Chapter 498 - Chapter 498: Red Thread

Dragged into the castle itself, Zazel would flail like a fish as he tries to free himself from Alice's grip, being surprised how strong it was for a girl around his age. As he struggled, his eyes would be quickly caught onto the walls, tapestries laid out regarding King himself, showcasing achievements he earned in his early years. One tapestry depicts him crossing across the oceans, each step over violent waters, until he reached the land that was marked to act as Calibren. Another was him facing against a massive monster, a Demon with many hands and a visible, golden eye for a head, four horns on each side as if he was a twisted flower. It adorned a black cape, holding a sigil within its center that the little Devil couldn't make out properly. Zazel would squint his eyes to see who it was, being shocked when he found not one, but two sigils, the second layered besides the first as if it was a messy pattern.

The King managed to face off against Shax and Eligos simultaneously and won.

A few more tapestries down the line would showcase the King of All climbing up a staircase, golden in color, as the sky looked to be cracked, as if it was made of glass. Confused, he'd shift his body around to focus his attention, being stunned once more when he saw beyond the cracked sky of a familiar face. Hollowed eyes, with only light escaping from its sockets and mouth. "How...." He mumbled, but Alice was quick to hear his words and answer his questions

"Oh? Those? Our glorious king has held his autobiography within his kingdom whenever anyone comes to visit. Most people believed this was to set expectations, with each tapestry showcasing a feat he's done before Calibren was even born. A way to signal to his enemies that only the might of God himself is enough to vanquish him. Of course, that would be a silly thought, wouldn't it, Little kitty? To lose against what feels like the immeasurable? Everyone has a weak point somewhere, wouldn't they?" Zazel's gaze looked over at the girl, annoyed of her trying to lead him on.

"Just get to the point and say he's busted beyond measure."

"Oh, but that'd spoil the fuuuun." She'd pout a bit as she'd see Zazel's deadpan face, rolling her eyes as she speaks again. "In retrospect, it fits him. He's considered 'uncanny.' 'Immovable', dare one say. 'Immortal', even! I don't think that's right though, as he is still human. Yet, he's also the Strongest Human who's ever lived. What an odd oxymoron. Someone so vastly strong, but only in those so limited. Why, I can even believe myself that you, Little Kitty, can be considered the strongest of the Ki-"

"I'm a DEMON!!! Why the Kitty stuff!? What makes you think I'm like a cat!?!"

"Well, you do have a bit of a temper!"

"NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, What makes you think I'd HAVE that!?"

"Haven't the faintest idea!"

"...You are blind." A giggle was heard from Alice as she kept pulling Zazel away, before reaching towards her own room, adorned in red and white, as if she was living in a house of cards. Her bed was massive in size, almost having to act as the floor with its width, soft as a feather, as she'd toss the Demon over, watching him sink into it. Despite being stuck, Zazel can't help but snuggle in, being comforted by the cushioning, before remembering her plans. "Okay! Let's make this VERY! VERY! CLEAR!! I am keeping my jacket, alright?! Sure, it's not really a big wardrobe change, but it is MY CLOTHES! It belongs to me and ME-" Before he was able to utter another word, Alice would be quick on pulling out another jacket. Same leather touch, but now in a striking red, with black imprints across its sleeves and sides.

She was even able to take the few parts of black in her room and meld it with the clothing, letting it bleed over to match his demonic appearance, a sigil on its back. Alice would then take the metallic spikes and apply it across the imprints, letting the silver strike as hard as the bright colors. "There we are! Now you have something that isn't like it was melting in your skin~!" A cheery tone as she'd present the new fashioned jacket towards the Demon, letting him be amazed at it. For once, it was something he was willing to wear. He'd be quick to switch his old, worn jacket with the new one, almost feeling at ease with it once it is on him. He'd slip himself off of her bed as he'd look into a mirror, somewhat warped in appearance, but nevertheless the same. "Soooooo? Is my little Kitty feeling any better?"

"...It actually belongs to me." He'd answer, letting Alice's expression change from her usual fanatical joy, to a somber concern. From the many times he was chased away, having to only wear whatever was available, sticking with what he's got to the end, he's finally found something that feels right to wear. He could still remember the time he walked around the streets with only messy pants on his body, having to steal and run away with the jacket, a mob after him for such petty theft, until he was saved on that day. Zazel snapped out of his trance as soon as he realized he was making things uncomfortable with Alice, a smile on his own face. "I... I'll admit, I thought you were gonna make me wear something messed up but... hey, it looks cool on me! Can I ah..."

"Keep it? Of course you can! It looks better on you anyway!" Alice would bluntly state, as she'd take the tattered black and toss it into a pretty garbage can, before leading his friend away. "Come, come! The Celebration is still at hand, here! I want my little Kitty to be as happy as he could be!"

"It's Zazel. Zazel Cal'cul."

"Nice to meet you, Zazel! I'm sure we're gonna be great friends!"
