SCREEECH! As Charles wrenched the steering wheel, the car skidded to an emergency stop.
But the sand creature didn't shrink. Because it was constantly moving away from Charles, it was still slowly growing in size.
THUD! THUD! THUD! As the impacts continued, the sands of the entire desert, along with the vehicles, began to tremble.
That was the sound of the gigantic sand creature slamming its colossal, pillar-like hands onto the desert floor. This thing was no illusion or mirage—it was real.
At this point, Charles no longer harbored any hope that this place was Earth. Nothing like this could possibly exist on Earth.
What should I do? This was the question Charles desperately needed to answer. Faced with the ever-growing, bizarre sand creature, all of his past experience was useless.
But before Charles could come up with a plan, the sand creature slowly turned around with earthquake-like tremors, its body leaning slightly forward.
