Although Airi's words made it sound as though Yuto had done nothing wrong, he knew he had genuinely failed to return her devotion.
He needed to make it up to her properly.

She took a deep breath and spoke seriously to Kikyo.
"To prevent Sudo-kun and the others from failing, Kushida-san, could I ask you to assist me in holding another study session?"

Kikyo tilted her head while maintaining her sweet smile.
"Are you asking me this for Sudo-kun and the others, Horikita-san?"
"No. I'm doing it for myself—and for Shimizu!"
Suzune suddenly pointed at Yuto.
Yuto looked completely confused.
Kei and Kikyo were puzzled too.
What did this have to do with her boyfriend?
"Horikita, explain," Yuto said, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
"It's simple."
"Shimizu and I share the same goal. We both want Class D to rise to Class A."
"We might need Sudo and the others' abilities someday," Suzune answered without hesitation.
Yuto rolled his eyes.
Sudo might be useful because he excelled in athletics.
But Ike and Yamauchi were another matter entirely.
They were useless in both academics and sports.

"I don't mind helping gather everyone again. We're all classmates, after all."
"Right, Yuto?" Kikyo asked with a smile as she stood close to him.

"Hey! You can talk without getting so close to my boyfriend!" Kei complained with puffed cheeks.
Under Karuizawa's furious gaze, Kikyo's smile only grew brighter. As if deliberately provoking her, she pressed her ample chest firmly against Yuto's arm before finally pulling away.

Kikyo looked toward the cold-faced Suzune.
"Horikita-san, are you refusing to give up on Sudo-kun and the others because you want Class D to reach Class A?"

"I'll do the same," Suzune said stiffly.
The cold and proud Suzune had always been alone.
She had never cooperated or struggled alongside others, so she did not know how to properly respond to Yuto's words.
In that harmonious atmosphere, the bell rang.
Kikyo said goodbye and returned to her seat.
Class began.
Class D's discipline remained reassuringly good.
Even though poor students like Sudo, Ike, and Yamauchi could not understand what the teachers were explaining, they at least pretended to listen attentively.

Wasn't she sitting a little too near him?

Yuto stroked Kikyo's smooth thigh under the table and then said in a low voice, "Be careful, Kikyo. We aren't supposed to look like a couple."
