Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Breaking Through

"Three hundred years…

For a mortal that's three lifetimes in my past.

Here, it's even more outrageous, five lifetimes!

People played in their childhood, studied, got a job, married, had children, grew old and died.

But these things…"

Fu Xian shook his head as he opened his eyes.

Purple light shining as brightly as the stars gleamed across his eyes.

Spiritual power gathered around him with each breath, storming his vessels to enter his body.

"How can they minor things be compared to cultivation?

Hah!

With only a little talent, I've crossed the mountains and rivers –

I learned how to cultivate, and most importantly, I learned how to draw talisman!

After a mere three hundred years, I've opened the Origin Light!"

Four lights escaped his body and circled him like planets paying their respects to the sun.

One planet was azure blue, like an endless sea stretching across the entire planet surface.

Another was emerald green. A breath of life seemed to expand across the universe.

The third was barely a planet; rather, it was more like a huge asteroid with countless runes on it. Its surface white yet the runes black, like an endless expanse of black and white, intermingling and defining the rules of the worlds.

Finally, there was a purple planet. Unlike the others, it had a ring. The ring was liquid like a river connecting from one end to another, while the planets surface was like scorched earth. It was dark yet damp, like a dung field awaiting the next season.

Fu Xian looked at the four lights, his eyes gradually settling on the last one, "My innate spiritual aspect, Talisman, should be the most central. The secondary water and wood hold a close relationship with me.

But this one, where does it come from?"

He racked his brains, trying to find the reason.

But before he could do so, the reason was revealed in front of him.

From endless connected river, a small figure fell down, landing on the scorched earth.

The figure melted at the first second, slowly fusing with the earth below.

Time passed and the figure fused with the earth-

In that instant, Fu Xian felt a special consciousness locking on him.

It was warm and caring, like a mother looking at her son. But with the affection came the innate headache, as if she was deciding "Shall I reward my son, or does he deserve a scolding?"

Most days, the answer was simple. She would simply scold her son, at least this way, he wouldn't be arrogant over this small achievement.

But as she looked at Fu Xian, her beloved child, so pure and thoughtful…

He planted plants where he harvested. He killed people after helping some. He gathered the spiritual power between heaven and earth and did his best to reach this meagre cultivation stage…

In the end, with a look full of affection, the consciousness left.

The moment it left, the purple planet seemed to gain life!

A beat resounded from it, like a heart pumping blood.

After some moments, it stopped, seemingly lacking 'air' to breathe…

The movement ceased and the four planets gathered together.

In that instant, they fused and formed a flat shape –

It was a rectangular piece of paper. On the front side, a massive tree connected heaven and earth. Its roots seemed to reach beyond the talismans body, its canopy rising into the distant sky…

On the back side, there was only an endless expanse of blue. But beyond its superficial colour, there hid a deep abyss awaiting exploration. It was like a black hole, sucking worlds and universes into its belly.

The edge of the talisman was purple and there seemed to be a cycle, representing profound mystery.

It hovered in front of Fu Xian, as if greeting him, before slowly falling and entering his body next to his heart.

At this moment, Fu Xian awoke from his reverie, shock spread across his face, incomprehension reflecting in his eyes.

"Was this…?" he wanted to ask, to call its name, but he dared not.

In the end, he could only keep it in his heart, forever to be hidden from the outside world.

Finally he could focus on the talisman.

"My innate aspect… before I broke through, I've put my everything into it. Countless years were spent to create a top-quality third-grade talisman while I was only at the second stage.

Only then did the immortal city give me the inheritance and material to break through to the third stage.

My years, hah!

Three hundred years might be little, with only a few years left to live, this was truly my last chance!

With my talent and expertise in talisman, it would've been fortunate to awaken a Great Innate Aspect. I can't even dream of a Supreme aspect, one that has reached the pinnacle of the world.

But instead, not only did I cross Great and reach Supreme, even further, I've awakened a Transcendental aspect?!"

He could barely keep his excitement, feeling like everything that had happened was a dream.

Talent barely played a part in what he did, rather, it was his fortune of being a reincarnator and his hard work from an early age.

"What secrets do you hide?" Fu Xian couldn't hold back and scanned the information that entered his mind.

[Talisman Reincarnation]

That was the name of his innate aspect.

As simple as it sounded, it was actually a world apart from reality.

The three inspirations he awakened over many years combined with his innate unique experience: reincarnation!

While everyone reincarnated, only he was able to escape the sea of oblivion and keep his memories as a mere mortal.

His inspirations were talisman, wood and water. Quite common…

But together with his various thoughts and the countless ideas he had gained from reading novels, he formed a prototype for his aspect: Clones!

Use the energy of water to grow a tree. The fruits fall off and enter the ground, becoming the seeds for new trees. The tree was him and the fruits were his clones. He would grow them and make them work for him.

His talisman would define the groundwork and rules of this clone ability, and finally, it would be the crucial link between him and his clones.

But this unexpected fourth inspiration changed his ability wholly:

Instead of the arduous cultivation of these fruits, he would directly use 'water' to grow the 'tree' and send the fruits away-

They would enter the river of reincarnation and combine with fated mortals, those who are about to awaken.

Before they were even cultivators, they would be parasitized by his fruit. Their personality would change, their moves controlled, and in the end, they would be no different than 'clones'…
