Sheila resumed walking, her thoughts turning toward the academy.
The Bastion Assessment was not something created specifically for her year. The current third-years had already experienced it, and previous generations of students had undergone similar trials.
So where had they completed theirs?
Were they sent here too?
It seemed a reasonable question.
If previous cohorts had occupied Veyrhold, surely some evidence of their presence would have remained. Even temporary repairs, cleared living spaces, or remnants of maintained infrastructure might have survived between assessments.
Then again, the students would have departed after completing their examination. Without anyone maintaining the settlement afterward, their improvements could have deteriorated.
Sheila considered that possibility.
It was plausible, particularly given Eldervale's conditions.
But it did not entirely satisfy her.
