[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]
Third Person POV
Japan.
...
...
Without knowing what was happening in England, Severus waited motionless, while his shadows gathered more and more behind Igris and Beru. Quickly, a multitude of shadows assembled, coming from all directions, positioning themselves directly behind him like his loyal army.
Others circled around the giants, while even more shadows came from opposite sides, all converging toward him. With each passing moment, a larger army took shape, thousands of purple eyes behind Severus.
Severus waited until all of them were gathered. Meanwhile, Vujin was still somewhere, taking photos, but Severus had already grown tired of worrying about that individual and kept his gaze fixed on the giants.
There were helicopters flying over the destroyed city, arriving to witness the final battle, all watching from afar.
Finally, the thousand shadows were gathered behind Severus, awaiting the command. He made his first move, raising the staff as he mastered it and recited a spell.
Giant silver chains as thick as buildings exploded from the ground around the giant, rushing toward it before the creature could react. It was surrounded by the chains, which wrapped tightly around its body.
It seemed surprised as its hands and feet were restrained. Seeing this, Severus simply raised his hand, and all the soldiers began to advance rapidly toward the enemy.
The horde of shadows surged forward in unison. Severus watched alongside Igris and Beru, still standing at a distance, seeing the shadows run through the destroyed streets toward the giant's legs, while the ants flew above.
When they finally reached it, the shadows clung to the giant's legs trapped by the chains. It reacted, finally lowering its massive head.
Severus raised an eyebrow when, in a single movement, the giant not only broke the chains created by his magic, but also kicked the ground with immense force. The shadows were thrown away, and debris flew everywhere, rising into the sky and falling back down across the city.
Some pieces flew toward Severus, who raised his hand and blasted a massive concrete wall in front of him, protecting himself. Even so, several parts of the city began to explode from the impact of the falling debris.
Helicopters in the distance panicked, with rocks and rubble passing dangerously close as they tried to pull away.
"With this, they won't even try to get involved here," Severus murmured, watching the helicopters immediately retreat.
There were no more people in Tokyo. He teleported everyone who was trapped within the rubble to a more distant location.
Now, the fight would truly begin.
The giant returned to its original position, unable to prevent several ants from settling on its legs and remaining there. The shadows destroyed by the kick began to regenerate, while others were already climbing up its body.
The giant seemed irritated, but at the same time showed no great concern. It swatted with its hands, slapping and removing shadows from its body, while Severus observed everything from a distance, analyzing every movement.
"Well, let's act," Severus said.
The shadow beneath his feet began to expand, and his body started to rise. Wyvern's form emerged completely, finally appearing on the battlefield.
Wyvern immediately shot into the sky, carrying Severus, Igris, and Beru. They drew closer and closer to the giant.
The giant seemed to notice their presence and, after looking at the small nuisance clinging to its legs, shifted its attention to the small "bird" approaching.
"This is bad..." Severus narrowed his eyes.
The giant swung its arm, and as soon as they got close enough, it threw a punch so fast that even Wyvern couldn't react. The impact exploded against the flying mount, spreading smoke in all directions.
At the same time, three figures separated in the air. Two individuals charged forward at high speed along the giant's arm extended by the punch, while the other was hurled into the sky.
Severus and Igris advanced together along the giant's arm. Beru flew toward it from above.
The giant tried to pull its hand back, but they had already reached its shoulder and were advancing toward its face. Beru arrived soon after, and the three unleashed a sequence of blows against the giant's face.
The giant roared, bringing its hand up to protect its most sensitive parts and stepping back. Each movement destroyed the ground beneath its feet, crushed by its colossal weight.
Quickly, it tried to fight back against Severus and the shadows using its free hand, attempting to swat them like flies while they circled its face and launched numerous attacks. Only lines of cuts appeared, most striking the hand protecting the face, failing to reach the actual face.
"Let's attack the joint first," Severus ordered.
He and Igris shot toward the arm protecting the face, while Beru continued attacking to distract the giant. The shadows were still clinging to the creature's body, trying to weigh it down and limit its movements.
Kargalgan unleashed a burst of flames, while Lance, the centaur, fired a beam directly at the giant's chest. The attack struck it, but caused little effect. It was far more resilient than the other fifty giants that had been defeated.
The giant began to lose strength in its arm when Severus and Igris cut deeply beneath it, in the armpit region, destroying the joint. Beru took advantage of the opening, tearing into its eye.
"Now, Igris. Let's bring it down first." Severus saw a better opportunity.
Both of them dove straight downward, while the giant's other hand rose to protect its face from Beru's attacks, which had already cost it one of its visions.
The giant soon felt its legs give way. Severus and Igris cut through both joints, and it fell to its knees, slamming heavily into the ground. Some shadows had already recovered and were once again clinging to the colossal body.
Now vulnerable, with one hand still protecting its face, the giant tried to react.
"Advance!" Severus ordered from a distance.
The shadows covered the giant's entire body, which could no longer handle the attacks. Severus and Igris returned to the upper part and cut the arms again.
Without both arms and without its legs, the giant began to suffer attacks from all sides, completely unable to react.
'My king, he will ask the portal for help,' an intent came from Kargalgan, not in words, as a warning, while the orc shaman used a spell to monitor the giant's magical actions.
Severus acted quickly. In an instant, he blocked all sound in that area, creating a magical barrier large enough to completely isolate the giant and themselves, with his staff raised. The giant roared, seeking help from the portal, but was unable to pass through the barrier that had been created.
Beru took advantage when the giant opened its mouth and entered inside it. Severus and Igris began cutting even more from the outside, while Beru attacked internally. It took some time, but finally the giant began to fall, defeated.
With its face completely torn apart, as well as the inside when Beru cut through the back of the throat to exit, it collapsed, crushing some shadows. The impact of its body echoed throughout the city.
