The Southern District of Veyrhold had grown considerably quieter since dinner.
Sheila Granger walked along one of its cleared streets, her pace unhurried as she made her way toward the central structure. The lively conversations that had filled the communal dining area earlier had mostly faded, replaced by the quieter sounds of students preparing for the night. A few classmates remained outside their assigned sleeping quarters, talking softly while cleaning equipment or arranging their belongings. Others were already inside, taking advantage of the opportunity to rest after an exhausting day.
Near one of the storage buildings, two students were securing the remaining food supplies while another checked the inventory against a handwritten list. Farther along, a small group carried the last of the cleaned cooking equipment toward its designated storage area.
Sheila passed them with a brief greeting.
"Evening, Commander," one of the students replied.
