index finger, catching the attention of everyone in the room and causing them to go quiet.
[Gild Marrow]
-First captain
-
-
The four badges on his right chest showing his information. Captain Marrow's onyx gaze swept across the room, studying each person.
[Harold Yest]
-Second captain
-
-
He was a chubby man blue-eyed man, his ginger hair slicked back.
[James Karmine]
-Third captain
-
-
Tall, slim, but built body, with black hair and deep gray eyes. Lilith's father.
[Mariann Marrow]
-Fourth captain
-
-
Short brown hair, black eyes, a busty body, and a mole on her chin.
[Lily Rowe]
-Fifth captain
-
-
Short, Black hair tied into a ponytail, pink eyes, gold-framed glasses.
And finally, Lilith, who sat without any badges, as she was in casual clothes. Everyone else wore black military-looking clothes, accented with peach.
"Enough of this discussion, there is something more immediately important."
The Gild spoke, his low voice filled with a sense of authority.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
His finger tapping became more prominent—clearly, he was annoyed. His gaze shifted towards Lilith.
"Who exactly is this man that you've brought into Radius?"
While the rumor was that he was a 'god' and he called himself White Moth, there was nothing proving that he was a god, but gods are beings who mortals can never fully understand, so it was still on the table.
Lilith shifted uncomfortably in her seat. The gaze of the first captain came with a heavy pressure, one that Lilith didn't want to bear for long. It made her extremely nervous.
Hoooo...
She took a deep breath, calming her nerves before speaking.
"His name is Adam..."
She recounted everything, from the time he burst from the silver serpent to the strange illusions to the cause of the rumor that he was a god. Everyone listened attentively, Gild especially. He felt his brow twitch as Lilith spoke about the illusions.
'I've heard a similar case to this before.'
A frown appeared on his face. It wasn't a good memory. All generals under him had died at that time, forcing their students to take their place prematurely. It was a simple mistake, one that cost him dearly.
He was full of regret, but he pushed it aside and focused on the task at hand.
'Similar or not, I need to know more.'
Tch...
Lily Rowe, the fifth captain, clicked her tongue.
"So we know jack shit, that's what you're saying."
With her legs on the table, her face held an obvious scowl as she spoke. She was obviously the youngest here, her face still holding some baby fat, giving it a rounded shape.
She held the title of the second youngest captain, losing the first place to the now second commander from the center circle.
This was something she was extremely ashamed of, despite the many praises that came her way. It pushed her to aim for the position of youngest commander. No one really knew why, though.
"Not entirely."
Harold Yest, the second captain, spoke.
"Haaaah?" Lily turned her scowling face to Harold.
"We can now confirm that he is at least not entirely against the Mother. He wouldn't have been able to hypnotize Lilith to get into Radius. She would have been protected."
Everyone nodded in agreement, believing it to be a solid argument.
"The problem lies in whether he is truly a god or not."
James Karmine, the third captain and Lilith's father, spoke up.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
Silence filled the room, everyone becoming silent. Each person in the room understood the implications of the rumor being true.
If it wasn't, it just meant that Adam wasn't a threat they needed to worry about.
But if it was...
It meant that the Mother had likely called him for help. Something like that meant that there was a problem the Mother couldn't handle alone. If he refused to help, it meant complete annihilation.
Sigh... Gild massaged his forehead and sighed.
'How troublesome.'
"Well... Whether or not the rumor is true, I think we should send him to the 12th sector."
Everyone turned to look at Gild.
"While he doesn't seem to be against the Mother, that doesn't mean there isn't any danger. Besides, he could benefit from this as well if he was truly a god."
James spoke, "I agree."
Then Harold
Then Mariann
Then Lily
With all the captains in agreement, they ended the meeting.
"Lily, Marianna, come with me, we'll tell him what we've discussed." Gild said this as he put on his cloak.
They follow suit as they walked out and to the waiting room.