Severus landed at a distance and observed the giant, now dead and inert.
"This giant... he clearly had far too much power. But he was only a guardian..." he murmured, while his eyes turned to the portal. There was something very strange there.
"It was a fine victory." When everything calmed down, a round of applause arose, coming from a single person who was there watching, with a small smile on his face even in the midst of so many shadows.
Severus only stared at him for a second and soon ignored him. His eyes were fixed on the portal. His shadows were recovering, and the order was clear: all of them were to return to the shadow beneath his feet.
Some helicopters in the distance began to approach again.
"Pass the message to the president. The giant was defeated!" someone shouted over the radio, as they watched from afar. Quickly, reporters began turning on their live cameras.
The president slammed his hand hard on the table, excited.
"He defeated it!" he shouted in Japanese. "Gather the reporters! We're taking this to all of Japan!" he exclaimed, leaving the room to meet the press.
"The Tokyo giant has been defeated. Severus Prince managed to bring it down," the broadcast announced to everyone, while at the same time the battle report began to circulate, with Vujin doing his job.
People felt relieved, not only in Japan, but all over the world. The threat had finally fallen.
"Where is Severus Snape? Tell him the president is inviting him!" the Japanese president exclaimed over the radio.
"He is still in Tokyo, in front of the dead giant. He is guarding all those shadows..." the men in the helicopters replied.
"Wait... he is manifesting a shadow. The same shadow he uses to fly!" Wyvern was manifested at that moment!"
In an instant, Wyvern shot into the sky, leaving Vujin behind.
"He's entering the portal!" they exclaimed over the radio.
Vujin watched Severus reach the portal in the red sky before disappearing inside it. His eyes narrowed.
"Well... this is the first one you will face, but he is weakened. The fool underestimated this world far too much," he murmured.
Vujin said nothing more. His eyes remained fixed on the portal the entire time, until the final moment, when the last shadow of Severus recovered and he finally surged forward to enter the portal.
He needed to know what was on the other side, where those creatures came from. And so, he entered the portal.
Meanwhile, on an enormous throne, a man over six meters tall sat like a barbarian, eating unknown fruits. He had a thick beard, long hair, and a threatening gaze, capable of crushing any human of that world. Even so, he was calm as he ate.
"I suppose it's already time for me to see what my children are doing," he murmured, now growing impatient.
His plan was to devastate that world with his giants and, finally, begin gathering souls. With luck, after creating a dozen giants, he would move on to another world. He always did this: he let his giants destroy everything before beginning the purification and then advanced to another plane, gathering more and more soldiers, just like the other monarchs.
That place was the Great Palace of the Monarch of Giants.
He was about to end his moment of leisure and rise from the throne to enter the world when he heard footsteps. That made him freeze.
There should be no one there. He had not sensed any invader.
"Damn humans... Did they come all the way here? But that world seemed so peaceful. Did my guardian let him pass?!" he murmured, narrowing his eyes toward the entrance, from where the footsteps came, growing louder and louder.
The next moment, a man wearing a black jacket, with glowing purple eyes, calmly walked through the audience hall, staring at him on the throne.
"I see. So you used a portion of your own power to create that larger giant," Severus said, as the Monarch of Giants raised an eyebrow.
"You know that? Who are you? Are you a human?" he asked cautiously.
"I can read your mana structure. You used eighty percent of your strength to create the larger giant as an image of yourself. Now you are in a weakened state. What a fool..." the mysterious man declared.
"How do you know that?" the giant seemed shocked. "How did you get past my sentinel?"
Severus simply smiled.
"Bringing it down was easy. Even so, passing through it would have been simple. It isn't as powerful as you imagine," he said, shrugging.
"No... that's not possible!" the giant seemed enraged. "Who are you? There shouldn't be anyone this strong in this world!"
"I see you don't remember me, Ryu. Or should I say now... Monarch of Giants?" Severus said, in an almost playful tone. "The ring served you well, and so did the power you gained with it. Or perhaps you are still the same as before."
The giant froze upon hearing those words.
"Who the hell are you?" he murmured, in shock, before beginning to analyze Severus. He could see the darkness around him, a power he knew very well.
"No... it can't be..." the giant said, taking a step back. "You are him. Moro... This is the power of the Shadow Monarch!"
"I see you recognized me, old companion. We were of the same order, until you and the others betrayed us."
"How is this possible? You died! We all saw it!" said the Monarch of Giants, his eyes wide as he finally understood what was happening. "It can't be..."
Severus merely stared at him with a murderous gleam in his eyes.
"I don't know how many worlds you destroyed, but you will pay for everything," Severus said.
The Monarch of Giants barely had time to react. Suddenly, Severus appeared behind him and drove a dagger into his back, piercing his skin. The giant was stunned, spitting blood, and became paralyzed by one of the weapon's effects.
Before he could react, Severus released the dagger, making it disappear, and a staff materialized in his hand. He spun it and thrust it into the giant's body.
The Monarch tried to desperately circulate his mana to escape, but at that moment, he felt real danger. There was no time to react.
His body swelled from the inside out, and the staff released a brutal explosion. Blood splattered everywhere as the Monarch of Giants died in a pathetic manner, like a balloon bursting.
Severus remained standing before the destroyed body. The torso simply no longer existed, blown apart by the attack. Only the lower part of the body remained there, inert.
The Monarch of Giants no longer existed.
"You were the first," Severus murmured. "With this, I must still search for the others."
He cleaned himself of the scattered blood and looked at a ring fallen on the ground. It was the same ring that contained the monarch's power and had not been destroyed, the one that should have been in that hall on the day of the betrayal.
Now, there, with the Monarch of Giants dead, the ring should store his power once again.
Severus picked up the ring and began to leave.
