Chapter 300 - Chapter 299 - A New Threat.

[Chapter Size: 2600 Words.]

Third Person POV

Japan.

...

...

Severus stepped out of the portal and fell directly into a destroyed Tokyo, while activating his staff and floating in the air to stop the fall.

The portal began to tremble behind him, closing completely, while Severus descended back to the pile of rubble with a gentle landing. There were more helicopters than before circling the area, and all of them turned back to him with their cameras.

Severus ignored the aircraft and turned his gaze to Vujin pointing his camera at him, taking more photos of him, with the dead giant behind him. His eyes held mockery toward the damn journalist.

"You finally dealt with the giant boss," Vujin said, in a calm tone.

"Saying it like that, do you even know what happened in there?" Severus mocked, but Vujin did not respond. "Anyway, we need to have a conversation," Severus added in a serious tone.

"Not now, Mr. Prince. You should celebrate first. You are a hero in the eyes of the world right now. You freed Japan, taken over by giants destroying everything for seven days — something no one managed to deal with. But you went there and defeated them in just half a day," he said, while the sky began to darken, which meant it was getting close to dawn in England.

Severus only shrugged. He did not care that much about being seen as a hero. He did what he had to do.

But he had to admit, his strength now was overwhelming. He had not even used eighty percent of his mana. If it were not for the Black Heart, he would have had serious trouble dealing with the giants throughout all of Japan before acquiring it. It would take days of fighting and resting until he truly destroyed all the giants.

Anyway, Severus turned his eyes in a few directions.

"I'm leaving, Vujin. I still intend to have dinner at my house and I don't want the world's attention on me right now. I only intend to do a few things before going, and also fetch my fiancées," he said, as he disappeared with apparition, completely ignoring him.

"One of them is dead..." Vujin spoke to himself there, with the only sound being that of the helicopters. His eyes went to the sky, which was beginning to darken, as if he were trying to see beyond the atmosphere of that world.

In the solar system, at that moment, the Monarch of Ice could not help but feel something. His eyes turned toward the planet Earth in the distance, sensing a strange feeling of loss.

"What is happening? The invasion has just begun. Why did he disappear?" he murmured, sitting on his mountain of ice, surrounded by his soldiers.

"That glow from a few hours ago... what was that? How did the Monarch of Giants disappear completely? His presence was eradicated. I need to see this." He had seen Severus's magical power when he released it in Japan, while elsewhere in the world, the feeling of recognition he had with the Monarch of Giants disappeared completely.

But there was something else in that world now, he realized. The presence of the Monarch of Giants had disappeared, and at the same time, another presence was beginning to emerge. A new portal somewhere in that world. Something unknown to him. A dark and obscure power that did not belong to any of the other monarchs he knew — at least, that was what he thought.

"What is happening with this primitive world?" he murmured. The eyes of the Monarch of Ice gleamed.

"I'd better go check this out," he declared, beginning to prepare his committee to return to the planet once more, instead of heading to another world.

But first, he opened a portal and went to the place where he had previously encountered the Monarch of Giants.

When he stepped out, he found the entire city destroyed, but there was no longer any portal. The sky was already losing its last remnants of the red glow that had been there before.

"What happened here? Where is the portal?" His eyes turned downward, finding a dead giant.

"Who killed him?" his voice almost faltered. Stunned, he knew that the Monarch of Giants had the power to create an avatar, sacrificing part of the main body's power.

His giant was there, dead. Without the portal, that meant only one thing...

"Look what we have here… an unexpected visitor," a voice called out beside him.

The Monarch of Ice immediately turned around, still stunned, seeing a man approaching him with a calm smile.

"Who are you?" the Monarch of Ice murmured in a dangerous tone.

The entire air began to grow heavy, enough to crush an ordinary human. Even so, the man in front of him seemed not to care in the slightest, which made the Monarch of Ice even more cautious.

