Thomas's face flushed hot with a mixture of embarrassment and rising rage. He wanted to shout, to tell her exactly where she could shove her "Haughty Hunter" attitude, but the sheer gap in their power was like a physical weight pressing him into the floor. He swallowed his pride, forced his expression into a mask of dull compliance, and stood up.
"What a crazy bitch," he muttered under his breath once he was safely three corridors away.
His wandering finally paid off when he spotted a small, unassuming sign next to a set of heavy doors: FINANCE DEPARTMENT.
