Cherreads

Chapter 11 - Chapter 6 (Pt 2)

"ROSEN"

"Can anyone hear me?" I knew my voice wasn't reaching well, or else they might have been here in a span of seconds.

"Rachel, Aunt. Where are you? Please, can someone get me a glass of water?"

I waited for another ten minutes, but no one showed up.

I shouldn't.

I'll have to move.

I got up from the bed and slowly made my way out of my room. I stumbled every now and then, and with every step, it felt as though I were dragging my entire body along with me.

Just a little farther. I only needed to move a bit more to reach the kitchen.

Finally made it there. Now, all that was left was to get down the stairs.

Slowly and steadily going down was all I could do. I crossed half of the stairs. Six more stairs to go.

Not now.

I could feel myself getting dizzy. This is not right. I need to call someone. Urgent.

"Aunt May, Rachel."

It landed on deaf ears yet again. It appears that no one is home except for me.

The only feasible option left was to sit on the stairs, or else, I know, I might fall.

I slowly tried to sit on the stairs but then heard someone scream from behind me. Ahh. Such an irritating scream.

Ever since I had gotten sick, my senses have heightened; no medical records could prove why.

I put both my hands over my ears to block out the sound, but that little movement was enough to throw me off balance. Before I could steady myself, my foot slipped, and I went tumbling down the last six stairs.

I landed hard on my stomach and lay there, completely stunned.

I can't even move now.

A warm trickle ran down the side of my face. I could feel it clearly, and judging by the location, my forehead was definitely bleeding.

There was someone in the house. I knew there had to be. A scream couldn't have come out of thin air.

So, gathering whatever strength I had left, I called out again.

"Aunt May."

Just after calling her, I lost consciousness.

Am I in heaven? My record must be clean. If I'm in heaven, then why on earth am I hearing cries? You can't hear cries in heaven, can you? Right.

"Rosen. I'm so sorry."

Now I know that I'm in my room, on my bed, and not in heaven.

I opened my eyes only to see three people watching me with the eyes that said, 'Please, wake up.'

"OH. Thank goodness. Rosen, you scared me. Who told you to go down? If you wanted to walk, you still should have stayed on the 1st floor rather than going down. You aren't supposed to put too much weight on your legs." Aunty, with her usual scolding tone, came at me.

"Why are you scolding me? I called both of you, but none of you answered."

And the problem this time wasn't my legs, so please stop blaming them. My legs probably must be tired of hearing these blames. They are useless, but I can feel them getting stronger now.

As for them, they have no right to say anything to me. It's their fault after all.

Rachel: "Sorry, Master Rosen. This will not happen again."

There she goes again with her crying.

I sighed and took a breath. "Now, why are you crying? I haven't said anything yet."

"Madam Rose would not forgive me for my irresponsibility." I could hear the fear in her voice.

So, I'm not the reason to bring tears to her eyes. She's scared of Rose.

Just what has Rose been doing with them?

"Look, not a word to Rose about what happened today. She'll freak out, and I don't want her worrying. Got it?"

I also said it because I know what would happen if she found out. After dealing with the entire household, she'd probably come straight to me and take out whatever temper she had left.

And she is no joke when she's angry.

I'll be fine in a few days anyway, so there's no need to disturb her over this. I'd rather she stay there and focus on things than have her go completely crazy worrying about me.