"You are quite far from home, Monarch of Ice," he said simply, leaving the monarch even more stunned.

"Did you kill the Monarch of Giants?" the accusation came swiftly, at the same time as the air grew colder and colder. There was no other explanation; he felt that this world was not as ordinary as it should be, and he had said this to his companion, but the Monarch of Giants did not want to listen.

"I wouldn't say that, but I think you might also be a threat..." he replied, as his eyes began to turn yellow. A power emerged from his body rapidly, making the entire environment tremble with the clash of the two energies.

"What…?" the Monarch of Ice was surprised, feeling the energy of the man before him surpass his own. "You are one of them," said the Monarch of Ice, narrowing his eyes. There were no doubts in his mind.

"You flatter me with those words, my old enemy. Tell me, where is your army? The Monarch of Giants had only fifty giants to fight alongside him. Quite pathetic, knowing that you have already destroyed several worlds in the universe," he mocked.

The Monarch of Ice remained silent, staring at him. "I don't know why you are here, nor how you got here. I even wonder if you have been hiding here all this time, in this world... You should have disappeared long ago. In any case, I know you destroyed the giants... but I will destroy you when I return, and I will not be as weak as the other Monarch," said the Monarch of Ice, in an angry tone.

He knew what stood before him because of the power emanating from that man. Steve did nothing. He merely watched him open a portal and step into it, disappearing completely. The strange portal and the death of the Monarch of Giants were deeds that the Monarch of Ice immediately attributed to that man; he did not even imagine that there was another variable in this weak world.

Steve's eyes could not help but drift to his own hands. "I am merely a shell. If I had fought him, I might have even gained the upper hand at first, but soon I would grow weak, and my shell would rupture. I need my full power back... But it will take a few more days," he sighed, looking up at the sky once again.

He knew there would not be enough time before the golden comet reached this world... That was why he had to trust that Severus Prince could deal with the Monarch of Ice. He only hoped that the army of shadows would arrive faster.

Now that he had received the Black Heart, the portal began to open.

Night had finally taken over Japan as Severus moved from city to city. In each of them, the dead giants were absorbed, and he used the ability to create shadow giants. Some people noticed immediately and began to celebrate upon seeing him.

The entire country was celebrating at that moment; despite many being in mourning, the majority rejoiced.

The president, trying to quickly seize the spotlight, demanded that Severus meet with him to improve his own image alongside the hero. Some military personnel, who had received orders over the radio across the country, approached Severus, but he ignored them, saying that he was returning to England that very night.

Even more invitations appeared from all kinds of sources. The supreme chieftain, the Ministry of Magic of Japan, and even powerful families wanted to meet Severus. Still, as he passed from city to city, people were astonished to see the giants return in the form of darkness before plunging once more into Severus's shadow.

After turning all the giants into soldiers — being unable to do anything about Tokyo's guardian giant or even the dead monarch, since they could not be transformed — Severus headed west, launching himself into the air toward the sea.

The army of Atlantis was gathered, its weapons firing at a giant on the ocean floor, which continued advancing as it tried to reach the coast.

Severus surprised them when he dove in without needing to cast any spell. He entered the depths of the sea without caring about the pressure, without any protection or need to breathe. He simply executed the giant in front of the soldiers of Atlantis, transformed it into a giant shadow, and disappeared shortly after as he flew back to the surface, leaving the dead body behind along with the completely stunned Atlanteans.

Severus retrieved Rosaria and Bellatrix. Then, after speaking with Vicência, he found a Portkey, saying that he was returning home and would not accept any invitations at that moment. The chaos had been contained, and the woman did not contest it, despite wanting to speak with him.

As soon as he left Japan with his two fiancées and arrived at Prince Manor, he was greeted by the elves, who jumped with joy. They had already heard all the news through newspapers and radios, with Alaric keeping everything updated. To them, Master Prince had fought alone in a war that no one else had been able to face. A true hero— even Genini, his house-elf, who had been afraid of him, had overcome that some time ago and now had shining eyes at the thought of serving such a heroic master.

Severus sent invitations through Portkeys to his other two fiancées, who arrived shortly afterward at Prince Manor. None of them had slept, and the sun was already high over England.

"You should rest," Severus said at the end after explaining what had happened in Japan to them. Two of them had fought in Japan, while the others had stayed awake all night searching for news, and he offered them rooms in the manor.

Severus had no idea how the world was reacting at that moment, but he knew it must be upside down. He read the newspapers that Steve had produced throughout the entire night and could not help rolling his eyes at how they portrayed him, painting him as an almost immaculate hero. Even his shadows were praised individually; Beru, Igris, and others had been named as heroes in the newspapers as well.

The shadows also saw the news and seemed embarrassed beneath Severus's feet, making the Monarch of Shadows sigh at their behavior.

"That guy…" Severus murmured, beginning to observe the pile of letters arriving through the fireplace and the door.

In just one hour, there were already more than two thousand letters from all kinds of places. The entire world wanted to speak with him.

Hundreds of national and international reporters had immediately gathered in front of the gates, calling his name desperately. The elves did their best not to disturb their master with it.

Among all the letters, one in particular caught his attention. It was from Lily Evans. Severus had given orders for any letter with her name to be set aside.

He still had doubts about how to react regarding the girl. Lily certainly was not in the category of his fiancées. But they had started talking again; since the day he faced Beru and the ants at Hogwarts, he had drawn closer to her, drunk, talking about the old days, ignoring most of the fights that had ended their friendship.

Severus could see regret in the girl's eyes. He had humiliated himself in the past, trying to rekindle the friendship and apologize, but Lily had refused to listen. She tried to get close to him last year, and he treated her cruelly and like the wind, until he eventually started walking with her again.

Now, he himself did not know what existed between them. She confessed that she had not been able to forget the time she was affected by the love potion, but at the same time, that meant something...

Still, he would read her letter.

Upon opening it, he immediately noticed the urgent tone of the writing. At first, he thought she would talk about what had happened in Japan. But it was more than that.

First, Lily congratulated him and said she was proud of him. Soon after, however, the letter mentioned something far more worrying: a portal appearing in the sky above Cokeworth.

Severus closed the letter and turned to the elf. "Say that I'm out, if anyone asks for me," he ordered.

His uncle was still sleeping, as were the other fiancées. Everyone had gone to rest. Even the elves needed rest, and Severus left only one on watch at the manor for a few hours, before the next shift.

He left the manor and returned to the city where he had grown up, teleporting. As soon as he arrived, his eyes immediately turned to the sky, where a purple portal was forming.

People were frightened throughout the streets of the city, especially after what had happened in Japan. Whispers and panic spread through the streets, as everyone pointed upward.

"Another one of them..." Severus murmured. "This is getting more and more bizarre."

"Sev!" a voice called out to him from the side.

He turned and saw Lily running toward him, with her parents right behind. That immediately drew the attention of the people on the street, who began to recognize him. After all, his name was already splashed across all the magical newspapers and also in the Muggle ones.

Severus wondered whether those people knew he was the scrawny boy everyone had despised, Tobias's son. He thought about what his resentful father might be thinking at that moment, if he was even sober enough to recognize his own son. To Severus, he had always been pathetic.

"Lily..." Severus said, ignoring the looks around them.

"Severus, did you read my letter? Tell me, what is this?" she asked, worried, almost in panic.

If a portal had already destroyed an entire country, imagine another one appearing right above where their house was located.

The city where he had grown up would perhaps become the heart of another crisis.

"I still don't know," Severus commented, without averting his gaze. His purple eyes stared at the portal. He felt something different from the other one. There was almost an affinity, as if he were directly connected to it.

But clearly, something was about to come out of it.

This time, he would be prepared. And he would not allow what happened in Japan to be repeated in England.
